  • Here are a couple details about the Cobra Clutch that actually make it a viable submission, rather than just a WWE style finishing move. This is another clip from the recent longer Gift Wrap video available on my channel now.

    Thank you! This is such an improvement to the way I learned it(the way you first showed it). The Gift Wrap submissions video that this came from is excellent too!

    Nice technique, I have done this multiple times but never worked. So this is the right way to do it.

    If you slide your right palm from your opponent’s left wrist up to his left tricep where your right forearm goes directly on his right carotid artery to do the Cobra Clutch like Eli Knight says in this video here, it makes the submission move much tighter. This should be the easiest way to get a clean choke every time, even in MMA and UFC with gloves on.

    I’ve never seen this but use this grip to take the back.. so I’ll throw the choke in next time!!!! OSS - brilliant!

    When I let go with my right hand they are moving the elbow away from me….so still having a hard time getting to his tricep. Thoughts ? Thx !

    • @KnightJiuJitsu
      @KnightJiuJitsu  Před 2 lety +1

      Generally the chest pressure keeps the elbow down and close enough for me to reach for this finish.

      in the demo here he leans back to get the choke arm depth. i like to lean forward into it with my shoulder in order to wedge it in place before i release the grip from wrist. it makes the gift wrap tighter and therefor easier to reach the triceps. then its a squeeze. ive had partners say its a neck crank. apply it slow once the lock is in.
