Nigel ....and Mads, thanks for this video. Definitely brightened my day because it brings back memories of when I visited Iceland. Also, just a general thank you! I can appreciate that these videos take a lot of effort :)
Excellent stuff, thank you for sharing those images and the experience Nigel!
What a stunning place Iceland is and one day I will visit this remarkable island.
Just wonderful, I really do need to go back and enjoy the the landscapes and nature here again. Great video again and wow at the Aurora, well done you!!
Magic Nigel, thanks for sharing.
stunning video, the best photographers. I tried for it. Thank! Nigel.
Wow! Stunning images Nigel. Love your vids and informative style
I very fond of the way how you each time tell your "story".
In a "simple" and inspiring way, each video has his straightforward pick ups which can be added to the your golden rule; Subject - Composition - Light - Timing, ... and of course patience:). This astonishing video will be definite in my favorite top 5 of your shared videos. Thanks Nigel.
thank you for the journey each sundays !!!
Fantastic video Nigel. Stunning images you captured. Nice to see Mads on it.
Wow - just wow!
Amazing, that’s on my bucket list.
Stunning video in a truly fantastic country! Thank you for uploading and all the valuable pieces of advice!
Cheers!
Superb vlogg and great advice. Thank you Nigel.
Another great video in this series. Loved the images and the drone footage, what an amazing place.
Fantastic video! What a beautiful location and I love the photos you posted showing the settings. What a huge difference they made!! Your tips are wonderful too. Composition is something I tend to forget when shooting the northern lights.
It's really nice to see you trying something new and different Nigel! And It was great to see your pre-visualisation process for the aurora images.
Absolutely fantastic! So inspirational.....
Great images Nigel, definitely another winner!
These come out at the perfect time for me. Sunday morning with my coffee. The views were amazing! I have to go back to iceland. Ive subbed to Mads channel
Awe inspiring, stunning images and yes you have to stop and smell the roses. Thank you very much indeed.
Thanks greg
Wonderful images from a superb location. Inspirational Nigel!
I love how on Sunday my subox get filled up with videos from my favourite photography youtubers. New videos from you, James Popsys and Thomas Heaton, and usually in that order. I know in the morning there will be Danson video, in the afternoon a Popsys video, and in the early evening a Heaton video. It makes the Sunday so much better.
Great to know! Thanks for the kind words 👍👍👍
Great series, loving your work and Mads👍
Helpful suggestions - thank you both - going back to Iceland later this year!
Thank you for sharing; fabulous images.
Loved your aurora pictures... brilliant shots...
Have been loving the Danish influence. Love how that beach shot with the waves turned out under the northern lights. Thanks for another great episode.
excellent as always Nigel!
Stunning vlog, you are so lucky to go to these places...
Amazing light quality out there. That area looks amazing.
Thanks Nigel .

Wow. Those were great photos.
Great video and plenty of great advise if I ever get to see the Aurora but after watching your Iceland series so far I think I'm going to have to get there

Another great Vlog Nigel,a place id love to visit and photograph 1 day....
Wonderful place Iceland, such a different world to me in Sydney Australia. Thanks for this Ice-Series.
Breathtaking locations and photos! Great job as always, Nigel! I found it so clever in how you added to the composition of the Aurora photos with the headlamp selfie! Actually, you and Mads are my two favorites to follow, so we got both into one!
Thanks Bobby - that is kind of you to say
Spectacular!! Not going to make any Aurora photography any time soon but always good to learn and watch such beautiful images! Your video intros are allways great!! And will check out Mads channel! Thank you!!
P.S.: wrote the comment while warching the video. Now watched it all and loke I said I took something from it to apply to my efforts in photography!! Again thank you!!
Amazing!
Excellent video! Like that you highlight your camera/settings for the images. Also nice to see that others have joined your channel. Been “watching” since your California trip.
Thanks Mike! And for watching since the start 👍👍👍
lovely images
Wow thats an excellent video i like the idea of giving shot settings superb work.
Thanks mike
Opening drone sequence was phenomenal Nigel, like something from Lord of the Rings, stunning aurora images looking forward to seeing you return here one day. great episode thanks for sharing.
Fun to watch the fog advance and wane in the background.
Wow, Nigel! Those Northern Lights images really are awesome! I love the image where the lights are crowning the top of the mountain. The drown videos are fantastic and I appreciate the advice. I hope to get to Iceland one day, but I'm not sure when-it sure is a stunning place for landscape photography. As always, thanks so much!
Hi Nigel. Breathtaking !! The images and drone footage are outstanding - so pleased you got them after your last visit to Iceland. I may never get chance to capture the Northern Lights but the tips here are really helpful and I'll keep them in the memory bank (hopefully!!). Really enjoyed your Iceland videos and the collaboration with Mads. Thanks for sharing Nigel.
Thanks a lot Tim
Great series. To say I'm jealous would be an understatement, the time-lapse and images are fantastic, looks like the fuji came up trumps. :)
Great job!
Jim
Another superb video. Those photographs are perfect. Particularly like the one with the path running through the grass as a leading line up to the Aurora. Composition is proving to be a hurdle for me. But your videos are helping.....I think.😂
Thanks for another great start to a Sunday.
great camera work!!!
and one of my fav song 'ganja'
Wow, a top notch vlogg throughout. I love the selfie , a 'Beam me up Scottie' moment. I always watch Mads' videos too, so between you, him and some others I am sold on the idea to visit Iceland.
Thanks Brenda - appreciate the kind words
Another super video. Particularly like your point about taking time at one location and not trying to snap every view. Also appreciate that you added the exposure, shutter speed and ISO details alongside the images. Very helpful. Good old fuji!
Thanks Claire - appreciate your kind words. Make sure you are signed up for my newsletter as I am sending out more images with settings this month.
Beautiful and a two-for-one bonus.
👊
Nice!
Such a wonderful video! I love Northern lights. It's actually on my bucket list, even though I had the chance to "see" one (through a long exposure on my compact camera, not with naked eye), when I was an Erasmus student in Aberdeen. I got a notification from an aurora forecast website, telling me auroras were visible from Aberdeen. I ran to the beach to avoid as luch light pollution as possible. I couldn't really see it with my own eyes, but my camera captured the green colour of it. It was really far away at the horizon. So now, can't wait to see one right above me!
Very nice!
Super video just wondering did you do a video on the composite from the earlier photo and the later one with the aurora on love your work thanks
Hello Nigel, congratulations for someone who has done little aurora shooting, your's were excellent. And to be with Mads as well, very clever of you...
Yep - he is the grand master
after that video i've just looked at flight's to Iceland as i have a week free shortly. Thankyou very much for your continuted inspiration.
You won’t regret it Tony!!!
sorry to see the series end Nigel as you have shared some incredible images over the last three weeks. Must be hard to be in a place of such beauty and to take it slow.
Totally endorse your comments about Mads, have been a subscriber to his channel for a while and his episode this week of the Northern Lights in Norway was mind blowing.
Your images of them this week only wets my appetite further to get to Iceland in the not too distant future to witness this amazing phenomenon
Many thanks... appreciate your kind words.
Good stuff Nigel. Hope to try and get an Aurora shot this year in Scotland if the weather and nature play ball.
Well done Nigel. Great selfie. lovely images throughout great drone footage ATB. Graeme
Many thanks Graeme
You made a great team. Aurora footage was spectacular.
Thanks - it was fun
Cracking video 👍🏻
Great video but in particular, signing off with that waterfall in the background... Class.
You've not made me want to go to work in the morning!!! Ha
Nice video series Nigel with lovely images. The drone footage is so captivating too.
I hear you regarding staying in one location for an extended period of time, but with only 3 days on the way to Europe I'm afraid I will be playing tourist with a rental car.
Planning paid off then - nice one!
Managed to get all three done today. Glad you shot with xt2 it is good to see what it can do, I use mine and never 100% happy compared to full frame lol. Nice lights images and great video
love your video and I have signed up! I am headed over in June and was hoping you could share the location of the lighthouse and the waterfall. Much thanks for the inspiration!
Really beautiful shots of Aurora, as well as helpful information of how you captured them (with detailed settings)! Thank you so much for amazing Iceland episodes, I really enjoyed them all! I took several (but not enough!) shots of the Southern Lights in New Zealand last year, and they were also very beautiful with pink-ish colors. But, I do wish to see and capture the Green Northern Lights one day. Your video will be big help when I do!
Many thanks....
Amazing shots of the aurora Nigel. You and Mads seemed to have had a ball !
It was fun albeit with no sleep
Great video 😁
I wish there were more Northen lights in south of Norway but they are very rare here. Super video 😆
That was such lovely time in Iceland! We had way too little time! Loved the part "A lot later..." :D
We gotta team up again :)
Mads Peter Iversen is he saying your name right? Lol it’s surly not Mass 😁
Anyway good to see that you were back there shooting the aurora again.
Though you would like that bit Mads 😂 it was amazing wasn’t it!!! Need to sort something out soon!!!
It is...
We also met in Iceland so all good 😂glad you guys had fun. We also shot the aurora over Vestrahorn in 2015 it was spectacular. I’d love to go back there and shoot the aurora again.
It's very close to "mass" ;) I present myself in my first videos from Iceland - here people can hear how I pronounce it!
And yes Nigel! We sure do :)
Great videos Nigel! How do you find an open shutter when there is wind? I had a bad day yesterday shooting on the lake and am wondering if there is something better I can do to get a better focus. Best!
Awesome :)
I often think just spending time learning your location and really scouting out a location is as beneficial as great gear, great light etc. I can tell you that locations that I feel very unfamiliar with make me quite uncomfortable to shoot in nowawadays. You bagged some stunning images of the aurora lights. What a stunning place to be and get to witness such a show. Really enjoyed the series. Cheers.
Thanks Diego - so true
Some wonderful images Nigel. Surely a huge bonus to have Mads along. I visited the British Isles a few years ago in hopes of returning to the States with three images worth framing. Instead I have hundreds of photos documenting the trip and only one that made it to the wall. Your comments will remind me to slow down and do some scouting on my next adventure.
Thanks Brad - great plan and glad you got some good images
Stunning scenery and glorious images Nigel. Enjoyed listen to your planning, thought process and hearing the tips from Mads. The aurora is something I've never had the opportunity to capture, I'd love to do that someday! Hope your drone is ok 😳
Thanks Andrew - yep the drone survived - it took me 1 hr round trip to retrieve it
Great video Nigel, Iceland Photographers paradise?
Yes
Nigel Danson well your images and video certainly portrayed it as one. It's on the list!
The xt2 handled those aurora images very well... I’ve also seen many many images of the aurora and I think yours are right up there!
Many thanks... I was pleased
Love your videos! Is there anything special that needs to be done with the camera/lens in the cold? I'm going to the arctic for work for 6 months and I figured it would be a good opportunity to photograph the aurora while I am up there. Average temp is around -32 C. Recently upgraded my camera (Nikon D7100 to Nikon D850) with 14-24mm f/2.8G Nikkor lens. Other than needing a lot of batteries, is it safe to take my camera out in those temperatures?
REALLY good tips man. I'm totally going to have to try these out. Now to just get to Iceland... or Norway... or shoot anywhere up north!
Thanks David! Good luck....
Great episode Nigel.. hope the drone wasn’t damaged in the tumble at the end ?
Really enjoyed seeing Mads on someone else’s channel .. what a great companion to have on such a trip
Bravo to you both !!
No - it was fine - just some new blades required
Thank You for your help. I've seen too many N. Lights pictures where the lights are so blurry it hurts my eyes to look at them...
Great vlog Nigel with absolutely stunning images of the aurora. Iceland is such a photogenic country wich I love to visit one day. Once I overcome my fear of flying 😁 Nice to see you meet up with Mads. I also follow his vlogs.
Just go. Probably more dangerous crossing the road. Thanks for the kind words
Yep, you're probably right about that 😉
Thank you again. Great video, haven’t tried any northern lights yet. Good to know tho.
Spectacular!!! Does anybody know the name of the song from the end? Very nice song and beautiful edited footage.
Great video, now I really want to go there. Also, what is the music title at the end of the video?
He's not wrong about the weather. I was in Iceland in Feb this year and we had thick cloud and rain for most of our trip. I'll just have to admire your photos instead!
