Shadow was the most unique and original calypsonian the world has ever seen. He never sounded like nor imitated anyone and no other sounded like him. He will be surely missed. I am really feeling this loss😢 God speed my brother. R.I.P
These were the days of Shadow at his BEST under the musical directorship of Professor Art De Coteau. After the death of Art De Coteau, Shadow switched to Frankie McKintosh for a period. Under Frankie, Shadow did continue to exhibit his lyrical and melodic prowess, but it was never the same in terms of the musical arrangements under Frankie. The magic/DeZessness was gone!
It seemed like no other arranger of that era was suitable to arrange for Shadow other than Art DeCoteau. Art was able to decipher what was going on in Shadow's complexed mind and bring it all to life. It was a musical match made in heaven. When Art died he could've continued with Pelham Goddard who learned to arrange under Art and played keyboards on most of Art arranged recordings of that era. Instead, Frankie MacIntosh became the go-to arranger and he's one of the best in the business but in my opinion, Art heavy bass emphasis was the cornerstone of Shadow's compositions and it worked like magic.

Lyrics below ~
I was alone
Away from home
Quite in Toco
Making Calypso
And in the middle of the night
Jumbies came out in the bright
They heard the melody
So they come to jump with me
Chorus 1
We want Calypso
Sing more Calypso
We love Calypso
Sing more Calypso
Ah try to run
They tell me don't run
Ah try to beg
Dey tie up meh leg
We want Calypso
Sing more Calypso
We having fun
'Til morning come
And if you stop dat jam
We'll make you a jumbie man
When I start to sing
I heard a bell ring
A familiar sound
I said something wrong
Then all meh bodyguards from hell
Invade the place as well
Jumbies run up in the back
Hear dem singing in the dark
Chorus 2
We want Calypso
Sing more Calypso
We love Calypso
Sing more Calypso
Ah try to run
They tell me don't run
Ah try to beg
They tie up meh leg
We want Calypso
Sing more Calypso
We having fun
'Til morning come
And if you stop dat jam
We'll take you to jumbie land
Then Mister Farell
My bassman from hell
He came with a bass
Trouble in the place
And when Farell start to jam
Place warm like tiger balm
I want to join them in the dance
But ah trembling in me pants
Chorus 3
We want Calypso
Sing more Calypso
We love Calypso
Sing more Calypso
Ah try to run
They tell me don't run
Ah try to beg
They tied up meh leg
We want Calypso
Sing more Calypso
We having fun,
'Til morning come
And if you stop dat jam
We'll take you to jumbie land
We want Calypso
Sing more Calypso
We love Calypso
Sing more Calypso
