Not all the endings, lol. I followed one path of being nice and having flirtations the first time, the second time, I did nothing for anyone. I decided to keep the RV and in the end, I went off on an adventure by myself (no Angie and no Robert). It was pretty cool. It's different than all the other endings I've seen. It does make the game more boring, though, as you do nothing except the Wednesday campfire thing so you can get the RV.

I guess it would sort of be antithetical to the whole point of the story. Like you are supposed to think if what brings you happiness is your career and money (going back to the city) or if it's stability and stress free simplicity (staying in the town) or following your heart to adventures (RV trip) and decide. The romances pretty clearly reflect this too as the home life with a lumberjack is a safe option but being openly gay with Angie in the 80's is definitely a radical choice.
If you could get the following your heart with Angie and the money it'd kind of defeat the point of choosing as it'd just be the obvious best choice. What kind of messes the game over in my mind is that you can play the game in a way that allows you to get it all at the end so then not getting it all at the actual end feels off. If I had to actually ever choose in the game whether or not I'd have a date night with Robert or Angie or if I worked and it'd actually lock me out of some endings that'd be far better thematically.
It kinda sucks though, since that was definitely the ending I was gunning for while playing. It would have been nice to actually have like the option of bringing it up with Angie at least like hey do you wanna come with?

Dude that is the end I was playing towards. It all lined up perfectly! Her talking about how the vhs business is about to blow up but not in a small town. Em helping steve with the mmmmmmonster deal and him making her his number two when he became CEO. I was like hell yeah gonna take Angie and whisk her away to NYC so I can work my baller Executive job and help finance her movie rental business in the big apple.
Aaannnnnnnnnnd nope. No option for that ending.... HOW DID THE DEVELOPERS NOT WRITE IN THAT ENDING?!?! IT WAS PERFECT.
It made so much more sense for Angie's movie buff of a character. But no instead she goes off and travels around in an RV like a hippy??? Where the hell did that come from?
This infuriated me more than it probably should have.

I decided to go to back to my job. She's a studied programmer and more women should be in that business. I also was a little bored by the tedious work delivering mail to empty houses, so would she after some months.
However, the end felt flat and as I can see now, the others aren't any better. The designer should have show a small slide show of some polaroid pictures about what will happen to her the next years.

I absolutely love this game. I felt Angie been showed romantic interests. & We knew something was up, when everytime she invited Meredith out, we had the option to pick "is this a date?"
Robert, on the other hand, gave me strong friend vibes. I feel he got a bit lonely and started looking at Meredith in a love interest way at the veryy last diner scene. But it still wasn't enough to pick him.
Plus, the mail delivery was too repetitive. Being in a town she grew up in was too safe and a comfort zone. & The big city had big money, but she never had time to check up on loved ones or do anything.
SO, everything led to Angie. The adventure, the multiple dates and talks they had, and the chemistry! LOVE this game!

I just finished this game, I feel like it lacked a little character development, but in general, I was happy with the number of dialogs available. I deeply think perspective changes a lot how you see the endings. Like Meredith, I consider myself an accomplished professional woman, and I often find myself in her place. I sacrificed most of my twenties studying to have a solid career but at what cost? When you put out your head from your work is very easy to find yourself alone, and there's no amount of money that can buy life quality. Most of the comments criticize this but I think as a society there's a huge lack of empathy towards this point, even more from a woman's perspective. From the beginning of the game, I was doubting about going back to the stress and responsibilities of the big city, I just needed a good reason to leave it, but the game doesn't give you one. I would never make a decision based on just wanting to stay with another person. The conversation with the cook-lady hit me deeply, and I realized that even if I chose to stay a little more in P.O, if she got bored, Meredith could always return to the big city. She had a title and plenty of job experience, maybe she wasn't going to be a CEO´s second in command nor a multimillionaire but she could always find another good job.
In the end, I decided to stay in P.O a little longer and got the Robert ending in the middle of the delivery, for me it was the icing on the cake and I hopped right into the car. It wasn't as if Meredith was going to get married to Robert xd, they were just two adults, wondering if they could work together as a couple, giving each other a chance. It looked really mature and I liked that you can get directly into the car, and the options of hugging and kissing are separate since for me it didn't make sense to actually kiss him yet. Overall I really liked the game, but I understand someone younger wouldn't understand Meredith´s dilemma of coming back to her stressful city life. She was going to go back to an amazing contract and tons of money, but would she be able to enjoy it? she would be subjected to even more stress and less free time for at least 5 years, and, as her friend said, times fly and pass you by.
Thanks for the other endings! (I couldn't tolerate the blond LI, she was in a totally different life stage, she was funny though, as a friend)

I spent my 20s looking for a career and found it in a big city and I have no love for the podunk towns I grew up in. Em's life was stressful, but other than an ass of a boss, I feel like she'd have spent her time to get exactly where she was. Throwing it all away so she can play Hallmark Movie #341 makes so little sense. On the other hand, I'm a supportive partner and I've always tried to support people in their dreams, even if that meant leaving me behind. Maybe because I'm gay, but it was a lot easier to make the choice to leave PO behind with someone. Almost everyone in PO was a rude asshole. Your childhood friend is an asshole. An old woman can't remember your name. A hotel clerk is an asshole. The general store owner is an asshole. The fisherman is an asshole. Frank and Jack are both assholes. The only people who aren't are some lumberguy and a 15 year old girl.

    • @Camila-ox6be
      @Camila-ox6be Před rokem

I'm glad you did (and ty for answering me) but I wrote my experience since I felt no one was explaining this option and why for some of us it made sense. I'm glad you found your job, I'm a city person too, I wasn't saying I would like to hang around town forever, I think I make it clear that she could go back whenever she wanted, is just that I thought she wasn't ready to go back to the city, she was clearly burned, it happens a lot with jobs that have tons of responsibility and I identified with that.
On the other side, I'm not unsupportive but I'm not going to be with someone that needs my support to make their life project, I can support them, but I don't want someone who cannot do it without me, I like my partner on the independent side, as I am.
And for the people in town, yeah they are assholes just as people in the city, it isn't because of the people, is just the slower pace of a rural town, sometimes people like me needs it to get their energy back. Hope you're doing great.

I wanted Meredith and Angie to end up together, but I didn't like that just as they start getting close Angie's basically like "Alright, time to get the fuck out of this town!" When Angie said that she hoped Meredith's plans involved her, I was hoping there'd be an ending where they could stay in town and get her business back up and running. I was already planning on staying, so it was kind of sad when I had to turn her down when she wanted to hit the road.

I chose to go back to the city life. Felt bad for Robert. As a guy I can definitely see myself in his situation. Also felt bad leaving best friend (Kay) behind as well as Maureen. Kay has her own family and is taking over the diner anyway. But it totally made sense to go back to big city. Meredith has a MIT degree, so must be super qualified for her job. That monster deal netted their company over $8 million dollars and they want to make her partner? Even if she just stuck to the 5 year deal, I'm sure she would' ve made enough money to retire early. Her parents relocated to Florida and I assumed the big city was located on the East Coast. She would be "closer" to her family. Plus, her parents don't sound super rich, seeing as dad worked in postal service and mom worked at Motel, hence the big job in big city would benefit her family in the long run. If I was Meredith, I'd take the big job, tell parents to sell their house in P.O. and enjoy retirement in Florida. I'd have enough money to visit P.O. on occasion, but sad reality is that I'd gradually live my own life in NY/Boston and visit the folks in Florida for holidays. Who knows? Maybe even find love on the east coast

There are similar endings to these. If you stay in town and reject Robert, simply you drive alone and nothing occurs. If you take the RV alone, without Angie... mmm I'm not sure if I lived this ending... I think Robert would also stop you, and you can go with him or reject him.

I found it weird how the game makes it *MUCH* easier for players to accidentally have Meredith stumble into a rushed & improbable mid 80s lesbian discovery with Angie than establishing a romance with Robert. I was totally caught off guard by the fact that literally the first time Meredith hangs out with Angie after like 2 or 3 casual chats at her video store while making her deliveries, I was abruptly given the option out of nowhere to have Meredith kiss Angie, regardless of the purely platonic dialogue choices prior. This can happen halfway through the game, which enables the player to continue interacting with Angie with a now romantic dynamic clearly established.
The romance with Robert however can't be established until literally the very end of the game & is entirely contingent on Meredith leaving her career to stay in Providence Oaks for him. Almost as if saying "See you should have gone with Angie!", the developers of this game even give the player the dialogue option of calling Robert out for being a selfish hypocrite for expecting Meredith to abruptly give up her career for him on the spot when he isn't willing to do the same by leaving with her. So yeah I think the developers had a clear bias on the direction they wanted to the player to go.

Yea to me a lesbian relationship to be that upfront about it seemed very unrealistic for that era. They acted like there was no taboo concerning being a lesbian during the 80s 😂

In my mind Roberts going with Meredith to big city. Doesn't make sense if Meredith can make lots of money and Robert loves her but in the end he is not going with her. Considering the possibilities Robert needs to go with her. This is not true love at all
