I think the best antweight robot armor might just be empty space + hard-to-catch surfaces. I myself was surprised by the performance, but I guess it being a fairly crude, not tightly integrated design actually helped... it didn't need to be assemble with any sort of precision to keep working. I am going to try to keep what worked for the heavyweight (big clearances, simple drive setup, difficult-to-catch side profile design) while fixing what sucked (the weapon stupidly catching the ground, the lack of a robust fork for facing wedges, and the "filling side down" position)
@@CarterHurd Dude I can't wait to see a heavyweight version of this. I just started really getting into combat robotics and I'm entering my first competition with an extremely ambitious design, my plan is to see what works and how long it takes to get obliterated and move those improvements to a much better bot in the future. Maybe Taco Tuesday 2 can fight my robot in Bot Brawl August 2023 in Canada?
@@CarterHurd This is why I love your channel. Going from "let's make a small taco bot" to "nice it seems to kind of work, now let's make a 250lb version!" is just sheer perfection.
imagine you have an incredibly refined robot and it looses to a mutated taco that looks like it is held together by hot glue and hope. you always learn some incredible advantage with a meme robot.
Dang this design works really well. Be sure to include all the fight videos of this thing in your application to Battlebots. I really hope thay it gets accepted and you are able to build it!
We're going to build it - with or without an accepted application! Have the wheels/motors in hand, and have already started welding together a test chassis to prove out the drive setup... Going to be super fun, regardless of if it gets on the show or not. I've finally got access the necessary resources: CNC, waterjet, a talented welder, etc.
yup. Future Killer tried the idea of one 90deg wheel in the rear to pull the bot around, but didn't fully commit to the idea because it still had two front wheels. Future Killer's concept was "it doesn't matter how it lands it will still drive," and this concept is "it doesn't matter how it lands it will still self right." Same thinking went into both, but this was simpler, and simpler is better
I do have a few combat bot videos from yours I need to binge left, but having this new video out and knowing that you're still doing it is nice. Also, I love that absolutely humiliation you did to Spinook at 6:05, spinning around in front of him like that, stay toxic Mr. Hurd
Im thinking of designing a krave monster like weapon with this type of drive train. if both the crave monster and taco bot got on the podium, this should take first place no doubt. edit: did not work as planned
Our boys loved your design. But none of us thought you’d make it as far as you did! So cool that such an original design got #3. Congratulations!!
Ayo a 250 pound taco? I really wished we got a 250 pound krave monster but taco should be more fun
Durability of the taco... it... it astounds me this bot won't die
"Tacos never die" sounds like a cool name for V2 maybe??
A "dumb idea" is only dumb if it doesn't work.
I was really excited to see this bot fight, and wow it delivered! It just doesn't die!

Taco Tuesday... on a Sunday! 🌮
Congrats on placing with such a unique design!
Super excited to see where the taco goes from here! Congrats on a unique and competitive design.
Check our my latest short to see the 250lb version! It’s going to be hilarious

@@CarterHurd That is great to hear! I hope you provide build updates, I'm pretty sure people would love to see progress on the BIG taco build.
Any name ideas yet for the big taco? Also, do you plan on taking it to The Proving Grounds at the Battlebots Live events?
@@404RBTCS Aiming for proving grounds, yeah.
If you make taco Tuesday into a battlebot you should call it taco doomsday
Grats on the placement and not to discredit the taco at all, but holy SHIT that last match was nuts lol.
the 3lb class has gotten ridiculous
Give them ... salad mix!
Loved watching it in person, thanks for the recap!
Dropping your taco upside down is the worst...
Let the coming year be the Era of FOOD BOTS
Ripperoni and your Taco Bot are my favourites
Congrats on building the spiritual successor to Krave!
that was awesome!
I was laughing SO hard watching that last fight. The taco was so completely mangled but it just kept going!! Awesome.
And I thought Future Killer was ambitious.

That taco bot is so flipping neat. I wonder if retired battle bots are given a 2nd life as autonomous drone or whatever. Hmmm

Thanks. I took a break for a while, because I had no new ideas and I wasn't going to do Krave for the 15th time in a row. Happy to be back into it.
@@CarterHurd The Taco did surprisingly well here, do you plan to stick with him or design a new bot next time around, whenever that is
@@rRhyan I'm going to focus on scaling the Taco up to 250lbs
@@CarterHurd 250, thats heavier than me, I like it, I look forward to it
6:14 😂
This looks amusing! I'm in Westminster. Didnt know this was here in CO.
😁👍
It'd be wishful thinking for me to hope you're going to Robotica in Huston in like 2 weeks.
6:43 - "Good as new"
you should completely redesign The krave and make it a vert or grabber so basically a swiss army bot.
Yummy!!! 😂
Put a Tortilla under that Taco. That way after the battle, you have another Taco from what fell out..
Dude you invented the the anti vert robot
Jankbots - 3, Spinook, 1. Time for another rebuild
you could round the top of the taco and it would auto roll over :3 the next robot the burrito
Its so stupid that it worked
That thing was so beaten up that it looked like a junk bot lol
14:31 Let it Rip!!
It takes a beating and keeps on tacoing.

edit: did not work as planned
Where some would watch football, I would happily watch these videos instead.
Shame I couldn't go. Oh well, maybe there's somewhere else you'll complete? Or if not, there's always next year.
Will have to be next year, focusing on the 250lb version next.
