I’m with a lot of people on this, stormtroopers in books and other lore are absolutely terrifying. So many people assume stormtroopers are imperial grunts and fodder, when in reality they were considered elite soldiers capable of terrifying things. Even if you just read the Thrawn (empire) books the stormtroopers in those books actively instill fear in their enemies and generally take very few losses. The real fodder of the empire was navy troopers.
The Stormtroopers are implied to be terrifying and dangerous in the original trilogy, but they just failed to accurately portray them like that for whatever reason.

Anytime a main character is on screen stormtroopers will drop like flies, and be inaccurate as hell, they did the same thing to the CIS Battle droids.

John Wick took down every guy who came at him, but they never failed to give off the impression that they were dangerous people not to be taken lightly. From a narrative perspective, I understand the good guys always getting the upperhand against the badguys, but there are still ways you can make the badguy seem like a serious threat even if they never win against the heroes. You feel me?
@@stewartmullings1552 John wick is a special case, he's an older dude who's given a lot of weight based on everyone's reaction of him coming back and killing guys, from the mafia boss's villain like intro of wick to the fact that the antagonists constantly run from wick, even the final dude only started talking smack when he realized he wasn't going to fight him then and there. Wick is given weight, in star wars the only character that has that weight is vader, palaptine, or thrawn. everyone else is rather young and for most stories are only introduced and used in that one story, so they don't even get legacy weight.
john wick had insane skill and was portrayed as someone who was worth a hundred elite assassins. while say characters like ezra, ashoka, hell even luke in the OT doesn't have that sense of worth. Mando has some degree of that worth and we are shown it, but we are also show that the troopers can't aim unless it mando and his invincible armor.
Contrasted to wick when everyone has the magic suits and everyone we see uses them to maximum effect (doing a lot of what wick does), it's clear that wick was simply quicker or more skilled. His enemies land hits. Where as in mando trooper accuracy varies wildly depending on what they're shooting at, like they can beam mando while in a hallway or canteen, but not hit boba when he's walking around in the open.
the compare and contrast example I have in mind is wick's 2nd movie catacomb fight and the cantina stand-off in mando s1, there's other examples but I felt these examplify the issue the most.

You have to remember that the empire gave a lot of people jobs, rebuilt planets, patrolled for pirates, crushed the confederate remnant, and United the galaxy in an era of peace. There will always be corruption in anything, but the empire as a whole was good for the galaxy besides the horrible things committed by some.

We need a starwars game where you actually play as a stormtrooper through , no battlefront fake outs where the characters turn good , just a gritty dark story about the horrors of war in the starwars universe
And make the storm troopers use actual real life battle tactics like calling in artillery support or using scouts to gather intel, and make it a helldivers2 ripoff

Stormtroopers are always looked down as being horrible soldiers, and get a really bad rap in the movies, but Stormtroopers were legitimately terrifying soldiers. Completely dedicated and very well trained. There's a reason so few Stormtroopers deserted.

Stormtroopers are actually the imperial equivalent of a marine but they also double as a policing force in unstable planets. They aren't Frontline soldiers. The imperial army however, they are your standard conscripts used to conquer planets.

Looks pretty dope actually. You have infinite resources, the chosen one at the head of your army, your emperor is strong enough in the force to alter space and time, and he has a rare intelligence that actually makes him qualified for his position of power. Most of what got him to rise to the imperial dignity was his own merit and not unnatural force powers that he had. It's like if the sith the jedi were searching for all along was Ceasar Augustus himself. I can't imagine that unemployment is an issue either with all of the empire's massive projects.

In my opinion, Star Wars failed to walk the thin line between ‘badass’ and ‘beatable’ for the empire. Darth Vader and fringe cases aside, when every single engagement between the empire and the rebels/alliance/whatever their called now is ‘12 farmers destroy a emp capital ship with 1 loss’, it invalidates both the villains and the protagonist’s supposed victory.

People usually take the scene where the Millennium Falcon landed in the Death Star and say, “They didn’t hit a single shot, they bad” when in reality they were ordered to let them go.

Here me out, a Star Wars movie/series surrounding a group of stormtroopers during the battles on mimban. Sorta like an “All Quite on the Western Front” kinda of vibe.

Stormtroopers would have good aim if they could see on their helmets, its was really hard to aim with the Stormtrooper helmet.

For some reason, I have this insatiable interest to want more of the relatively normal battle-torn soldiers than the literal space wizards.
Because these are normal people overcoming near impossible odds while the space wizard has plot armor in the lore. (Aka the force)
Because that’s what Stat Wars was _supposed_ to be, ordinary civilians vs a seemingly unstoppable force, but corporate got to caught up in the space wizards that they forgot why people loved Star Wars to begin with. Why do you think the sequels and the prequels failed? Bad writing yeah, annoying characters, absolutely ( fuck you Rey ) but not just that, it’s because it drifted away from what people loved from the first movie
I also want more Clone Wars. Like, a movie but it’s the Clone Wars. Or a movie based on anything from the KOTOR games.
The movies always makes me forget this. There's a reason the Empire held a grip on the universe for so long, storm troopers were an actual threat, and some were real badasses. sadly we will probably never see this in the movies.
And also the empire put things in order and brought peace, albeit with punitive operations against terrorists.
The Empire lasted 25 to 30 years at most. That's significantly less than the Republic.

I would call it "Stormtrooper's Paradox". Canonically they were a huge threat and off-screen stomped rebels almost on every occasion (heck, rebels were on Hoth because they were pushed so hard back that they got trapped on a desolate ball of ice). If not for Luke, Han and other main characters, Empire would crush the Rebellion in no time. There were great commanders and admirals on Rebels' side (like Akbar for example) but overall they lost more battles than they won and had far inferior equipment and supply. Films, however, made it look like they couldn't even land a single shot into the stationary target and died from a single shot, meanwhile lorewise they had sort-of auto-aim system in their helmets which also, mind you, were considered to be a great armor specifically against blaster fire.
So, yeah, Original Trilogy is 100% Jedi propaganda
