I laid my leather grain side down on my cutting mat and the lines of the mat transferred onto the leather. It was the lining part of a guitar strap but still....Couldn't get the ink off. Had to bring down the price of the strap $20.
Can you do a video drawing in your computer, you mentioned the software infinity draw, I would like to see the interaction
That's a really good idea! I will soon. The process I use is to sketch my design with a pencil. I then scan the drawing, or take a photo and email it to myself. Then I import it into Affinity draw and trace over it with affinity's pencil tool that has a sculpt mode which smooths out your lines as you're drawing, so that that you don't have those pixilated jagged lines you usually see when drawing with computer graphics programs. It's a really kool feature and great for making professional looking leather carving patterns. Thanks for the idea and keep an eye out, as I will be doing a tutorial on this!

When and why did you switch out covers? in the beginning You had already cut the tounded corners when you cut the blank to size, later on after tooling the bottom corners are square and you cut them again.
Good catch! I wondered if any one would notice. I started a cover thinking I would do the pleated diamond pattern, but I miss cut one of the line in the diamond pattern, so I shifted gears and stamped a basket weave pattern over the mistake. I then came back and did another try at the diamond pattern which turned out okay and that's when you see me cut the corners again.
