+erblecde I dunno why but I laughed out loud!
I did too!!
Haha I found this hilarious too, then checked the comments immediately to see if anyone else did :D
"Ok guys, I'm upside down, ok?"

I've hit this sweep 2 times now in the past 2 classes while sparring. Love this sweep!!!!!!
i have been to one of his seminars great guy he really helped with this position and answered a lot of my questions about it. If you have questions about this position or anything go to one of his seminars and ask him he is VERY helpful!!
This video is EPIC.. I love BJJ and it still amazes me that there are SOOO many different possibilities from every position.. Transitions are endless! Great video!!
I have been starting to play this stuff slowly and it seems to be really useful. Excellent tips. Certainly something to go into the arsenal.
Love this guy's passion
that transition to triangle was doooooopppe
That triangle was one of the most amazing things I've ever seen :D
Im impressed by how many details I remembered. Cyborg`s gotta be a good teacher
This is pure grappling sweetness in video form.
i want this dvd so badly!
Excellent instruction...excellent technique!!!!
Ok guy's that comment negatively using "street fights" as your reason for hating on tornado guard, you look stupid, you don't know what you're talking about and we're all laughing at you...sorry it's true! Yes it works no gi, slightly different grip, and I'd love to use this in MMA and prove that other dude wrong, yes it could be utilised in MMA obviously don't hang around waiting for GnP! Cyborg is awesome! :)
holy shit. i need this dvd
im gonna try it !! love the triangle!!
Great! Creativity comes with years of training! Great!
Love it. The concept of taking what your opponent gives you is central to all of BJJ imho.
very awesome technique ! thanks alot !
"Look, look, all his weight on my leg. I can stop, take a picture, come back. Look." Lmao Cyborgs a legend
Estas tecnicas de volteo son geniales, se las recomiendo. Es una sorpresa para el oponente en newasa de Judo y Jiujitsu encontrarse con las tecnicas de este monstruo de newasa.
gracias "Cybor" por tus tecnicas.
Freaking awesome! Top level technique.
people please activate subtitles. It's hilarous!! :D
Boa moleque!!! Excelentes movimentos! Já sofri muito nessa guarda!

"But! In the other hand! Look his arm here, that's mine. Ok? Look his arm here. Look. Look his arm here. Look. His arm is mine."
that is all kinds of bad ass
Wow this looks fucking AWESOME
Bad ass!
muito show
@HardGainers...: I understand that Cyborg didnt say that he invented it, but thats exactly why he should give credit to Roleta, the inventor of the move, by calling it by its original name.
Exatcly! The original technique name is Helicopter. Roberto Roleta created that sweep and did it taking the back on Wallid Ismail on the first world tournament semi finals in 1996. That is the true.
OK guys, I'm upside down.
I like it
"i throw him look, look i stop can take a picture" hahahaha
Look!
god that's beautiful.
Thats nice stuff, i wish i could do any of it :(
Man this is some wicked shit!
@getthetapjj i did that with Telles' turtle guard dvd and my turtle got much, much better after that no lie. Another way to remember it is to put the DVD with segment you want to remember in. Push play and actually go to sleep. Make sure your volume is up of course. It puts the information in your subconious(sp) making it impossible to forget.
did he create this gaurd? if so its awesome and I will make my own techniques sometime soon!
YA!!! MARTIAL ARTS IS AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@viator22 correct and well-said
The main key is actually having a good flexibility so you can move arround quickly 7:22 , otherwise your opponent will just put his wheight on you and go to sidecontrol. OSS BRASIL!!
Good
workin on this
It took me a bit to get this. If you practice against a wall walking the wall back to inverted and back again you get used to the transistion and the head movement..The trick is to keep your hips close to the wall at all times. Doing it with a partner is more difficult but if you put the knee that isnt keeping half guard in the other guys diaphram & pull on his gi you can bow and arrow him for a second and then he will let you go inverted or do what ever takes that freaking knee out of his gut.
This is really interesting! Can you do Tornado Guard with no pant gi?
I've been trying this one recently. I can get it training, but I still need to work on it before I can use it for real...
Neat technique.
I'm looking already.
This s so fucking sick
@chemykl More of an inverted half guard. Hall plays inverted with more space, almost like a spider guard.
@McWi11ams Did you not watch the worlds this year? He landed this sweep in the black belt absolute division.
yes he uses it nogi
this is very advanced movements....good thing im advanced....:-P
good stuff
"I can stop, take a picture here, come back.."
@grimacewit It's like the game with the ball in the cup where they mix them around.
@rohleks look for cyborg doing the tornado guard at the honolulu open 2011
i pulled this off in training the other day
@BirdsEyeV1ew
I never said it was exclusive. There are many cross over techniques that work well for both sport and street. As a police officer I can’t be rolling around trying to score a submission on a perp. I study martial arts for tools that ensure my survival. I don’t study it for adolescent chest beating. Of course I see this technique and I catalog it in my brain, but I don’t practice it because I don't want to develop bad habits.
VERYYY POSITION **-**
We have a black belt at Gracie Barra Seattle who has been killing guys with this sweep. Tons of leverage.
damn he good
he is thinking monster
Would the third example work? You might need to sit up a bit to get a grip though. I'm fairly inexperienced but the third example seems like it would work.
Want to learn this so bad...;~;
thats fuckin sickkkk
yup yup
Watch out for the tea bag!
How much stress does this put on the lower back? Seems it would be tough to pull off if u have lower back problems? Curious
look his arm here, look, look his arm here, look, look hahahah
@kkarnis369 exactly.
Around 4:06 the guy in white looks like he's saying "help me" with that expression.
jre hehe
i wanna see it done in sparring or fight any examples on youtube people?
@Mexico041 isn't the solution then going to triangle? Do you have the dvd?
@luckydawg4life he didnt say he invented it he said he started using the sweep as a blue belt.
new Jifferent plan of attack.
Roleta was using this years ago? ryan hall uses it, so do the mendes brothers think they all call it the inverted guard?
holy shit! 7:04
'You know? ' jk I love tornado guard just wish I got it to work.
this move is perfectly doable with no gi. Any move you fail you are in danger of getting smashed in mma. certainly a risky move to do, but if executed well enough you might take a few licks at most.
So should we start naming the triangle choke after it's creator?
"Ok. Lets get upside down now. ohhhh Ok guys im Upside down."
"okay guys, I'm upside-down, okay?"
Badass guard. I'm curious to see it's effectiveness in MMA.
MrJeezus if it works in jiu jitsu it works in mma on the ground- guys wind up in half guard all the time
Badass
RandyNewmanFan How so? Isn't it necessary for the opponent to wear a gi for this to work? I was just looking this up after hearing about it. Does this work without a gi aswell?
+wasweesich may work by the chance, but i think if you dont hold the bottom of the opponents pants, you're not tight...
Yeah, I think so, too...
where i can see the entire video?
