i love that they ended mockingjay part 2 with this song
+Ally Bravo Oh my :"")
THEY DID :)
+Ally Bravo It would've been foolish not to. This song is like in each movie (except for MJ part 1).
Harrison Mitchell it was in mocking Jay part 1
"Air Raid Drill"
Just a little mixed
The part where they played this in district 11 during the tribute tour in Catching Fire was even sadder
I love how it's not really a sad song with a million violins trying to oversell it. It's more peaceful then anything else. Like a theme you'd hear after escaping a horrible place and then later slowly walking along a beach alone. It was painful, but at least now you're free.
Wow. Incredibly well described. Those songs are my favourites. They give you this feeling of tragedy and rough reality of life but also give you this feeling of having made it to the end of the journey. There are still scars that will never heal but you made it. You finally found peace. Finally you're looking into the distance and feeling the warm wind. You're free.
Yeah I feel like at a certain point of the song there's a theme of empowerment in a way. That's just my take on the feeling it gives lol.
Like when Peeta and Katniss return home, it plays in the first film.
They've been through the Hunger Games...and it's over...
Until Catching Fire, at least
This comment almost made me cry. Well said
A true grindstone moment
This scene was heartbraking... Literally everyone in the cinema was bawling. Including me. She was to young. To Gentle.
TheChesireCat .... keep your head up bro that was just a movie... xDD
K.Jojo I know... Does not make it better, tho.
TheChesireCat I went mental, I was screaming bloody murderer,
Stackingsiblings T It may sound weird to some people, but I`ve never really liked Prim that much. Of course, I did not want her to die, but I liked Rue way better.
+AvaCakes IKR
So many comments sharing people's sadness at Rue's death. So young and innocent. Still there are real kids out there that die every day, younger, and just as innocent. May we never forget them, and may we try our hardest to live not just for ourselves, but for them also.
what people fail to realize as well is that most of us are the Capitol people. a little less extravagant but often times wasting things that other people need.
saki train you deserve all the likes in the world
TheS1lentScreamer Lol. Thanks. But it really is true. That's probably one of the greatest/saddest lessons I learned from the book among other things. sigh~ :(
exactly. I was introduced to the series by the movies, and hen I first saw the scenes of District 12 all I could think of was the poverty in my country :/ this might be a fun work of science fiction but it is strikingly realistic
TheS1lentScreamer yeah. Same here. After the first movie was released i started reading the books. It is an awesome book/story and I believe people love it so much because it talks about social issues and stuff that are shrugged a lot or is not talked about in most movies. We see it in a few clips in movies but that's about it. And the fact that it is a teen or a young adult novel is brilliant. A lot of young adults are now talking about poverty, killings, the government and such. #AwesomeBookIsAwesome :D
"I’ll tell them how I survive it. I’ll tell them that on bad mornings, it feels impossible to take pleasure in anything because I’m afraid it could be taken away. That’s when I make a list in my head of every act of goodness I’ve seen someone do. It’s like a game. Repetitive. Even a little tedious after more than twenty years.
But there are much worse games to play."
Best last line in a book ever!
But it Still doesn't REALLY WORK!!! I'm really a horrible MESS.
Really speaks for someone with anxiety and depressive disorders, who has gone through trauma
It’s a good line but I kind of pretend the 3rd book doesn’t exist. Rushed a whole rebellion in single book. The first 2 books were excellent in how a revolution starts
Rue means road in French, right? Rue opened up a road for the revolution.
Oh my god reading this comment and having the music play at 3:30 now I'm sobbing
more like street
In this context, it's more appropriate. Also, one definition does not weigh more heavily than the other; it's the same goddamn meaning.
In the movie and even in the French movie they say /Rou/ so we don't really consider it as a French word. We say "Ru" and it doesn't mean road but street. :)
oh
I remember watching this movie at the midnight premiere and when this scene came up, everyone in the theater did the three finger salute. It was pretty cool and emotional. I think someone also did the whistle.
2:55 is when i start to get emotional
and 3:30
sorry to hear that
@@TypicalLiv You aren't the only one 😥
Exactly
@@hussienabushi1202 I managed to hit 3:50 before I started crying.
this playing in the final scene of mockingjay part 2 made it even more beautiful and really made you reflect on what the characters went through to get to where they end up. It's such an emotional piece of music
+xiLaurax Sometimes I get irritated, thinking about all that Katniss went through. How it was technically all for Prim who ended up dying [the first thing that she was trying to protect her from].
Play this at my funeral
+Carlitta Howie Same. :)
Made a private playlist. This is going on their for sure.
Jesus Christ the saddest funeral
Carlitta Howie same
3:30 is the best part
Humans are odd. They think order and chaos are somehow opposites and try to control what won't be. But there is grace in their failings. I think you missed that.
Petyr 'Littlefinger' Baelish: Chaos isn't a pit. Chaos is a ladder. Many who try to climb it fail and never get to try again. The fall breaks them. And some, are given a chance to climb. They refuse, they cling to the realm or the gods or love. Illusions. Only the ladder is real. The climb is all there is.
This quote ^
Can you imagine blending this score with that exact scene from Age of Ultron you just quoted?
nope, you did, otherwise you wouldn’t write about it
did u just quote an android with a rock lol
3:50
This piece really makes you think about life.
Humans don't really appreciate the value of life and all it has to offer until it's gone. Then again, most of us don't appreciate anything. We take everything for granted.
And the saddest part is, most people aren't aware of the things that are currently happening. From starving children, to greedy countries, to pointless wars.
I'm so glad there are smart people like you living in this world:)
When I finished the books, I cried about all this stuff and references to real life.
From "Capitol City" to the pointless wars... There's so much to talk about, in Hunger Games
+Jackson Bassett * you're
+Br3taigne I usually don't care much for youtube comments but it sure is true.
+Bret i i agree with you
Deep in the meadow, under the willow
A bed of grass, a soft green pillow
Lay down your head, and close your sleepy eyes
And when again they open, the sun will rise.
Here it's safe, here it's warm
Here the daisies guard you from every harm
Here your dreams are sweet and tomorrow brings
them true
Here is the place where I love you.
Rue's eyes have flattered shut.
The book made me cry more than the film :[
Me too. I read the book so many times and cried when she died.
Her eyes "flattered" shut?
That'll be a typo, as usual...
Can you tell me what song that is??? I really want to know.
Deep in the meadow, hidden far away
A cloak of leaves, a moonbeam ray
Forget your woes and let your troubles lay
And when it's morning again, they'll wash away
Here it's safe, here it's warm
Here the daisies guard you from every harm
Here your dreams are sweet and tomorrow brings them true
Here is the place where I love you.
I loved that they used this song in Catching Fire when Katniss talked about Rue! I was sobbing through the whole scene..
Did you blow up the food?
Every bit of it.
Good, you have to win. Can you sing?
ok.
Deep in the meadow
Under the willow
A bed of grass
A soft green pillow
Lay down your head
“Did you blow up the food?”
“Every bit of it.”
“You have to win. Can you sing?”
“Okay.”
Deep in the meadow, under the willow.
A bed of grass, a soft green pillow.
Lay down your head, and close your eyes.
And when they open, the sun will rise.
Don't make me cry again! ;==;

"Here it's safe, here it's warm.
Here the daisies guard you from every harm.
Here your dreams are sweet, and tomorrow brings them true.
Here is the place, where I love you."
I think Jennifer Lawrence is a beautiful and amazing actress who made these movies into master pieces. She makes the books come alive. :)
so true. i never read any of the books until i watched catching fire. now i have bought the last book. literally comes alive. she played a great part an has made the book so enjoyable to read. i am going to get the 1st 2 books also
I don't think its JUST Jennifer...the other actor's performances are still pretty top notch...
People may bash her a lot for various reasons nowadays. But no one can take away from her that she is the best for this role
bormiten fuck them haters she’s the best
Prison Mike she is a great actor!! Screw those haters
The first movie had the best soundtrack, hands down.
+Lambstew Nah, Part 2 soundtrack was better.
nope - the hanging tree - mockinjay part 1! :)
john vaughan I was quite disappointed when I heard "The Hanging Tree" to be honest. I always imagined it to be more like a folk song that has a mystical feeling to it. The version in the movie kinda sounds too monotonous to me. But that's just my opinion :)
Beefstew
[Lambstew] james Horner should have scored the hunger games films. God rest his soul. Imagine what the soundtrack would have sounded like.
Rue's death was the saddest part of the entire franchise
I know.. I had a brake down in the movie when she died..
I was almost relieved when I read the book, knowing that now Katniss would not be forced to kill her
I cried when I read the book...
I'm a man who almost teared up. It's the only movie scene to nearly make me do it.
Me too.
Who else loves 2:55 and on????
My favorite part of any song in the whole OST.
🙋😢😢
Goosebumps
Goosebumps @2:55
"You have to win."

*puts three fingers to lips and raises them in the air, signaling the start of a revolution and the end of a corruption*
😔😥
@@akrobeau All of District 11 accepts the three finger signal and does it themselves. Rue's father starts attacking Peacekeepers and destroying supplies that go to the Capitol. Riots and chaos emerge as more people join in the destruction.
Fires are lit.
Guns go off
Screams are flying
And the rebellion has started.
With the violins, all I can think about is how, when I was first watching the movie with my dad when I was twelve, I asked him who the man was that ran from the crowd after Rue died. It's a bit of a silly question now that I think about it, but he explained that it was probably Rue's father. I remember going silent for a moment, then asking one question. "Would you start a rebellion if I died like that?"
What did he say??
Carlos Quintero He didn't actually answer. He just looked at me.
Remember what Rue's family looked like in Catching Fire........ THERE WAS NO DAD!
@@hannahmurdock50 JESUS HANNAH LOL
He would go to war for you, child. Words can't say what he was thinking. Any father with an ounce of love for their child would do what Rue's dad did, if not more.
you can hear the rebellion in the background...*cries*
The first part is sad, then it turns angry.
Beautifully done
also long awaited, deserved victory...
Oh no. Listen to this song with headphones and turn the volume super high, and just take in how amazing this song is. It makes the feels worse.
I JUST SPENT 45 MINUTES LISTENING TO MY FAVOURITE PIECES FROM THE SERIES AND THE HANGING TREE, I NEED YOU, VICTORY AND THE TOUR ARE SHEER UTTER PERFECTION 😍😭😭
From 2:55 up until the violins grew louder was the part that I would forever remember and expresses the sorrow of a fallen warrior.
The score reminds me of a calm before the storm. The aftermath of Her death literally opens up the floodgates for the revolution!
"You have to win.....can you sing?"
This music is so... I don't even know how to put it. When I was a kid and I thought about dying and going to an afterlife this is how it made me feel. A very strange feeling, almost as if you were going home after a very long time and this was all just a dream. A part of me was sad to leave it all behind, but I could feel this growing sense of relief, happiness and amazement that really is out of this world. I pretty much lost all faith in anything; that is to say I am more confused now that I ever was before, and the more I learn the less I am sure about anything in this life. Still, that feeling of hope is somewhere deep down within me; hoping that no matter how bad things seem to be there is a light at the end of the tunnel.. I guess we'll never know until we get there.
Very beautiful and poetic.
That was so beautifully said!
It is very euphoric
there is. believe me there is. don't be sad in this life. be happy! there are many adventures waiting for you. Paint the sky with your own brush and leave your mark! run wild and be free! hope this helps. if anything message me and I'll talk to you about how I have the hope that I do.
Until you realized it was a one entrance cave and there's no turning back lol rekt m8
One of the most underrated film scores of the last decade. James Newton Howard never gets mentioned among the greatest film composers, but he did The Fugitive, King Kong, Major League, The Sixth Sense, and many more.
This piece is like directly linked to my emotions. I can't hear it without getting emotional. No matter what.
And when they used this theme inThe Tour from Catching Fire and Air Raid Drill from Mockingly Part 1....oh man
Ikr, I know exactly when it's coming and it still sends shivers down my spine, whatever piece it's included in. It has to be in Part 2 now to keep up the tradition as it were aha. The Tour is my favourite from the whole series, although Rue's Farewell is just an incredible piece of music that just sums up the whole Hunger Games series for me
+Isobel Wright they did ^^ And I obv cried
+doppiadthebest same!
+doppiadthebest I thought they might end Part 2 with a sadder rendition of the Hanging Tree, but Rue's Lullaby was perfect.
Hanging Tree is inspirational and a song of rebellion, and suits Part 1 as the Mockingjay stokes the fires of revolution.
I think Rue's Lullaby, being a more intimate song, reminds us of what they fought for, of love and of coping with your losses in the aftermath of war.
I swear, this is the most heartbreaking song I have ever heard in my life. It’s in the same league as the unbelievable music written by Hans Zimmer and Thomas Newman. The power behind it, especially when you add in the context is so deeply moving. God rest the sweet treasure Rue from “The Hunger Games” series.
James Newton Howard. A genius.
2:55 - 4:55 I'd like to imagine It will be played upon my death, and like have a flash back of everything good in my life all in the space of them few minutes and then, Then I can say I'm ready to leave because the truth is, this song in this small little peace i think is so so powerful
GRANDCENTRAL43067 when you die is said that your brain has about seven minutes of activity left in it so you could live your entire life all over again in seven minutes kinda like a dream before you die so seeing as that is said you actually do see your life flash before your eyes before you die. So if this is true we could all be dead right now just reliving our life in the last seven minutes of a brain activity before we actually die.
😭😭😭😭
TBD thanks for the existential crisis
One of the most beautiful movie tracks I have heard in a long time ! James Newton Howard is such a beast :)
9 years have passed still hearing this great thing
Pfftt no I'm not crying there's a friggin tree in my eye
There's a tree in your eye? Maybe the tears are blinding you making it impossible to proof read your sentences.
CZcams comments aren't college essays, my friend. Calm down.
Nicole, There is a tree in your eye? You should get it checked out.. :P
ncp Are you sure it's not a spear?
ncp I ain't ashamed to say that I laughed at your comment.
from 2:55 i could see rue body laying on the ground and it made me cry so hard!!!

Derek Keenan You are scared to show your emotions. Foolish child.
Derek Keenan i completely lost it when i read your comment
It still makes me crack up
Oh god here it comes I CANT STOP NOW THANKS SO MUCH >.
Reuben Chandler-Wall Oh lol That would be just wrong!
2:55 when it played at the end of Mockingjay 2 I died
it played in catching fire i died of feels :'(
Wait what? What scene?
Oh i remmeber! THE TOUR !
soso lolo Specifically, when one of the members of District 11 was publicly murdered my Peacemakers.
Rue shall remain deep in our hearts...
I'm a pretty tough person. I never cry. Never. But this song, and Rue, made me cry. And I was laughing, but yet I wasn't happy.
Me too 👊🏼😩😩😣
I loved this song its themed through the movies I think, love thats its specifically for rue
This song gives me chills. Everytime I hear it.
cried at this scene in Catching Fire
Round of applause for Suzanne Collins for creating these books. Also for whoever wrote the music. So meaningful.
This song always really moved me, but now I will remember it for another reason.
My cat of 17 years had been battling stage 4 kidney disease for a short while before we had to make the decision to let her sleep before the disease forced her to starve to death or caused her too much pain that she could not move. The day we were set to bring her in to the vet, I awoke to this song playing on the Pandora app on my phone.
I could not have chosen a better way to remember that day than this piece of music. Some times in life you must lose what you love, but you can only move forward and make the best of it.
Farewell Figaro, February 21, 2019. You will be missed sweet girl.
3:31 saved your time
+Horrligan thank you! I get goosebumps EVERYTIME, at this precise moment.

+Horrligan 2:45 is much better. Gotta build to it.
If we burn, you burn with us.
Mockingjay part 1
No soundtrack, no score, no music will ever give me goosebumps and move me to tears like this particular song. Replaying that scene in my mind, I'm an emotional wreck for at least 10 minutes after listening to this. Thank you, James.
When I sat in the cinema watching Catching Fire and this song started, the tears just started rolling.
Same only I haven't cried at a n y of the films yet (ikr I've got a heart of stone 😂) but it's been in every film so far so I think it'll be in part 2
« She was too young. Too gentle. »
I love the intro to this song... whenever I have a panic attack I like to play it and turn on the flashlight on my iphone, shining it in my face pretending I'm dying. They used to take my mind to a really dark place; one full of so much hopelessness it's impossible to understand for someone who has never felt that way before. Now my mind feels tranquil, and all the chills and tingles that come over my body are almost cathartic. I picture a hospital bed with a beautiful view of southern Italy glaring at me through my window. The sun is about ready to set, and it laces the entire world in it's golden light. There are flowers and vines by the silky white and pink curtains, and you can see the light shine right through them, bouncing off all the particles of pollen and dust which sparkle everywhere. I breathe in a deep sigh of relief, and I can smell the cool ocean breeze mixed with the scent of roses. I walk to the balcony and climb up the handrail, staring down into the ocean and than onward into the sky. I think to myself, if only my life could have always been this beautiful, but in the end it doesn't matter, I'm here now.
Bro, hope you feel better after those moments, I believe you can make it through bro

These movies are the most power- and meaningful ones I've ever seen. I hope the Mockingjay will fly soon again
i love music that can make you cry with just a few chords
When the strings rise! Oh my, my heart breaks...even after all these years. You just see her sweet little face in your mind, with those eyes of hers looking up, and your own eyes start to well up.
This was the first thing I did on the violin. I was 11 at the time. I didn't want to learn any other song. This was all I felt the need to do and portray through everything. I didn't know where to find it and it appears in my recommended the day after I dream about it (3 years after I taught myself.) Thank you for this beautiful reminder of why I chose to live through and for music.
So many emotions orchestrated in one song....
Catching fire was AWESOME!!!!!!!!!
i can’t do this anymore omg this song
this is the most beautiful piece of scoring. love it.
this song makes me cry
Especially at 3:50
People are sad because of the film. But the film is real in lots lots lots of places or even worse. :/
Whatever you're doing, drop it, just sit down and appreciate the artistic masterpiece that has been blessed upon us - The Hunger Games.
the chord progression from 3:30 is just breathtaking
This song gives me chills.
“You have to win”
I know its a bit late, but i came back to this remembering how great it was. And i just now notice how much of a master piece it is. The beginning of the song is beautiful and somber as if youre mourning a loved one that left too soon. Then it leaves off after picking up with a bit of fury, and rage. Like a fire burning
Makes me cry everytime i want this song to be played when my ashes get sprinkled in the sea, so that my loved ones will know that i might be gone but i'll live on forever and i'll be everywhere.
I had donated some amount of money anonymously to help a four year old child suffering from Cancer. I just received the news that he is no more. I cannot stop crying and I haven't seen the boy in my life. I think this is what being human is all about. Love and pain binds Mankind together. If there anything one can be in this world, one should be kind. I pray for his soul. I hope it has found it's place in the universe.
This song just breaks my heart, but I sincerely adore it (':
R.I.P Rue
Gone but not forgotten, rest easy Rue.
3:30 I can't with this part 😭
Here I am years later, back to listen to this wonderful soundtrack.
One of my favourite movie soundtracks, shame it didn't get that much recognition. Beautiful piece to a beuatiful scene in a beautiful film, hats off!

Every time I see this scene I cry.
I Remember When I Watched The Movie The 1St Time And Cried My Eyes Out
To This Day When I Watch This Scene I Cry My Eyes Out
The way they put this in the end scene when Katniss is holding Rue Mellark🥺
This is literally my favorite song out of all songs of the score. Whenever I think of the score that was created for this movie I think of this part because it is used in all 4 movies and its just the best. I get chills every time I listen.
BEING REUSED IN CATCHING FIRE. OH MY GOD!!!
We’re playing this in a part of our show for marching band this year.
Heartbreakingly beautiful!
This kind of music is the reason why its my passion. Why I want to pursue this magical wonder, and be immersed in its beauty.
You're great with words, my friend.
Thank you
I really cried on 2:56 - 4:22. I saw like... Katniss, giving white flowers to Rue and showing this three fingers to District 11. :'(
Paperflight for me I start crying at 3:50
I feel like everything should be silent when listening to this. Just listen to this music, nothing else. Live in the moment and feel the emotion. It really connects you to the point of this music, and it's absolutely lovely. This is an example of why I love music. It holds the powerful emotion we wouldn't feel without it. I find it so extraordinary and just plain beautiful.
That’s why you get noise cancelling headphones
Dude , i'm crying this music is so touching , it's so gentle , I absolutely started to cry on 1:31 , Rue , be sure I miss you .
I am so thankful to James Newton Haward for making the movies what they are with the music, it's such a gentle piece with such a huge story
When I watched this scene I cried 😭💔

This score was composed so perfectly. It captures triumph and tragedy at the same time.
Almost brings you to your knees. Just stunning.
GOD DAMN THIS IS SOME GOOD MUSIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ok but can we just applaud how well the actor played rue she made it 10x sadder
6 years later and I still listen to this song every once in awhile.
11 years later… still listening
our world has changed so much is the past years that I believe that something like this will happen in our future. That we would think kids killing eachother would fix our problems when it’s actually starting new ones.
We gotta give it up to James Newton Howard for making this scene a beautiful reality with this legendary score!
