Well I've been doing just that today in a real world installation. It works fine! I had two areas with cameras about 3m apart. One camera outside and one inside. BUT, what you're not telling is that if you use an 8 wire patch lead to each Y adapter, IT WILL NOT WORK. You need to use a patch lead with only pins 1,2,3 & 6 connected. I usually use the brown rj45 couplers, that you can open and remove pins 4,5,7 & 8. Reassemble the coupler and connect one to each plug on the Y connector near the camera end. Now it will work perfectly with any patch lead.
Interesting feedback Peter. Which brand of cameras were you using?
In the video Matt used standard 8 pin patch leads with Dahua IP cameras - all supplied by us.
I've used this Y lead with Dahua, Hickvision, Provision ISR , and many generic Chinese cameras. Works well if you wire it correctly. Some patch leads, for example, supplied with TP Link products, are only wired 1, 2, 3, & 6. They work out the box. If you use a standard 8 core patch lead it won't work as you're corrupting one video stream with another. As I was bringing a wire in from outside through a brick wall, I made up my own cable. You could also cut the unused cores at the plug. As I use the Eze rj45 plugs, it's possible to feed the 4 required wires into the plug reliably before crimping
Hi
I have a lorex NVR with PoE function. A cat 6 cable is running to an outdoor camera and working fine. How can I install another camera close to the existing one please? I mean using the same cat6 cable to connect 2 cameras.
Thank you
Hi Travis, as Matt demonstrates in this video - one way of achieving this on a DAHUA system is by using a PoE 1 into 2.
We have not used a Lorex recorder with this solution and cannot confirm if this will work or not with your setup (different NVRs & PoE devices can use different cores etc.).
However, they're very affordable compared to a network switch (and much more convenient than a whole new run) so if you are a UK Trade installer - please contact our Sales Team and we can supply you one even if it's just to give it a try. 👍
@Mast Digital Thank you so much. But unfortunately I'm located in Canada. If I get a PoE switch, connect 2 cables with thr NVR to it, then the long cat6 cable to the cameras, then use the splitter, will that work?
Thanks again
Will this work on hik system? Do you not sell Hikvision anymore? Thanks
Hi Michael - it works slightly different.
On a Dahua NVR you can come straight from the PoE ports - as seen in the video - however on Hik you have to have a switch in the middle. Still can save on runs though.
- or at least this was the case last time we tested prior to becoming a Dahua Distributor in January. So correct, we no longer sell Hikvision.
Is it possible to run two energy eating pan tilt zoom cameras?
Hi Sam, I apologise for not seeing this sooner. Please see below:
The baluns only support two 802.3af (15.4W) devices. Most PTZs are 802.3at (25.5W) and more advanced PTZs can sometimes need more (hence why we stock 60W injectors).
If you're able to find a PTZ that is 802.3af (15.4W) powerable, you will be able to power it plus another device over one cable using this method just like the turrets shown in the video. Let us know if you find one!
I have a poe camera set up and I need another camera to run off the same cable 50m away. Would this work?
Yes depending on how sophisticated the camera is. Lights.. pzt... etc etc
This RJ45 spliter/combiner not working at all. We tried but only one camera working, no video from 2nd camera and after some time first cameras also get Off.
This sounds like it could be one of a few issues. For example, if the baluns are at fault they won't work at all, not intermittently as described.
How far is the full run end to end?
We'd suggest trying a short patch lead directly to the balun and camera - then flip the balun over to confirm if the balun is fine.
If so, this would indicate an issue in the cable run perhaps - let us know the outcome.
sama seperti yg saya alami
what is the maximum distance it works?
Up to 100M I believe!
What about cameras that are pzt and lights? Is it enough power?

@@MastDigitalUK if I ordered 2 of these will it work? on one line?
DC 12.0V⎓2A,
@@jonathanlee6444 Max. 1 pair of baluns per cable run. You'll be unable to daisy chain them if that's what you're referring to?
cheaper and better to use a mini 4 port switch
Neither is true. These adapters are $5 and you save yourself the hassle of setting up static ips
