    I just learned the other day how exactly these flameless ration heaters work: the heater has magnesium, iron and salt in it, and when you add water, the chemicals start to create a massive amount of tiny short-circuits, which creates the heat. So basically you heat the food with electricity!
    So, if the heater doesn't seem to work, adding some salt might jump-start it.

    • @Bobombkaboom
      @Bobombkaboom Před 4 lety +54

      Hot hands are the same thing minus the magnesium. They absorb oxygen to create the chemical reaction. Can also be used as oxygen absorbers for long term food storage in a pinch.

      Because English doesn't have that many suffixes people usually have problems learning Turkish but it is a lot easier if they have similar grammar like Korean, Japanese etc. Google knows Turkish very well due we are using Google and CZcams etc a lot in Turkey so Google AI learned it well i guess :))

      @Bryan It kinda depends though. Turkish cuisine varies a heck ton a lot, I had never seen such variety in cuisine outside of Turkey. Cuisine of Mediterranean coasts tend to be similar to other Mediterranean food but it's usually, more fish/vegetable oriented than like meat etc. Some foods that are so popular among other Mediterraneans like falafel tend to be non-existent. Mediterranean coasts usually pair food with Rakı, a traditional Turkish alcoholic beverage.
      The Black Sea region offers fish just like Mediterranean Region but while Mediterranean coasts usually serve the fish as pickled or semi-raw and combined with other seafoods like octopus, The Black Sea usually fries the fish. It also frequently features butter, tea and hazelnuts! Maybe it's because BSR is very forest-ey, cold and rainy.
      Cuisine of Southern/Southeastern Turkey is usually heavy on meat. It's usually very, very spicy. Don't eat SE Turkish food too much or else you will die because of a heart attack or sodium overload lol, but it's pretty delicious.
      Western Turkey is usually known for the royal food of the Ottoman Era! To be honest, the Turkish royal food is unlike anything I encountered, it's literally a world on its own. Eccentric food like slow cooked meat with honey and almonds or a desert made out of chicken breast can be seen in it. It sounds very... weird, I know but trust me it tastes great, lol.
      I guess SE Turkish food can be considered as close to Lebanese food but I think Lebanese cuisine and other Turkish cuisines are like from different worlds.

My dad and I used to go every single weekend (before I started working weekends) for a delicious brunch, and it’s literally just the two of us in the whole place. We tell everyone about this restaurant because we don’t want it to close. It’s sooooo good! I really hope they can stay in business.

    I love it when you get MREs and the food actually looks like something a person can enjoy eating. The Turkish Government don't really leave you wanting for anything with this MRE and recognize that food/the rituals surrounding it are a source of joy for people, and I think that attention to detail is really nice. The fun sensory experiences of mealtimes are still preserved (like with the coffee filter, or the inclusion of soup to eat with your entree), and the flavors and textures are interesting, and they give you big portions so you aren't left still hungry. The details are really important to people, and joy and normalcy are everything in emergency or combat situations, and it's nice to see a country that recognizes that and works to include these little details that make it a lot more pleasant.
