  • Consecration is the act of making an object sacred, but it won't always be necessary. This simple ritual can help you give your items their ritualistic purpose and make them sacred. Once an item is consecrated, it shouldn't be used for anything else!

Have you ever consecrated an object before? If not, would you? 🕯Let me know your thoughts in the comments!

All my tools. I bleed my hand onto them as part of the ritual after using smoke and alcohol. Breathe life and intention onto them too.

I hadn't considered using blood or alcohol 🤔 is there a reason for the alcohol? I assume the blood is for a direct physical connection to you.

@@RoundtheCauldron alcohol like whiskey or mead can be sprinkled onto something with another object (sprig of yew, feather, bundle of lavender, etc) or sprayed onto something with the mouth. Coming from mixed ancestry, these would have been the ways to wake up the life within something and connect spirits and deities to it. Blood acts to connect, activate and to give a sacrifice of your personal life force to something.

@@Volundur9567 Oh, how interesting! That makes sense. Thanks for explaining!

If I'm just starting a brand new grimoire (as I do), nothing is written yet. Should I consecrate it or is it enough to just cleanse it? I want to paint it black with a spray paint as well. When I do, should I consecrate it or cleanse it again or not? Sorry if the questions are stupid, but I'm totally new to this. Thank you ☺

I have an athame that was recently added to my practice. Its consecration came about via a working integration with ongoing spell work that I was doing at the time. It was cleansed and consecrated, but not on its own. I'm now having second thoughts and will probably go back and give it special time with full attention paid.

An item doesn't have to be consecrated just like this. I think working regularly with a tool on one specific project or task can also be an act of consecration. If your tool feels sacred to you, then it's sacred!

@@RoundtheCauldron that's a good point. Because it's so new to my possession I'll take time to use it regularly but as spirit suggests.
