Going to IKEA because you miss the Swedish food happens. As a Swede in the UK, I know. It happens.
They serve food in IKEA?
Maria S' Maria honey you’ve been living under a sten lol
As an American in America, I've never been tempted by the food at Ikea. Now I'm curious
@@marias7599 Yes they serve food in the restaurant in American IKEA, and also have a grocery store after you check out with Swedish foods and candies.
They dont have tunnbrödsrullar in the US? Weirdos.
LANLAMPAN it looks like what the Americans might describe as Tex-Mex. I don't live in either countries but I might try making this one at home.
Button Nose Nah, we eat tex mex in Sweden too. Tunnbrödsrulle is pretty much a hotdog with mashed potatoes in a tortilla-like bread. (We use a swedish bread called tunnbröd)
Its called poor food. When you're Mexican and all you have is hotdogs and tortillas. *shrug* those memories.
***** Okay
barcafredde Ah..du har ingen jävla räksallad i din tunnbrödrulle?..
Lying in the snow after you've been in the sauna actually feels awesome.
Yeah and going in ice water is the best too
I'm Finnish and kind of a chicken s*** when it comes to extreme cold... :-D I'm afraid I'd get a heart attack if I tried. Even the pain in my ankles is too much.
It's actually very bad because you're shocking your cells. It does not contribute to anything unless you are trying to improve your body to survive switching between drastic temperatures rapidly.
Tunnbrödsrulle is a Swedish fast food dating back to the 50s or 60s, when the Swedish fast food chain of restaurants held a contest for people to present their personal recipes for a fast food. Tunnbröd is a traditional flatbread from the north of Sweden, so it’s not exactly a tortilla, since it is slightly seasoned. It’s a classic drunk food, very messy and impossible to eat with dignity.
Does it mean "thin bread roll"?
@@ArnHaz It does.
@@mattiasjp Figures. English and Swedish are distant Germanic cousins after all. P.S. Thanks for responding to my query five years after your original message. You get a medal for that.
@@ArnHaz I humbly accept the medal. 😊
actually true that nudity is not very controversial here. my mom used to walk around the house naked after a shower when i was under 10 years old. once you begin to hit puberty, this completely disappears
Im algerian and its the same her
Wow, as a college student with make-shift cooking skills I've totally been making that dish by accident as meals
For the maximum Swedish version you go tunnbrödsrulle with some räksallad in there, also you need to drink Pucko to make it real authentic and rural Swedish. Another tip to fine-dining Swedish style is to order a "Grillad Special", that´s a hot pan grilled hot dog in a bun with mashed potatoes on top. Add some pickled cucumber on top of that and you really should be starting to speak Swedish by now. Also called Raggarballe with Svängdörr if you ever visit the naked land of family sauna.
Greaserdick with swing doors, mustard, ketchup and fried onions
RAGGARBALLE!?!?!? HAHAHAHAHAHAH
äh vafan sauna hör till finland. Skulle va på badhuset dårå. själv e jag uppväxt med ångbastu!
How about Sybilla burger with räksallad??
***** I was born in an Ångbastu!
you know you are swedish when you have Å,Ä.Ö n your keyboard
Ø Æ Å greetings from Norway :D
***** You have "yksi kaksi kolme" ..
winston Churchill Yeah that's true Å, Ä, Ö…
winston Churchill hahah sant! ÄÅÖÄÖÅÖÄ
winston Churchill I only have Ü Õ Ö Ä, try figuring out where I'm from.
Malin Åkerman Eurovision host 2024 😍👍
"Tuunbresruule."
That was priceless.
FAN correction!! Big bird is already naked in sesame street.
I was in Norway, (and yes I know that Norway and Sweden are different countries) but in the only 5 days that I was there, we were running back and forth from the Sauna out into the snow, and definitely eating a lot of hot dogs wrapped in tortillas from 711. :) Scandinavia is awesome. Can't wait to go back.
Tbh as much as swedish people dont consider her swedish I can relate to her because I was born in sweden and my family moved to britain when I was 7, im 21 now but Ive always felt more Swedish than ive felt British especially since I spent my childhood in sweden, which I consider to the be the best part of my life lol
"Tunnbrödsrulle"... that is a word I would never ever in life imagine I would hear on american tv..... #BestFood
Malin: "They call it 'Tunnbrödsrulle'!"
Conan: "Tunnbrudsrolle"?
Me: ~Dying from laughter~
Seriously, I laughed so hard that I almost puked, and I haven't even eaten today yet!
+Bernler75
He sucks so bad at it. xD
Men nu blev man fan sugen på tunnbrö..
+Bernler75 When he talked about the coco-clock it sounded like he said "tunnbröstrulle", meaning thin-breast-roll instead of thin-bread-roll.
Trasirshall I'm aware. I am Swedish too :)
Bernler75
yeah, I got that. But you only mentioned when he said "Tunnbrudsrolle" so I thought I add my impression of his last attempt at pronouncing it. The pronunciation was a bit muddled so maybe others heard something other than "bröst" in that part - so I thought I better comment to check. The translation was just for English speakers who might read the comment and wonder how the difference in pronunciation/spelling effects the meaning. :D
omg same here i laughed so hard my mom came in to the room she thought i was crazy!
She needs to be in more movies
As a finnish person I'd like to point out that not everyone is like this.. I don't love being naked in front of others, lol. But I guess in general pretty accurate. :D Props to Conan for mentioning us tho, hilarious interview!!
I did a Facebook quiz years ago that said I should live my life in Finland. Im from England, and I ave not been to Finland, but I think if I move anywhere it should be somewhere hot.
What's the best thing about Finland?
Well don't expect it to be HOT here.. we do get pretty warm summers but it always feels so short. I do like the four seasons, that way you appreciate the warm and spring.. if you like snow, then that's fun too.. healthcare and education are great and you do feel pretty secure here. It's a great country to live in!
hhmmm Im not sold on it. Healthcare and education are not what I look for. I would trade that for sunshine and warmth. I feel like our summer is too short here. I need more
SpacedTime
Well I can guarantee longer and warmer summer here than in England.. like +25-30 degrees is just right. But yeah maybe something more in the south of Europe if you want hot weather!
SpacedTime I don't live in Finland but in Sweden, which is similiar enough I guess. This is what I have to say: If you move there, you will eventually forget what the sun looks like. During autumn and winter it's dark almost the entire day. The lack of sun in this region is so evident that from late winter and early spring and on whenever a speck of sunlight finds its way through to the ground people will flock in hordes to that spot ( no matter the location or spot) to sunbathe and just take in as much of the sun as possible before it dissappears again in a glimpse. It really does look comical!
There is one scene in a classic swedish kids movie called "Ronja Rövardotter", where about 15 grown naked men are rolling around in the snow to wash themselfs. 😊 One of my favorite movies as a kid.
Tuumbus rrrruula!! My favorite Conan interview ever.
Hahahaha Conan you make me laugh like no other American can, your jokes are funny and this just makes this it more perfect then the others just because I’m Swedish myself
i would love to go to the sauna with her to learn something about the swedish tradition.
You sweat and then you rinse and then you are clean. is a method of getting clean as well as relaxed, see also Roman baths or Turkish baths. Anglo-Saxons and their ilk where never much for getting thamselves clean, that is the real reason why the women in England liked the Vikings, cleanliness.
that's not the thing HE's thinking, is it :P ?
which would be a bit derp, because 1) it is very impractical in sauna 2) openly considered, not a rude thing but straight up fuck you to the owner of that sana.
ThumbsHunter sauna is Finnish tradition originally, just pointed that out. Swedish also have their sauna traditions forsure
Creep
@@EattinThurs61 No, they went with the vikings because they were forced to lol.
Great now everyone thinks everyone in sweden are nude. Thanks Malin
hey man! don't ruin it!!!!
Alexander Skarsgard said thesame thing on an earlier episode.
Amanda Dehlén
no, maybe in your home you guys don't walk around naked, but the majority of us do. almost everyone i know do actually.
Hanne Panne You do?! Maybe I'm not that swedish as I thought, but the thing is that my family is either swedish since like more than 6 generations back. Ohh well...
Dude im nude right now.
Nudity is normal.
No. go away
No, it just is
Albert Varland Are you naked under your clothes? EEEEEEEEEWWWWWWWWWWWWHHH
@@David-sm5ll Family sex? What the hell are you talking about? There's nothing sexual with a sauna.
@@albertvarland1156
Yes, nudity is obviously normal - humans are the only species in the history of the world who regularly wear clothes, so it's actually _wearing_ clothes that is unnatural.
It's just much more socially accepted to wear clothes than to be nude in public.
Woo!! "The great country of Finland" aww love you too Conan 😘😘
TUNE BRO STRULLAAAA!!! is a skyrim thume.
strula means something else hahaha :D "to make out"
tunn bröds rulle is what she is saying
***** Except without the separation. "Tunnbrödsrulle" is the correct term.
In a raw translation it means "thin bread roll".
Boomerino
hahahaha dafuq jag försökte hjälpa personen förstå vad hon säger, ville inte göra det för komplicerat. Det var därför jag delade på ordet ofta han ska gå runt o skriva så nu hahaha =)

Malin Akerman is everything.
3:15 Var f-n är räksalladen? Och spännande med tortillabröd. 😂😂😂
I love her
TUNNBRÖDSRULLE OMFG MY FAV
What she is describing it sounds like she is more from Finland than Sweden...
Traditions may seem weird from others perspective. I really loved Conan's reactions. :)
I'm swedish, what is so swedish about a fucking hotdog? Swedish food is like meatballs, that special kind of pancake, lingon jam, salted sushi in a can, really hard crispy bread, it's farmers food. Has she really nothing else to talk about than that she spent the two first years of her life in Sweden, you're CANADIAN!
she should have brought a can of surströmming, and open it.
RheinIand Oh god please no, I had that once and I can still remember the smell. It's horrid. If she did bring it along and open it they probably wouldn't have shot a Conan for a long time.
Why isnt it swedish food? To me the turkpizza is swedish food. Why is ur preception of swedish food the right one?
Victor Andersen
Because Sweden has a history dating back hundreds of years. Just because a bunch of turks have invaded it in the last couple of decades doesn't mean turk pizza should be considered swedish food.
Fan pojk, har du aldrig varit vid en riktig korvmoj nångång i ditt liv?
En halv special?
Fyllekäk nummer ett!
Conan is king !
Malin ackerman has a very interesting face. Like, i've never seen a face like hers before. She looks almost unreal, like a doll. She's beautiful!!
Tunnbrödsrulle is literally a "Thinbread-roll". And while the pic in the vid probably shows a tortilla, the original dish only uses the traditional (square) pieces of Tunnbröd that has been used since the fifties here in Sweden.
awww conan still remembers finland :3
Hahahaha funniest pronunciation of "tunnbrödsrulle" ever.
Don't make fun of her! She is a representative of your country! Canada!
While definitely doable and probably quite tasty, tunnbrödsrulle is generally not served on a tortilla. Traditionally you would use tunnbröd (literally thin bread) which is a traditional Swedish bread that works great with all sorts of toppings.
Ikea swedish meatballs taste pretty good eh made from horsemeat and doesnt afraid of anything
Yeah, I was surprised Conan didn't bring up Ikea's secret horsemeat scandal, though I'm not positive that news came out before this interview.
That Irish accent at the end tho!! Hahahahahahaha
When he talked about the coco-clock it sounded like he said "tunnbröstrulle" instead of "tunnbrödsrulle", meaning thin-breast-roll instead of thin-bread-roll. XD
Oh snap! I didn't know she was also Canadian, nice.
there's nothing more Swedish than a tortilla.
There's nothing more American than apple pie. No, wait, it was invented in England.
its not actually a tortilla.... its something called a "lompe", wich is a tortilla made out of potato flour... theres just no specific english word for it.....
Anita Dittrich Tack.
falafel is the nr 1 swedish meal
Anita Dittrich
I've never heard "lompe". It might be Norwegian?
It's called "tunnbröd" in Swedish.
"Tunnbröd" literally means "thin bread". The dish is called, as Malin says, "tunnbrödsrulle" - literally "roll of thin bread".
hahaha garvar ihjäl mig! "Tunnbrödsrulle"
Dam he spok it the Wright way :) i am impressed coanen :)
I need to visit Sweden someday.
she laughs and lights up and the Sun is jealous.
hahaha laughed so hard at tunnbrödsrulle
Oh man, I could really go for a tunnbrödsrulle right about now
I've lived in Sweden in my entire life but I have never ever tasted a "tunnbrödsrulle". I feel like an immigrant now.
Hopefully you tried it now, it`s so good.
That's what Alexander Skarsgård was saying about being from Sweden.
What about falukörv? (Its actually falukorv but skånska is like that)
beror på vilken del av skåne :P hör många säga kårv haha
Daniel Johansson
vet i fan var ni bor men man här säger vi falukorv
Falukörv sounds more like from värmland. Heliköpter!
*****
lol conan is hilarious
Help I’m dying actually dying I want to meet her
you know what i love about sweden the most? JAS-39 Gripen 'nough said.
Yes! Tunnbrödsrulle!
Thin-bread rolls/wraps: "Tunnbrödsrullar", I think. Correct me if I'm wrong. ☺
Swedish sauna is too cold for Finns
Hah, I am from Sweden and one of my equally Swedish uncles was once challenged on a sauna bath by a bunch of Finnish people, since his wife is from Finland, and he was _determined_ to win and outclassed everyone else.
He earned a lot of respect after that.
I am a little late watching this video but that tunnbrastruul (I am sure i butchered the word) i looking pretty good, never mind the cute lady.....that hotdog in tortilla is looking sooo goooooodd !!
3:11 Hot dog-taco Conan! That is what it is!
she was in Watchmen! it was hard to recognize her.
The hot dog in taco thing is Danish and it's called Pølse i think, idk i'm from Sweden
Haha jag visste seriöst inte att det var tunnbrödsrulle! 😂
Har aldrig smakat det dock...
It shouldent be a tortilla, it should be tunnbröd, like in the word tunnbrödsrulle. Taking one of them in the middle of the night after a night out is HEAVEN!
haha!! tunbrasrolle xD he actually prenounced it pretty good :P
Thanks Malin...i just saw you on NBC. No one believes me when i rant about why we are only seeing 2 presidential candidates. There REALLY are more! You also solved the conundrum of long A, short A, ... question mark A. Now i know it has the circle over it. I will share this with my 6 y.o i tutor. Thanks! Kw
You dont use tortilla as tunnbröd when making tunnbrödsrulle, You use, tunnbröd.
Originally, the bread that is used to make a "tunnbrödsrulle" isn't a tortilla. It's called "tunnbröd" and is slightly thicker and tastes much better.
Ah, Sauna.... I miss sauna. It's been too long...
Miss all the 🍆?
aaah...tunnbrödsrulle and sauna, that's the stuff ^^ allthough, I never use a tortilla, I use good old Sarek tunnbröd :P
Do others use tortillas? Or is that just a recent thing they might do?
MisterFuturtastic No, she obviously didn't have access to the real bread..
MisterFuturtastic
If you use tortillas for a tunnbrödsrulle you need to lay of the crack right now.
WTF? I was curious if Swedish people ate different nationalities foods like we do in America...
MisterFuturtastic We do. Pizza, Kebab, Tex-Mex and Hamburgers is some of the most common food dishes here in Sweden.
LMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! awesome!!!
Yeah I'm a Finn and that sounds just about right...
Haha never seen a Tunnbrödsrulle, I've lived in Sweden next in to my whole life…
That hot dog thing looks like something I made at 3am once
When I was in Sweden we'd wear a robe and then go skinny dipping at the local pond. When I was a preteen I'd go skinny dipping with my siblings and my parents. My mom was appalled when she saw that babies had swim suits in the US. Of course swim diapers is a great invention. lol
I actually never thought "lompe" with sausage sAw such a Scandinavian thing, and so alien for americans.
I've s seen 'lompe' as the alternative for sausagebread for the people who wants more sausage than bread
Screamd so hard of laghfter on tunnbrödrulle
If malin akerman was my friend I would never complain about getting naked in a hot tub
Conan is the best interviewer on TV, hands down.
Craig Ferguson is better.
He's good, but Graham Norton is the king.
That Tunnbrödsrulle is missing a good slab of Pickled Gherkin relish...Some people would add shrimp salad on there too but people who eat shrimp salad are just crazy
Those legs.... Aw yissss...
that shit looks nice. i am making it tonight!
*Happy 40th Birthday Malin*
Conan mentioned Finland!!! Day's been made.
"tunnbrödsrulle" : tunn = thin, bröd = bread, rulle = roll.
Silk specter!
Hahaha, as a Swede I approve of this XD
she only lived in Sweden for two years before moving to Canada
Gylenhaaaaaal
oh. my god.
Gilla om du är svensk och kollar på detta
I need to learn Swedish, it's so beautiful...
10 years later, any updates? :)
i wouldnt be against a trip to the sauna with Malin Akerman
Well you could take a shower now and then for starters, that would also make you clean.
"Tuunbrödsruule", hahaha. Nice try Conan.
I'm a swede. 3:34 This part maked me laugh ass hell!!!!!! ;D
+Negnav123 "maked"... Don't embarrass us... ._.
+Negnav123 ANYONE READING HIS COMMENT, HE ISN'T SWEDISH! PLEASE DON'T BELIEVE HE IS!
Negnav123 laugh as hell. that doesn't sound right
whaaat I'm swedish and iv never seen that tunnbrödsrulle?!
John Smith It's not like it's 1614 and the world isn't globalized. I'm born and raised in Malmö, Sweden. So are my parents.
Didn't know tortilla hotdogs were a swedish thing, I have always done the same thing but just because decent buns are a couple mile walk away and tortillas keep alot longer and be gotten anywhere.
In a real tunnbrödsrulle u dont use tortilla but a classic Swedish bread called tunnbröd
@@vilgotpark7811 tortilla is just the local generic flatbread but basically any flatbread I can get locally.
Though I am sure that is not one of them as I would have to go to IKEA to get that.
Men sanningen är,
Sauna is really a finnish thing. No surprise sauna is also a finnish word.
Swedes do a kind of mix of steamroom and sauna.
When finns heat it and throw the steamwater in their common way, 20% of the finnish bathers move downwards to minimize heat. The equivalent of swedes would be 50% moving down, 10% staying on the toplevel (where it´s the hottest) and 40% swedes leaving the sauna. Even the way swedes build the sauna with diffrent and often smaller saunaoven shows the difference.
Often it´s 60+ celsius degrees(Sweden) versus the 80+ celsius (Finland)
The saunabathing worldchampionship has been organised in Finland. A russian died in it. Just as a curiosity fact.
She looks amazing in profile
