    I'm about to start mine and i'm glad to see you did an update. I was glad to see the inside of the firewall painted. I would'nt have done that and it would've stuck out. Good tip! Thanks!

    Thanks for the update and the explanation of engine colors. I know this is a basic kit, but it's nice to here you say that you still like it and I'm sure you will make it a beautiful build as always.

      Thanks! I enjoy kits like this too, while I do enjoy building high detail kits with lots of parts, they can burn you out with all the tedious work. This is one of the reasons I bounce around so much on my builds. Some easy ones, a restoration here and there, a build with custom resin or 3D parts, and an occasional high parts count build.

    Nice work so far. The color is definitely an odd one, but that is how Chrysler rolled back then. The attention to detail you have begun is great. Thanks for sharing.

      Chrysler/Dodge/Plymouth and AMC seemed to have a friendly competition going in the way of odd but interesting colors. 😊

    After April of 71 all 340’s were painted blue. This was because the engines were built in Canada at first then production was moved to the US and they decided to paint them blue. So you could get a orange or blue 340 depending on the build date.

    Looking good. Scalefinishes is my go to paint for cars and trucks. That was a weird green/yellow color. The thing about the old Chrysler corporation is that nothing was set in stone. Cars escaped the factory with options and colors that baffle restorers. For an mpc it's a well engineered kit albeit with the usual mpc quirks

    Great catch on not using the 70 wing. Will definitely look correct with the 71 style. Don’t know if anyone noticed but that kit has the door handles and locks lower than the real car. The side stripe will cover the door locks. I realized too late when I built my FC7 purple Demon. 😮

    That’s coming along great can’t wait to see it finished. In my youth late 80’s I had a 71 340 demon, it was blue with a black vinyl roof, it had the wide stripes on the hood with the 340 scoops, the hood was flat black with a thin stripe of body color down the middle. It did not have the side stripes on the sides. When I purchased it it had a 440 4bbl with a 727 trans, a ratchet shifter and a 8-3/4 sure grip rear with 389 gearing. It was a fun car. To fit the engine they had to cut out the fender wells and install fender well headers. The openings also allowed you to get to the rear plugs.

    • @TheMuscleCarModeler
      @TheMuscleCarModeler  Před měsícem

      Thank you! Even in my 71 Fury wagon, the #7 plug, you have to get from underneath the car. I did have the Super Commando manifolds on mine with dual exhaust and also 440. It is closer to the booster and steering collum. Plus, on a C body the exhaust dumps between #5 and #7 just like an A body would. The original 383 with log manifolds was far enough away that it was tight, but you could get #7 from the top. My new combo may be more of a challenge, but we will see. I have a 512 stroker with Trick Flow 240 heads. They have angled plugs and I bought TTI headers and exhaust for it. Motor is mostly built but not finished and nothing is in the car yet. So, I don't really know.

    I'm expecting my second Demon any day now. At one point Amazon jacked the price way up after I got my first kit, but they dropped it back to a reasonable level. I also have another AMT '71 Duster, which I will use it's better detailed chassis and engine, as I recently saw a YT model guy do. I've already done three Dusters, so I can use one as a sacrificial donor. 😎👍

      Nice, that 71 Duster chassis and engine are great. I lost count on how many I have bought. My logs say I still have 7 in my stash still. I have used that 340 engine in at least 5 builds also.

    Hello Raoul. I just recently found your CZcams channel. I have really been enjoying watching your videos! I have recently become re-interested in scale car modeling likely due to purchasing my 2024 Mustang Dark Horse. I've owned four, now five Mustangs, two 1969 models, and two 1970 models. My Dark Horse is Grabber Blue. The best color God ever created! HAHA! I have really enjoyed your channel over everyone else. Your calm friendly demeanor and always positive outlook on things always makes me want to watch a new video that you produce. So - Thank You! My Wife Andrea calls it my Hobby Wheel. After my Mustang purchase, my Hobby Wheel has turned again toward scale car modeling. When I get into a new hobby, its with both feet and everything else takes a back seat! That said - the focus has been Mustang. I know this is not related to the 71 Dodge Demon, which because of you is on the way in the post! I know you have built several Mustangs, including a 1969 Boss 429... Great video by the way... Some time soon - would you do a build of the 1970 Boss 429 in Grabber Blue or any correct period color you like, based on the early Monogram 2282 kit? If you need a kit - I can send you a NOS sealed version I purchased off Ebay. It's a fantastic model! I think I have five or six! Haha! Also - check out Automotive Touch-up paints for factory colors. They are fantastic to work with. Keep up the great work Brother! Absolutely love the channel!! Have a GREAT weekend! Take care. Denis McCarthy - Leeds, Alabama

      Welcome to the hobby Denis! No need to send me any 1970 Mustangs. I have two Boss 429’s, one 1970 Boss 302 only, and two of the 1970 Mach1 / Boss 302. Funny part is the 70 Boss 429 is already built. I just have not featured it yet for whatever reason. I built one long ago, and either rebuilt it or replaced it. That I don’t remember but may come to me when I clean it up and feature it. BTW, it is Grabber Blue with a white interior!
      I want to build another one in Grabber Orange or Grabber Green.

    In the 80's when I bought one of the 1969 Ford "Fairlane" Cobras I have now, it really looked yellow to me (original paint). Everybody else thought it was yellow, too. However, the paint code was "2", which is called New Lime. Kinda cornfusing. But, comparing it to my Bright Yellow '69 Ranchero 500, you can in fact see a little green toner in it. Maybe similar to Ford muting down the popular Wimbledon White with a little, I don't know, tan? I read an article years ago stating that each of the Big Three had a different small amount of colored toner in their supposedly jet black paint. So, to be correct in a resto, you had to specify the exact maker at the paint supply store. Ford Raven Black has a smidge of blue, as I recall. Keep up the good work.

      Very cool. I know that non of the actual white are truly white. My S10 is Sumit White and is a bit of a Blue-White. The Chevelle was originally a tan-white. It is interesting what colors are mixed to make a color. I knew a guy that Professionally painted cars and he painted his Camaro with just red toner only! It was a bit of an orange red and what we think is true bright red has some black and blue in it!

    I always see people paint the chassis black. so I assumed to do the same. didn't realize it was painted body color.

    • @TheMuscleCarModeler
      @TheMuscleCarModeler  Před měsícem

      What I'm doing is also not truly correct and it really depends on the car. I like the over restored look where they paint every inch of the body, body color. Most unibody cars are just covered in primer, grey/red, depends on the car. When painted there is body color overspray on the underside. Some more than others. Some visible areas like the wheelhouses are usually blacked out or undercoated. Many cars are also undercoated to prevent rust, factories did this and so did dealers. This stuff appears black but can be a dark brown. Not to mention as cars are driven, grease, fluid leaks and grime can build up under the car and black it out as well.

    I've seen late build 71 Cudas with blue 383 engines

    • @TheMuscleCarModeler
      @TheMuscleCarModeler  Před měsícem

      The 383 L code 2V was painted blue and available in a 71 Barracuda. Very rare but not available in a 71 Cuda, The Cuda being the performance model would have come with an orange 383 4V Magnum, but with Mopar there are anomalies but documentation is key. Like the never made but 440+6 72 cars, three are known! www.californiaclassix.com/garage/c1232.html check out this 71 Barracuda.

      @@TheMuscleCarModeler Yes thats a Grand Coupe, I've attended the Mopar Nationals many times since the 90's and remember a white 71 Cuda convertible with black interior but orange seats. The owner was a Chrysler Plymouth dealer and said spring of 1971 a regional manager called him to accept a couple of convertibles that were built but not ordered, they made a deal and he got the Cuda, he never sold it but used it in the showroom and town parades. He figured the factory was trying to use up parts that wouldn't be used in 1972-hence the weird interior. I can assure you it was a 4bbl 383 painted blue.

      Thanks. I was researching it and was only finding pics of console automatics. Did find a 4speed demon with console and pistol grip shifter. Owner admits that it was modified. Parts catalogue has a listing for 4 speed console supposedly but none are known to have been built. Found a nice thread on for A bodies only about it. I actually mention this in my next update video that will launch Saturday.
