Excellent video Nate! Been grinding since 96 (16 yrs old)… it’s amazing how too much material removed can negatively impact the WHOLE engine dynamics! When people ask me How much to take, I say Less is more, until you know a little more is more… until then, a little more is worse than before!! 😅😎 Excellent chamber work and notes on maintaining the material around the gasket. 🚀
+kanpowersports1 I guess to clarify, the seats get ported and blended with the bowl, and after all work the angles are re-cut for the valve. Then after assembly, a leak check is performed. If it is a job where bigger, or new seats are installed; I do this first, then either port or cut them on the cnc machine, and then proceed like described above
You know what your talking about for sure, i almost messed up my heads (intake side) . Makes sense to keep it rough to keep fuel atomized. I would think on 2 stroke that the oil would stick as well on intake side if over polished?
I recently bought an 08 yfz450 it has an Athena 480 big bore kit. the cylinder head has .06mm of warp around the exhaust port. If I shave that much off the head surfaces? is there anything I can use to keep the space between the piston and valves and the compression ratio? It has k&n air filter kit and a fmf mega bomb header and fmf silencer, jetting suggestions would be welcome. Great video. Thank you
Blueprinting is measuring and identifying everything in the motor and Blueprinting it. So you know what you have in the specs. What you doing is porting and polishing that's all. Have a great day
+whole tur Because this is a play head that is ridden hard all day. The guides should only be addressed for hill shooter/drag bikes that are only run for a few moments at a time, and then rested. You'll experience shorter valve and guide life shortening the guides on a severe duty play engine.
kanpowersports1 I just installed a new piston and cylinder. Perhaps i did a bad job? It was a cheaper brand. But the gaskets piston rings and cylinder were all brand new.
a before and after would have been cool.
good video dude!

Thank You for your kind words :)
Looks Awesome so far!!!
i usually recut the seats. often times since you're there it makes sense to fit new valves. But, on a budget, yours can go back in if fine.

Nice work. 👍
yea I seen a video or few polishing the crap out of everything. Then I watched one they have a cnc dimpler. I want one or few
Great video
When you do porting like that (stage 1) do you need to remove the seat valve or if you live them do you need to regrind them

Dumb question can you knock the tops off the valve guides? When porting?
What did you use for this job.. I noticed you said free hand

How about dimpling the intake?
Would you work on an 72 xl 250 I'm building for a vintage racing
Shit wish I watched this last night..I just took a shit load of mine at home..hopefully it works

"Blueprinting" is bringing the engine to factory specification, neither you nor the video producer knows what they are talking about
@@colbyhutzellfishingvideos4365You two are both wrong smh. Why comment on things you don't know much about. Smh
Do more for videos for yfz 450 please
Do you still do this work? How can I get in touch?
What does all the work done to the combustion chamber do to your compression ratio?
reduces compression ratio costing you power LOL
I also need some help with my 450f...errr a lot of help it's the nut behind the bars that's the problem
Are copper berylium seats best to use?
This mainly depends on the material and duty cycle of the valve itself. There are certain material combos to definitely avoid.
How much?
Do you repair heads my bike dropped a valve and it took a chunk out of the spark plug hole
Sorry not that kind of repair
How come you didnt cut back the guides on this head?

That's not true not on a yfz head with buckets
do you still do port jobs
+Jorge Dominguez Yes, Jorge we do.You can find us on facebook, too. Kan Powersports

Let's ask chrisfix.
my son crf70 exhaust is completely black and the bike runs horrible. i replaced the valve and still doing the same, would this be the solution?
It's more likely to have a worn piston, and/or rings, burning oil that sneaks past them.

Try to reduce the main jet.
We are very fair priced for this service!
