FINALLY, someone posting info about the Build & Battle decks. I wanted to be an overachiever and plan out potential strategies before this weekend, just so I can get some practice in due to wanting to potentially be a competitive player now. Thanks for this video man.

Next month is Cyclizar EX Box. So, I'll use the Cyclizar EX deck.
Vivillon is actually one of my most anticipated cards from this set for the purposes of Prerelease and GLC format. It's mostly due to the Scatterbug and Spewpa, but for Prerelease, Vivillon is gonna be amazing. Turn 1 being able to get out a high HP Stage 2 is insane, 50 damage T1 can be lethal in some cases, but especially added with that effect, Poison can be a great option, Paralysis if the opponent has an attacking option next turn, or Burn if you know that 20 damage gets you a T1KO. Then, next turn on being able to do 110 is NUTS for such a quickly set up Pokemon.
Torkoal is another excellent option for Prerelease. 80x for each Fire Energy on coin flips is admittedly pretty RNG dependent, but a few flips and you'll KO basically anything, and with enough set up, even ex Pokemon can be OHKOd if you're lucky enough. An amazing card for this and especially in GLC where you can play Burn Brightly Charizard.
They did my boi Scovillain DIRTY. The unofficial translations up on PokeBeach had it's second attack called "Super-Hot Yee Haw," and that's just an amazing name compared to the officially translated "Super Spicy Breath."
I'm glad someone else realizes the potential of Penny. Favorite character, and definetly one I think is going to be slept on, but worth looking at since Scoop Up Net is rotating out soon.
SUPER sad were getting Naranja Nemona but not Uva Nemona. I like the purple more.
I'm sure they'll add the other Nemona into a different set or bonus product soon enough!

Ngl this is the first reverse foil since gen4 which I actually prefer over regular holos. The new design is so clean.

Hey new subscriber love the video. One question did you check the condition of your hits? I watched somebody else open 2 booster boxes and almost every hit had dings or had print lines and scuffs on the back or cut horribly?
They seemed to be pretty good. I will say the 40 card deck had a different quality than the cards in the boosters, though.
@@st00ben good to know thank you for the update. Maybe the quality control or condition of the hits are bad on only a small amount of the new product. Was gonna say if everyone reported bad quality I would probably sell the booster box I have coming

They're semi-randomized, I believe - I've only opened this one so far, but we'll see what happens. I have 2 more sealed that I want to do a Battle VS my Fiancé, so those could go well!

That depends on the Tournament Organizers and Judges for your venue. They will have energy on hand to provide either way
Vivilion can let you poision the opponent right. So what if before you do the attack, you bench a Radiant Hisuian Sneasler and then attack, would Sneasler's ability activate and add extra poision dmg ?
So, in this format of Build & Battle, you can only use 40 cards from your kit, no outside cards. But in a constructed format like Standard, I could see it being cheeky.

New to the TCG. Iâm considering doing a prerelease tournament with these build and battles because I donât have a competitive deck yet. Would you say they are worthwhile or save my money for a legit deck instead? Thanks for the informative video btw.
So, if you're ballin on a budget... this could seem to be a waste of money. HOWEVER, this could give you a solid idea of what the structure of a Pokémon Tournament is like at a local level, get you involved in the community and you get new cool cards 2 weeks before it releases.

Too bad that Hawlucha seems like it's probably useless :c I think Revavroom is probably the strongest promo with it's excellent draw power, followed by Quaquaval, and Pawmot, though Pawmot's ability to charge itself while Vivillon spams paralysis might prove exceptionally powerful in the limited format
From looking at JP results, Hawlucha is a one of in a few Lost Zone Box style decks, but that's about all I've seen.
@@st00ben I meant just within the context of a Prerelease tournament, but yeah, I can maybe see Quaquaval and Revavroom see standard play, though I mostly play Expanded, where Revavroom will be totally cracked, drawing to 6 instead of 5 is huge, and being able to feed energy into your discard is also crucial for some engines, very excited to see it in Expanded!

Iâve never been to a prerelease event, and am really confused- can you only go to one if you know how to play? Thereâs no explanation on the website. I donât wanna have to pay the $50 to get in just to not be able to get anything out of it. Iâm just a collector for the most part- I can play the actual games competitively, but have never learned the tcg, since it seems so different- I do want to learn to play, but I doubt I can do it by the 20th- only two days left.
Well, if they're charging you 50 dollars... that's not right. Entry should range between 25-32 dollars. It's recommended that you know how to play, but most stores will have Pokémon Professors on staff to help everyone out. Prerelease events are definitely beginner friendly, but I'd contact your local store & ask them if they're able to help new players during the event and such.

Everything in your Build & Battle box, the Deck and Packs are fair game to be used in your deck for the event, regardless of how many copies you pull.
Why are 5 bug Basic pokemon ? I think it must be max 4
As mentioned in the video, prerelease format doesn't apply to the rule of 4. So if you pull over 4 of a card, you may use it in your deck.

Think of it like a scoop up net, I don't think I'd slot it into many standard format decks, but it's great for prerelease format

Yeah, but this picks up something stuck in the active I don't want there. For example, if I start the Lechonk or Fidough, it's a pivot instead of having to use my one manual energy attachment for a retreat and gives me the opportunity to attack with something else. It's prerelease & doesn't have to be super optimized anyway.
also why are you making deck if your supposed to make it while at the store because if u do it at home cant u just trade and buy cards to make a broke pre release deck
