- In this video I take you through installing the MyEnergi Eddi Relay and Sensor board in the Eddi and then attach a PT1000 temperature sensor cable in order to see the temperature of the tank on the eddi and in the MyEnergi App.

Daniel big thank you for making such a detailed and clear video. Just got my own sensor installed and your video was a massive help.
Cheers for the video, I installed mine with minimum fuss because of your video 😁
Really grateful for the video, Daniel. I managed to do all the connections, etc almost exactly as you showed. Biggest problems I had were using the fiddly cable ties to secure the sensor cable and then Gorilla taping the sensor to the tank - our tank is a bit like yours with very little easy access. However, pleased with the results. Thanks again!
Thanks mate 👍 useful video
No problem 👍Hope it helped.
great video very informative and well explained two many ads in my opinion but keep doing what your doing.
Thanks, will do! Sorry about the ads, that's Google and CZcamss fault. They choose how many you see, even if the channel is not monetised.
Good info Daniel & something I'd be interested in doing. The only snag I have is that my Eddi is in my garage with the inverter, battery & consumer unit & my HW tank is in the airing cupboard a good 20m away with no easy route for the sensor to go between the two. I guess I could look at moving the Eddi into the airing cupboard but that would give me issues with the CT's that are connected to it. I guess I could get a Harvi & connect the CT's wirelessly but that starts to make the whole exercise a bit expensive just to get a tank temp reading with no added benefit of control. More thought needed on my part I think.
Yes, it sounds complicated. I only did it as it was quite straightforward for me and not too costly.
Really useful video, thanks for that. Can you set the eddi stop sending heating the immersion once a certain temperature is reached?
Hi Daniel, great video, recently got an Eddi installed with our panels, really do like it, I also went and got the relay board and sensor after watching your video, I do like to know the temp of water especially in the evening after excess solar is finished topping up Eddi, can I ask you where is the best spot to place the probe on a copper cylinder, it has the foam insulation around it.
Daniel,
Great Video. Is there a setting in the eddi menu to stop it heating water the at a set temperature, say 60 degrees. I have my thermostat turned right down, but because it draws from the bottom of the tank the top is 90 degree while the bottom is say 35. Willis style immersion.
Also can the PT1000 cable be extended? I need about a 15 meter run?
Thanks for the video - its very helpful. I installed the exact same set up but the temp reading on the Eddi does not go above 32-34c - I know the tank is at 60c+ as I get the max temp reached message on the Eddi. Are you getting accurate(ish) readings?
I wouldn't say totally accurate. But when max temp reached, it's about 56, and when really empty, about 30. So I can kind of work out how hot the tank really is
👍👍👍
Hi Daniel. Out of curiosity, is there a reason you did not use a cylinder thermostat?
Thanks
Perhaps as I don't know what they or what they look like. I'll have to do some research.
Brilliant video. So we'll explained. Would u need 2 probes..one for each tank..I have an ordinary emersion..tank 1 sink and tank 2 vath
Yes, you can have two probes, one for each tank. You'll then see two temperatures
@@daniel_coe thank you v much
Im trying to get my head around the Eddi. I get that it diverts excess solar to heat the boiler but how much does it actually save? Im thinking winter when their is no excess solar. Gas is under 10p a kw. I only have a 2kw PV system so even in summer I only really generate 9kw a day & I have a 9.5kw battery & an EV to charge. Would you say an Eddi would be pointless for someone like me?
First of all, you need a water immersion tank. Then, if you don't have excess solar, it's probably not worth it. If you do have excess, you then need to work out if exporting the excess solar and using gas is cheaper than heating the tank with solar. But for some, it's not all about savings, but being green also. In the winter, we still use the boiler to heat the water as there isn't usually enough excess solar
Apologies for a silly question, but what benefit does this have please?
Why would you want to know the precise temperature of the water in your tank?
Some days, it doesn't reach full temperature, so I can work out if I'm in for a slightly cooler shower than I really want. Plus, I can tell when my teenager has had a 30 min shower and taken all the water!
@@daniel_coe Ahha, thanks, this makes sense. I can see that it will help you establish the best times to set your gas boiler to top the heat up
