    I knew Dave personally. Notice Dave’s loose shoe setup. Easy to kick out. That Iranian was lucky Dave didn’t get a full on front headlock on him.

      What's a loose shoe set up?

    • @jonathankreusch9326
      @jonathankreusch9326 Před rokem

      He’d wear his shoes loosely tied so he could kick out and leave his opponent holding his shoe.

    The little detail about his trail leg to avoid the cradle is really interesting.
    I was watching single leg cradle defense videos looking for what a cradle from there would look like and it seems there are multiple ways. Kolat had a video where he stepped around the guy, while David Taylor was giving a seminar in which he went right to the cradle :
    czcams.com/video/AN4Ve6ZE54g/video.html
    To which were you referring or was it just a general observation.
    I’m looking for a channel that shows the signature moves of wrestlers like John Smith, Sanderson, Gable and internationally guys like buvaisar saitiev, Sadulaev etc.

      The main key is keeping distance between your head and knee. A lot of newer wrestlers will step a leg up closer to their head because they feel it will allow them to use more strength to lift the opponent. By pivoting is foot while it was away, he put it in a powerful position without sacrificing his defense. I’m definitely planning on visiting lots of the techniques of the former great wrestlers in the future! Thanks for the support!

    Good analysis. But I wonder, did Dave get his famous front headlock from the famous Uzbek Arsen Fadziov ?

  • @barrybadrinath2453
    @barrybadrinath2453 Před 3 lety

    I noticed that Dave never over lifted his opponent’s leg when he had it trapped always either at his hip or a little over his hip in height, was that down so that he could go for the waist quicker?

      @@martialbreakdowns for me to I just feel as we lost a great man a great person and family man and it's just so hard to watch him and wonting to just go threw the video and tell him to get out but I believe the way he carred his self and the way he treated his brother's I seen right then and there he would have been a great leader as the U.S coach it is such a shame he lost his life in that way I just believe that anyone that loves this sport to watch him and learn from the best

    "The Iranian" is Behrouz Yari. Would be nice to hear his name mentioned even once in the breakdown. This video sounds racist AF. LoL.

    • @martialbreakdowns
      @martialbreakdowns  Před 3 lety +12

      Racist? First, “Iranian” is not a race, it’s a nationality. Second, even if it was, I don’t think it’s racist to refer to a competitor whose name you don’t know by the country they’re representing (and at the highest level of athletic competition at that). Third, the video these clips were used from was titled “Dave Schultz (USA) vs (Iran)” with no name mentioned.

    • @kaypie3112
      @kaypie3112 Před 3 lety +14

      QUIT using the word “racist” every time you find something you object to.
      You people are dumbing the terms “racism” and “racist” down so badly that they have no meaning any more.
      Just STOP.

    • @kaypie3112
      @kaypie3112 Před 3 lety +12

      And one more thing.
      We wrestling fans come to videos like this to learn more about the art and the sport- NOT to subject ourselves to political B.S.
      Have a great day.
