I regard the first part (proper prelude) as one of the most thrilling, most intense pieces of music I know. Not that I dislike the rest, but the first minute is... I have no words, sorry. The combination of the impressive bass line and the polyphony built upon it (which reminds me of mountain creeks running) just... shocks me. I suggest that you listen to Walcha's rendition (1978) of this work, if you have the chance. Hope you enjoy it.

That first part is actually insane, and Koopman makes it sound shocking and overwhelming (in a positive way).
