      You are used to use oils with a higher amount of oleic or lenoleic acid depending on whether your skin is dry or oily. So search for the respective oils but also check if they're comodogenic or not with a Google search. For oily skin, rosehip oil is great, for dry skin olive oil can work. Do a patch test though.

      @anisrazlan1837 Not sure about others, but I've had really good results with DHC's Deep Cleansing Oil...it has only a few ingredients, rinses off easily with warm water, and is fairly affordable (IMO). It's pretty widely available, too: if you're in the US, Target now carries it...

    • @ScientificallyStupid
      @ScientificallyStupid Před 4 měsíci

      @@anisrazlan1837 I have used DHC but I thought it was too drying after a while and it seemed more pricey than I want to pay for something I'm just washing off my face. I've been using Kose Softymo Deep cleansing oil for about two years now and I love it because it works really well (I can feel those sebaceous filaments getting dislodged) and doesn't irritate my eyes but it's relatively inexpensive and you can buy refills of it so you don't have to keep buying a brand new pump bottle. The refill is kind of a bag-envelope type thing and it's cheaper than the initial pump.

    Amen to that. I've tried multiple times because I got brainwashed by the 'oil cleansing craze' and it actually gave me breakouts instead of helping. I was getting irritated skin on top of that and my dumbass still tried again because I thought I was doing it wrong those times I broke out 😅

    • @melissajay3218
      @melissajay3218 Před 3 měsíci

      @memoonasaeed4408 That sucks man, I've been there and I feel your pain. There are just some things that work on most sensitive people, but not all. I'm just gonna put down what I use as a suggestion, but I STRONGLY encourage you to take time to patch test new things you get, and figure out what triggers skin irritation for you because it might be unique to you as an individual. Skin can be that unpredictable from person to person, based on my personal experience/ past fails ..... 😅
      For micellar water, the only one that works for me is the SensiBio version from the brand Bioderma.
      If you're swearing off any micellar water, then my current routine when I forget to use the micellar water, is to go in with PanOxyl 4% benzoyl peroxide cleanser (1 to 2 mins) and then a 2nd cleanse with Simple Micellar Facial gel wash (1 to 2 mins). I find this combo quite effective; for context my skin is sensitive, acne prone, and combination skin type. I recommend the Simple micellar gel cleanser - it's gentle but does a good job cleansing. And if it isn't enough you can go in with a 2nd cleansing gel like me. Generally, you can pair 2 cleansers that work for you to try this out, and most important about cleansing is how long you do it & how gentle you are when massaging it over your face. Doing it for 30 secs or less doesn't fully cleanse things from your face, nowadays I do 1 to 2mins to make sure the cleanser has enough contact time on my face to do its job. Also, how gentle your hands are when massaging the cleanser will help lessen the irritation, rubbing will lead to irritation, two tips that I found to help me be gentler in cleansing is (1) use your fingertips and not your whole hand, and (2) your fingertips should be gliding across the cleanser on your face, you shouldn't be using the same pressure like when you rub in a moisturiser or sunscreen.
      Oops, this unintentionally became an essay. Not sure if this helps, but all the best to you in figuring it out~~ 💪💪

    The key is warm oil cleansing followed by washing your face with extra warm water and regular face wash. The sebaceous filaments don’t dissolve in salicylic acid, and sometimes just face wash and lukewarm water can’t get them out, so extra warm/hot (not scorching hot) water can do the trick, followed by your face wash. Just like greasy dishes are best washed in extra warm water, same with our sebaceous filaments. You’re welcome.

    I am a bit confused. Some people in the comments speak about cleansing with oil (like grape seed oil) and cleansing with cleansing oil when referring to 'oil cleansing '. But I feel like these are two very different things. 🤔 I love cleansing oil for removing makeup because even the most gentle micellar water burns on my eyelids. Cleansing oil washes off easily, though, and I always double cleanse. I remember reading about cleansing with olive? oil and a warm cloth, back in the day, and when i tried that to get rid of my acne, it went horribly wrong. It felt greasy on the skin and broke me out so much more. So I feel like there should always be more information about what someone us referring to when saying 'oil cleansing'

    • @Emmie1

      Yeah people need to specify if they're using an oil cleanser (oil-based cleanser that emulsifies with water) or the oil cleansing method (massaging straight up oils into the skin then washing it off with a warm washcloth). Those are very different methods and the second one tends to break people out the most if they don't use the correct oils for their skin or remove it properly.

      I feel like both of these methods can work, with one not being necessarily better or worse than the other. Maybe people into natural care prefer to use oils instead of oily products. I bought this korean ''black deep cleansing oil'' (forgot the brand name) recently and am not sure if I like it, there seems to be some of it left throughout all of the steps of my skincare, and I don't know if that's good. I consider coconut oil poison for my skin. But oil cleansing is great even on my oily skin. I use jojoba oil or almond oil. They're safe and never caused problems-even when i used them as an occlusive over moisturiser in winter.

    It's because it's an emollient and will being out anything already on its way.
    You should NEVER use coconut oil at all! It is absolutely comedogenic and causes breakouts!!! 😊😊

  • @ScientificallyStupid
    @ScientificallyStupid Před 4 měsíci

    I use an oil cleanser (Kose Softymo Deep) and a creamy cleanser after that. I've tried micellar water and I feel like I had to do too much rubbing and swiping with it. The same goes for balm-style cleansers (except for OG Banila Clean It! Zero, the new formulation wasn't as good to my skin)- lots of rubbing and pulling.

  • @averykitsch
    @averykitsch Před 4 měsíci

    Oil cleansing is great for getting off makeup... but still wash the oil off!
    Coconut oil is non-comedogenic.. on its own but if you're washing with it it's probably not getting everything off your face. And we also have to keep in mind that all skins are different and interact differently with everything. So use with caution.

    Micellar water irritates my skin so I have to oil cleanse to remove makeup and sunscreen. But I've stopped buying skincare from the US, now I only use asian products. As of lately I've been loving the Elizavecca olive oil cleanser sometimes followed by VT cosmetics cica cleanser. I love how rich the oil is and how fresh my face feels after the cica cleanser.

  • @freegadflyathome

    How do you get makeup and sunscreen off? I normally only use tinted sunscreen on my face and it takes a ton of miscellar water and rubbing to get that off and forget about eye makeup. I've always had this problem with just cleansers and getting makeup/sunscreen off. When i was younger, i would have to wash my face multiple times and basically scrub. I feel like oil cleansers get everything off including dead skin cells, then use a regular cleaner. It has never broken me out, but i still have subacious filaments and hope that's not contributing to it.

    Everything I've ever tried has made me break out and I hate it. I tried a sulfur cleanser for the first time recently to treat both acne and rosascea. Tried it a few times, waited a few weeks and tried again... it made my existing breakouts and redness worse. Found out my grandfather had an allergy to sulfur that I may have inherited. Do zinc cleansers work? I'm at the end of my rope.

    Sulfur cleansing irritates my eyes after I THOROUGHLY rinse my face then dry. Somehow sulfur stays behind making my eyes red and watery. Salicylic Acid works every time and without the irritation.

    I avoid coconut oil cleansers but enjoy the balm type and then follow with a water based cleanser. I consider my skin very sensitive. I’ve been in other skincare and beauty forums and my biggest takeaway is YMMV: you mileage may vary. What works for one person may not work for another and it’s important to recognize that some ingredients will benefit some people and just not work for others and that doesn’t necessarily mean a product is bad, it’s just not for YOU.
