  • Kitchen Kabaret was a 13-minute audio-animatronic show at EPCOT Center, Walt Disney World Resort, located in The Land pavilion. Kitchen Kabaret was present on EPCOT's opening day, October 1, 1982.
    The host, Bonnie Appetite, introduces the various acts in a musical review and comedy format that advocated healthy eating and provided a basic primer on the four food groups: Meat, Dairy, Cereal, and Fruits/Vegetables.

    This video kicked off my bizarre obsession with 80's epcot. Thank you so much for making me realize my weird early childhood memory of singing animatronic veggies wasn't just a strange fever-induced hallucination.

    The strength of this show was that it wasn't trying to be current and hip. It was deliberately retro, even for 1982. It emulated the musical styles of bygone decades, but it wasn't just a jukebox show of parodies. Food Rocks, by contrast, was trying way too hard to be hip and ended up dating itself.

    • @tristanband4003
      @tristanband4003 Před 5 lety +8

      That was probably why food rocks made such a bad impression on me as a kid. If I was old enough to have seen Kitchen Kaberet, I'd have fonder memories of this.
      In addition, Food Rocks was an autistic kid's worst nightmare; way too loud. My auditory sensitivity was real bad back then. KK was smoother, easier on the ears. Not to mention: KK's animatronics seem much better.

    An outdated show, Kitchen Kabaret was hosted by the unexcited Bonnie Appetite, who was joined by animatronic kitchen cans and pots who performed healthy-eating-themed tunes to hits of the 1950s, which were distant from the time that Kitchen Kabaret existed. In addition, the USDA had changed its food chain system by 1992. Disney was definitely right in retiring this attraction.

      Connor Antalek this was made at a time when the music was relevant and popular. This show was one of the first attractions that Epcot had when it opened and it remained popular till they re-changed it, that's why the music remained that way for the longest time. Disney at the time wasn't about pop culture and changing to the latest trend it was about stepping back in time and enjoying a past that is no longer with us. Not this pop culture trash we have now..

      Yes I know, but Soarin replaced this after food rocks. Soarin is in the same location that this whole section use to be in, hence why it's not there anymore. I know the evolution of the park, it went from this show, to Food Rocks and then the whole section was redesigned to include Soarin' in that section because of its popularity and the decline ratings of Food Rock thank you. I don't blame you for thinking it, you'd have had to go to that area a lot of times to know what was there before hand and after.

      nestle and kraft stopped sponsoring these shows which is why soarin was put in plus they wanted something new.

      ***** It's a shame, I really enjoyed that. though, I probably was the only one who did. I like Soarin' as well.. It's just always a shame when rides get replaced with newer ones, sometimes they work out like Soarin' is a great replacement. and sometimes, they don't.

    • @jbeachboy100
      @jbeachboy100 Před 7 lety +1

      these rides have a limited time cause most sponsors usually drop them after their contract and attractions becomes outdated for something newer and more futuristic. enjoy them before they are gone.
      i loved kabaret and food rocks when i went and watching but i havent gone since 2000 or so , ive never seen soarin at the park, only on youtube.

    This, Tiki Room, and Country Bears we’re both serenade like animatronic shows. If those two stayed, this should’ve also stayed. Why not return this show to The Land Pavilion replacing The Circle Of Life theater. The Kitchen Kabaret’s return should have a new advanced re do of the whole cast, including a new lifelike animatronic version of Bonnie Appodite. While the food animatronics will be 3D ones (like what you see on SDMT and Frozen). And newly remastered audio. So Epcot, make this your second attraction return since you did Captain EO.

    • @Ben-kd7ug
      @Ben-kd7ug Před 5 lety

      Well actually the theater needs to return for a new show but this time a live show similar to Voyage of the little mermaid, festival of the lion king, finding nemo the musical etc, It's based on a movie
      It should be themed on wall e, and be called Wall-e the musical instead of audio animatronics(with the exception of auto and the wall-As, Hal is a remoted controlled ) the robots and the humans in the movie were performed as live performers
