- I watched a few video's on this subject as my Ridgelines' swing gate would not function after 13 years...My solution was an easier fix for me than any other video I watched.
All I needed was a short 10mm flanged hex head and nut with 2 lock washers. It keeps the adjustment perfectly and permanently. - Hudba
This happened to me today..Amazing fix man!!!!
happy new year!
I watch many who showed how to install a new tailgate handle. They left off a very critical, and crucial part, the 2 ten mm bolts to make it open that wasn’t in the Honda’s kit, worked. Thank you so much. I did every stem and my tailgate wouldn’t open. Your video solved it. It was the main ingredient like baking soda. I had even taken my vehicle to a shop that specializes in Audi and Honda. They had my truck for 5 days, and couldn’t figure it out. Honda service department tried to say it must have been a damaged rod and I got quoted $563 to fix my tailgate handle. Again thank you. You were very thorough
very good so happy it helped, I find others who help me solve issues like this, so that is why I posted my quick fix, , to give back.
.they are great trucks.
Thank you for the tremendous help with a simple smart fix.
I have a 2017 Gen 2 and a modification to your fix worked for mine too. For Gen 2 models, put the bolt on the other side of the white plastic piece.
I appreciate this video sir. My 2018 fell out of warranty 2 months ago, the handle stopped working last night, big long term camping (boondocking) trip in 3 days.If the monsoons hold off I'll go out this afternoon and see what is going on, love ya for this one, hahaha.
boondocking is the best!
Thank you for sharing, not only are you a musician but also a mechanic, if I need help with my Schwinn Trike, I will reach out....just kidding, my friend
Just fixed my dads truck. Thank you!

Much gratitude for such a simple fix!
Well Done. I'm about to rip my 2017 Ridgeline tailgate open today. Thank you!
how did it go?
@@gilbzmusic7186 I ended up having to bend the long rod that went to the driverlatch
@@richardsalisbury3792 way to go!
ty for this video...doing mine tomorrow!
Good job
Thanks dude, working great 👍😎
nice!
good thinking
I may have to try this. Mine worked fine for 10 years - broke - took to dealership $240 - worked for 2 years and now broke again. $240 every 10 years isn’t so bad but after 2?!?!?!? Got me mad.
It was mostly labor costs I bet. There is so much going on in there. Fiddling around to find the wear item was the challenge. Keeping mine from moving out of range was the bolt I installed.
hope it helps.
I was just quoted almost $800 for the dealership to fix it 🤯
