Looking back using this chart, I hadn’t realized there were so many other years with similar lack of ice as this year.
Also found it interesting how went from almost zero ice to full ice next year.
      Great video Jon.
Appreciate the effort you put in to provide us with these amazing “breaks” from our everyday stuff.

Thank you for posting this!! I live in the Lower Peninsula of Michigan only about 15 miles from Lake Michigan. Looking back at the fluctuation in this historical data I can't help but wonder if we're in for some major ice formation on the Great Lakes in the coming years.

Lichens never cease to amaze me. They’re such beautiful organisms but we seldom notice them unless we stop and do it consciously. They survive year-round in places like the exposed rock of that campsite just as they have for eons, and will continue thrive there long after we’re gone. I’m so appreciative that you take the time to pause and film them on your journeys.

    Jon and Erin
Firstly I want to thank you for the outstanding entertainment you offer us all. I look forward to each and every video you post. I don't comment often on videos but truly felt compelled.
I am a professional chef and my sons and best friend and I have a fishing and cooking channel called " From The Tide To Your Table" I end each episode with "practice catch and release or selective harvest". That said, I so appreciate your example of stewardship and respect for our natural resources! Albeit I wish you would eat more fish you are a true example of selective harvest. I know how much respect you give the fish you harvest. That said, rather than dispatching them with a stick I offer a Japanese technique call Ikejime, the most humane and painless way to dispatch a fish yet yielding the highest quality. There are many videos on youtube to learn. I know you will definitely take interest not only in the humanity of the dispatch but the quality it offers in dining quality.
I'd be flattered if you would watch our channel albeit certainly not the cinema quality of yours we are working on it :)
Keep it going, you bring me joy
    Chef Mike

The Banks Fry-Bake pans are hard anodized aluminum. I’ve been using them since the 1970’s. Pam Banks was an instructor at NOLS and those pans were born of necessity. The design of the lids for those pans makes them “dutch ovens” and you can bake amazing things in them.

We live on a lake in upstate New York that used to freeze over completely. By 2018, the maximum ice coverage had dwindled to around 10% and we had toxic algae blooms in the summer for the first time ever. Last winter, a La Nina year (which means colder winters in the Northeast) there was 0% maximum ice coverage for the first time ever. This year of course there's 0% ice again. Toxic algae blooms have happened every year since 2018 and get bigger and more widespread each year because the water keeps getting warmer and warmer.

All of the great lakes were completely frozen over even lake Superior (80 %) this subsequently resulted in the water level to rise over 4 feet.

I watch a lot of these channels with similar content and all the CZcamsrs that live up in the northern states, Canada, and Alaska are all saying the same thing, how mild this winter has been. But us Californians are having the wettest, coldest, and longest winter we've had in a long time 😂. I'm watching these guys from Canada and Alaska camping in -20° and my brain can't even comprehend that cold 🥶. I'm thinking damn that's mild to you guys, I would never make it up there. My hat 🤠 is off to all you artic dwellers!

The human world can be a degenerate and desolate place, but the natural world still delights. Be thankful for your youth and vigor, and as they say, "You go, boy! Kick ass, while you can!" I am sure that you are the envy of many. Putting yourself in the sacred waters of "the big lake they call "Gitche Gumee", how can it get any better? You capture so much beauty in your videos. Thank you. P.S., I believe Winters will eventually come back (I may not be around to see them, but anyway. I think Gaia is much smarter and stronger than us).

The Earth is the result of Science. Human accelerated Climate Change (since the invention of the combustible engine and the Industrial Revolution) is a Science thing. 8 billion humans on Earth is around 3X what is sustainable. 100 years ago there was only 2 billion. Exponential math is Science. Denying the effects of Science has ZERO effect on HA Climate Change. Gaia isn't some omnipotent god that can magically make things better. Science rules.
