  • Ryan Benson was the first winner of 'The Biggest Loser' in 2005 and lost 122 pounds. He now admits he is heavier today than he was on the show. He says he worked hard on the show to go from 330 pounds to 208 pounds but he found it impossible to stick to the show's strict diet and exercise regimen. "I slipped back into my old habits real quick. Within the next year or two and in about four or five years I had put back on all of the weight," he told Inside Edition. #InsideEdition

  • @Ratchet98
    @Ratchet98 Před 7 lety +6

    This is exactly what happens when you restrict your calories and exercise at the same time. Sure you will lose weight for awhile, but over the long term you will gain all of your weight back. Caloric restriction never works, and the only way to lose weight and maintain a healthy weight is to eat the right amount of calories that your body needs everyday instead of starving yourself.

    • @MinecraftLikeBoss
      @MinecraftLikeBoss Před 7 lety

      Vegan BT your literally contradicting yourself lol, Youre saying" you need to eat the right amount of calories your body need in order to lose weight" its physically impossible to lose any kind of weight while maintaining calories , Thats against the laws of conservation of energy, You have to be in a caloric defecit in order for your body burn fat for energy

    • @Ratchet98
      @Ratchet98 Před 7 lety

      Aspectrum I dont think you understood what I said. Lets say you need 2100 calories a day to maintain a healthy bmi or weight, but instead you eat 3000 calories. Those extra 900 calories get stored as excess weight and you end up overweight as a result. If you want to lose weight of course you need to go on a caloric deficit which in this case if you wanted to have a healthy bmi you would have to eat 900 less calories a day. However you shouldnt go from stuffing your face to starving yourself, which is exactly what they do on the biggest loser combined with exercise. You cant live on less calories than your body actually needs, so if you want to lose weight and not worry about gaining it all back you need to figure out the amount of calories you need to maintain a healthy bmi or weight so you stay satisfied over the long term if that makes sense.

    The problem is that he is back on a "diet" that is only plant-based. Yes, it's the healthiest way but it's not realistic when you work and live in a fast-food world and don't have hours a day to work out. This is why all of the Biggest Loser contestants regain their weight to begin with. The people I know who truly conquer their obesity do so by incorporating healthy eating (more fruits, vegetables) into an average American diet. So instead of going back to burgers and fries they might get the salad with chicken or maybe a chicken sandwich with a side salad. They'll still eat pizza but maybe one or two slices instead of the whole pie. That way you don't feel deprived yet you aren't eating the super-fattening way you used to eat. We as a society have an "all or nothing" mentality which is not realistic. Either we eat totally Paleo or we say forget it and pass the fries.

  • @wedgeantilles4712
    @wedgeantilles4712 Před 7 lety +1

    The term "the biggest loser" can have one or two meanings as I see it. First of all, that traditional eliminination process should never have existed in the show, because it tells us one thing about the show and their obligation to help and that is, you're not good enough to recieve our help, please leave.
    Second of all, they leave it up to the contestants to decide who should stay or not, but that's just because the host and her two drill sergeants don't want to have that responsibility on their shoulders.
    That's just my two cents.

      Pendejo Zuniga everything. I drink only water and organic protein shake. I eat only organic stuff. no sex, red meat, bread, or sweats. only fish and chicken must be organic / wild caught. two meals a day. going to the damn gym 5 time a week. it doesn't work.

I did my research and i found out most of the foods and drinks cause cancer. I only eat and drink organic stuff. even the shampoo and body wash must be organic. thanks to the ''simple truth''.

    Well it's kinda his fault. Obviously you need to continue eating healthy and exercising...like wtf

  • @gilbertaarchuletta4696

    The reason why contestants from the biggest loser end up gaining weight back is because of extreme diets and extreme exercise which made them lose weight so fast that there body starts to get used to it and in order to keep that weight off they would have to continue with that type of lifestyle and it gets harder and harder as they get older because your metabolism starts to naturally slow down with age

  • @TerraMarie34

    I think people need to try vegan snacks.Not become vegan, but eating your regular foods -in moderation- and instead of eating that bag of chips or ice cream and cake for dessert, find a healthier alternative. If you really want to be healthy then you can put yourself of a strict diet. Been there, done that, diets don't work. You have to change your lifestyle.
