  • Hey guys here is the install video for the Banks Power passenger side Boost Tube and the Banks Ram Air Intake kit on my 2021 Ram 2500. These items are by far the best their is on the market today. I hope this video answers any questions you may have about installing these items!
    Her is the link to the boost tube install video on BanksPower.com:

    Here is the link to the Ram Air install instructions on BanksPower.com:
    official.banks...
    Here are some specs on the Boost Tubes. This can also be found on BanksPower.com.
    Specifications
    Banks Boost Tubes are the largest charge air cooler pipes in the industry measuring in at a full 3.5 inches. The factory intercooler pipes are 2.70 inches in diameter on the hot side with crush bent corners and 3.15 inches on the cold side with plastic components. By contrast, Banks Boost Tubes are made of high-quality aluminized steel for maximum strength and durability. With Banks Boost Tubes' smooth bends, your turbo can spool quicker thanks to improved boost pressure retention for maximum horsepower.
    The Boost Tubes work with the stock 6.7L Cummins intake components by using proprietary high-strength 5-ply silicone hoses. Or can be combined with the 3.5" Banks Monster-Ram for maximum Mass Air Flow.
    Key Features
    * Huge increase in size and flow over stock and competitors
    * Hot Side Flow Area is 68% larger vs stock 3.5" vs 2.7"
    * Cold Side Flow Area is 24% larger vs stock 3.4" vs 3.15"
    * Constant 3.5in diameter tubing for the best flow
    * 5-Ply heavy duty silicone couplers
    * Mandrel-bent aluminized steel construction
    * Allow the turbocharger to spool up faster
    * Spring-loaded constant tension clamps
    * Powder coated finish resists corrosion
    Here are some specs on the Ram Air Intake as well. This can also be found on BanksPower.com.
    Specifications:
    Banks Ram-Air Intake feeds your 6.7L Cummins engine cooler, denser, outside air for greater power and fuel economy. Experience the benefits of greater flow, performance, and sound over stock. Its performance is extensively tested and validated: in the computer, using Computational Fluid Dynamics software - on the flowbench - and later, on the vehicle
    Key Features:
    * "Big Ass Filter" Extends service life and requires fewer cleanings
    * Lightweight and durable XLPE mold insulates against heat soak
    * Flows over 51% more CFM than stock at the same pressure
    * Enclosed housing keeps out hot, power-robbing engine air
    * Oversized airbox increases cool air volume around filter
    * More audible and aggressive induction note
    * Connects to OEM Ram-Air Scoop
    * 5-year Limited Warranty
    * No Check Engine Light
    * Oiled Air Filter Element
    Cold Air In
    The Banks Ram-Air removes the restrictive stock S shaped plastic snorkel for a straight connection to the front scoop. This reduces restriction and improves air density within the sealed box maximizing power and throttle response at speed. At highway speeds or when towing, fresh cool air from outside the engine bay is constantly being forced into the airbox, keeping intake temps low and density or Mass Air Flow up.
    Block the heat
    A durable and lightweight XLPE molded construction rejects external heat better than other metal tubes or heat shield designs. With an oversized internal volume, this plenum of fresh cool air is insulated from the engine even when sitting at a stoplight waiting for the next tap of the throttle.
    Maximum Flow
    The Banks Ram-Air intake offers the highest amount of airflow at the lowest pressure loss. Compared to the rest, it is the only intake able to feed enough air into our Monster-Ram Intake Elbow without causing restrictions.

      Thanks for the videos! Appreciate you suffering thru the heat to do this. Have you noticed an fuel mileage increases? I've got the same setup on order but I'm debating on if its truly worth the expense and time. I installed the Ag solutions module and my mpg went from 17 Hwy to 22. It's been the absolute best thing I've ever done to any truck I've owned. I was hoping the banks setup would help mpg since I race motorcycles and pull a trailer a lot. Thanks for your feedback

    • @thejourniganadventures7391
      @thejourniganadventures7391  Před 2 lety +1

      @@boomersuperbike3787 I am glad the videos are appreciated! So when I drove from North Houston to San Antonio my truck was running 21 MPG on the highway. This was well before any upgrades. That is also a good drive as well. I also was not pulling a trailer at that time. Now to current, usually my truck would sit between 14.5-16 ish on normal day to day stuff. I have been trying to get some drive time on everything before I do my test run but so far it is sitting at 16-17.5 on the day to day. I had to take a drive this past Thursday and went about 68 miles round trip and the MPG was steadily on the rise so I can not wait to do my test run.
      My test route is about 80 miles round trip. I wanted to really see where things stand. This is the same route I took to get the baseline and it was not bad. I will go over all of that in the review video. I will say this though, throttle response and turbo spool definitely seem to be enjoying these upgrades. You can really feel a power difference in the top end and on initial take off.
      I agree with you, these are some pricey upgrades but so far, I am not disappointed! I enjoy doing my own work on stuff because when something goes wrong, I know how to fix it! If you enjoy working on stuff I think you will enjoy doing these installs. I will say this on the boost tubes, the one going to the monster ram, make sure it is in the right orientation because that tube is very similar on both ends but one side is ever so slightly more turned. There is an indentation on the fender to allow the stock boost tube to clear and the Banks tube also uses it. If your boost tube is installed and it does not appear to be anywhere near that indentation in the fender it is probably backwards.
      As soon as I get a little more drive time on the truck I will be doing the comparison! Can not wait to hear how your upgrades go.

      That’s no good! I would go through everything, make sure all of your intake plate bolts and monster ram bolts are torqued down. That could cause a boost leaks and throw a code. Like I mentioned in my other comment to you, check the CAI intake sensor and make sure it is installed correctly, check the boost tubes boot clamps and make sure they are tight, installed in the correct orientation (this really applies to the driver side) it can be installed upside down and appear fine but causes a boost leak. @@thejourniganadventures7391 Best wishes it doesn't happen for you. For me, towing a 7,500lb travel trailer, I've cleared the CEL error at least 5 times with an OBD reader and it always comes back but only when towing, and usually only after about 200 miles. Most of the time, the light comes on when using adaptive cruise control and making a minor adjustment up a hill, and then backing off that adjustment. It seems the computer is sensitive to airflow parameters and tweaking acceleration under load tends to trigger the codes. While the codes are benign, no vehicle of mine will be allowed to operate with a gadget that throws false CEL codes. Hence, the dealer who installed the Banks CAI is going to remove it, and Banks said they'll refund me. They know there are issues with the MAFS it introduces, and they keep promising a "fix" but keep selling this CAI intake knowing it's going to cause problems for a lot of owners in outlier situations, like towing up a hill. As a software engineer, I don't think they can fix this without physically altering the design, and to be honest, I grew tired of the increased turbo whine and breathing noise caused by the Banks CAI. Looking forward to returning to stock!
