    when the damage from hip drops can be soo bad, we don’t need leniency. the result from can be what Pat Carrigan did to that player awhile back.

    Lachie knew what he'd done immediately after the fact. Was a bad hip drop on an unaware player. I'm a Tiger all Day but 2 weeks was light I thought.

    these youngs guys that did hip drops obviously deserve a penalty but I think NRL needs to look at the rookies and assess the damage done. The other players continued the game and mey be sore today but were not injured. This should be taken into account when assessing suspensions. I agree with Billy that maybe 10 in the bin is sufficient

    Com on Billy the boy doesnt go fromJ Grade to NRL, he probably has close to 10 years of coaching, he went through the Campbelltown Juniors System, yes he is young at 18, maybe the Campbelltown juniors coaches need a hurry up by the club, in all my days of playing, hip drop tackle is something I never did, so it must have been brought to the game by coaches.

    • @-AEDOS-
      @-AEDOS- Před 2 měsíci

      The problem is that the hip drop is a fairly new issue or at least newley adressed. Most players haven't been taught how to anti-hip drop till recently, yes they where taught tackling technique but the hip drop is a completely instinctual action so it takes time to tech players ways to avoid it.

    • @jamesmatheson5115
      @jamesmatheson5115 Před 2 měsíci

      @@-AEDOS- If it was instinctual as you claim, we would have been doing it in the 70's 80's 90's and later, we didnt, so who and which club coaches brought it in, same as the Crush Tackle, another dirty tackle that was coached to the kids, look at the coaches not the players.

    • @-AEDOS-
      @-AEDOS- Před 2 měsíci

      @@jamesmatheson5115 I get your point and there is a main factor that plays in to why you didnt see hip drops earlier in League, the current rule and law changes of the game have made it faster than ever, most players now are forced to make a tackle from behind as they have to catch up to their opponents, I hqve no doubt there may be some grubs who know exactly what their doing but for the most part, like I said it is instinctual, thats why most plauers you see do it are forwards, because they are the most tired in the game and become prone to lazy and unintentional dangerous tackles. I do agree there must be a crack down on it but I also feel the NRL is making the game hard enough for the players as it is, not just at pro but at all levels.

    I admire Billy but definitely don't agree with him on this issue. It's not NRL job to teach these young guns, it's the club responsibility. Made mistake you pay, no exception.

      I dunno they cause confusion when they change and expect results in 1 pre season. Look at the obstruction rule. Robbo taught his bois didn't matter. And last season up till around round 10 the hip drop saga was embarrassing ones a penalty ones a sin bin and others were the wrong calls that nrl admitted . When upstairs is inconsistent then the rest follows

    • @AusHowie
      @AusHowie Před 2 měsíci

      Oh here we go.. the master mind of the nrl has spoken.
      Sometimes unfortunately you’re put in a position where it becomes inevitable that the outcome is not what was planned, there was no malice or intent to do a hip drop - it just so happened that, that was the result of the tackle unfortunately.

    ill-conceived comment from Billy considering the tackle was one of the worst examples of a hip drop. The ball carrier could have received multiple injuries, very fortunate.
