The first time I saw the line "The planet broke before the Guard did" I was in tears.
Chaos always wins in the end.
@@Valyn Cadia was a fortress world that held back the chaos coming out of the eye of terror for a long looooooong time. Their defense was so belligerent that chaos forces dropped a blackstone fortress out of orbit and broke the planet apart. The guard's lasguns were seen firing even as pieces of the planet separated into space.
The planet broke before the guard did.
The way the soundtrack meshes with the gameplay is just phenomenal.
Yeah Jesper Kyd is so good, his work in Vermintide and Borderlands is great too

Sorry brother, but in this unit, you have to earn your shovel. Mostly by outliving the people carrying shovels and picking it off their soon to be recycled corpses.

@@SeldomSanguine There is the subclass tho. There is only 4 subclasses at launch, that's why you will only see one trailer for each of the class. The rest will come later, at a rate of 1 ever 3 months according to Fatshark (and it might cost money everytime). So yeah, the Veteran will start with the shovel.

Easily the best part is the accompanying soundtrack.
It brings to mind the stamping of boots, an inexhaustible march, and the enemy is in the way. Whoever they got for it, is absolutely killing it!

I fully agree. Being able to hear the cadence from the music despite all the chaos and carnage was such a good detail they managed to get right.
I know the dialogue and the music blend together in such a way I get a massive chill down my spine.

@@SureshotBowmen I was a psyker! You can instantly pop the head of any enemy at any range. Incredibly helpful for specials. Useless for anything else, though. So long as my party called out any specials I missed, we cakewalked every mission as no one ever got bombed, suppressed, captured, or mauled.

I know it's a bit weird, but I damn love the voice actors they chose for this one. Can't explain it they just sound fitting with their mixture of gruff military and almost British brute just works for what they've shown.
Most the voice actors sound like they have genuine British accents that are only a bit exaggerated which is nice

Why your mind says chainsword will forever be a mystery to me, it's so unpractical and useless as a sword. it's a club that hold an enemy close and the beta showed how that is not a great weapon to use when fighting more than 1 enemy

My Ironbreaker days in Vermintide showed me your melee could be useful against heavier enemies while range is good for mobs. The chainsword is more like a club with a chainsaw, and that's why I enjoy it.

Ha, I was expecting a more stoic voice with that getup, but I already really like these cockney soldiers screaming at their foes. And more of that ost being teased! Absolutely cannot wait for this game's soundscape.
I mean that wont be the only voice type you will get. There will probably be something more akin to what you said as well.

We will get three personality voices sets per class and per gender, this is only a tiny glimpse of what we will get!

wow, the soundtrack just gave me goosebumps and the voice acting is on point again, i really hope the battle music in the game is more "heroic last stand´"-ish than "hear the enemies drums! panic! RUN!"
I reckon that there is going to be both kind of tracks in it.

People at Fatshark are pretty proud of this one if they're showing us a sword block. Not just that they showed us but the HOW was a lowkey humble brag.
It’s like what parrying and blocking looked like in Vermintide 2 but wayyyyy smoother and refined. I do miss the “clink!” sound from V2 tho, I imagine it’ll sound just as good in game too

Okay this is awesome. I wanted to run a group of 4 veterans, go all full guardsmen but was worried about enemy types that are higher toughness. Now just have one of the squad being a plasma gun!

@@LexYeen You need balance. Plasmas are good for thicc bois but cant clear hordes fast. You'll want someone with ad control and probably a precision weapon to handle low health back-of-the-room targets

@@cedricschmidtke4287 Yeah, they're their own thing. Often elite veterans who have finished their service as guardsman and fell on hard times that winds up with them being forced into the job.
@@cedricschmidtke4287 a space marine who joins the inquisition also known as Deathwatch still makes them a Space Marine regardless of who they fight for. the name is its origin.

If it has a rewarding game loop with tons of replayability, we are in for a treat.
It seems damn similar to vermintide 2 in gameplay (thats a huge compliment) and in that game I have some 360+ hours and its still fun As hell
I think they are doing the same as DRG and using modifiers on missions. That helps a ton for replayability if done right
I hope the map design can compete with Vermintide; so many of the maps had memorable sections and color schemes with all kinds of secrets. I'm worried that with the game taking place in a hive under city it's going to be too much of the same scenery.

I played Kruber in Vermintide first and I'll play Veteran first in Darktide as well. There is something awesome and inspiring about an unpowered regular Human triumphing against all odds, especially in a place as hostile as Warhammer 40k.
jus my thoughts, i love fighting against all odds
... these characters all appear to have latent psychic-power with the focuses they may call upon...
If Kruber and Veteran were unpowered 'regular' human's they'd die in 2-3 hits, so not really.

as far as we heard and based on the ludicrous amount of recorded voiceline they do. but not exactly in the same way as Vtide since you can pretty much choose the mood you want to give to your caracter (you could pretty much decide that your "kruber" as a "kerillian" personnality so he would be the one throwing snarky remark when you play him).
oh there definitely does have interesting interactions especially for the psyker and ogryn

I cannot wait to use that lasgun. All the classes look cool but I have been waiting so long to play a regular IG and use a flashlight to blast enemies with. The projectiles and firing animation looks so good. I also love how the sound tracks for the class spotlights so far. The only thing I hope is if players can play the same class. Imagine all the compositions a squad could have. Could be 2 veterans, 1 priest, and 1 physker (I think that's what he is but I could be wrong) or (what I would love to do with my friends) a whole squad of Ogren. It would just add to the customization that is already there and make things more fun and interesting. But I'd rather that be a secondary update and they focused on making all classes feel great, and the gameplay and story good. Can't wait for this game to release.
I'm pretty sure they confirmed that you can have any number of the same archetype. So you can have 4 Ogryns, for example.
Trust me, the lasgun is fantastic in game, it blows holes in both the enemy's armor and flesh, it's super satisfying. Also yes you can have unlimited numbers of classes on a team
They've confirmed you can play the same classes. So you can havs a full party of Veterans.

The soundtrack so far seems to perfectly retain that feeling of dread from VT, but with a 40K flavor.
0:24 - damn I like how he sounds! Like an experienced imperial guard that saw a lot of sh*t during his career.
The best/worst thing I'm noticing here is that I'm never going to be able to focus on just one character. I've been so in love with 40k's lore that I'm going to find every archetype so satisfying. I thought I'd do Psyker first and foremost, but these spotlights make me realize that all of them are going to be amazing. I only wonder if the archetypes will act like Vermintide 2 characters and be able to switch subclasses or if the subclass is baked in per character. If you choose a subclass and stick with it...I'm going to have so many characters to level and gear up...
I am certain there isn't sub-classes like Vermintide 2. But that means you can use 2x Veteran and 2x Zealots or 4x Veterans etc. per squad. Either way I am not bothered, perhaps the talent selection is different enough to V2 to make 2x of the same class in a squad viable.
@@lancepage1914 No, I'm pretty sure there's multiple classes per archetype. Reading the blogposts about these classes, they specifically separate archetype and class. Otherwise, why would you designate Veteran: Sharpshooter or Zealot: Preacher?
Finally, gameplay with the plasma rifle. And a spade as a weapon! I'm pretty sure Veteran is going to be the class I play first.

What's interest me that the lasgun or lascarbine isn't kantrael pattern lasgun that used by many guardsman. Likely that's a locally made tertium pattern lasgun. Either way, i hope they add hot shot lasgun.
The website lists the starting lasgun for veteran as a Kantreal mk 7 so I wonder if the ones shown I this trailer are higher level variants or if they did go for a unique look for tertium equipment.

I said it in the first character teaser as well, but I'll say it again... These trailers are godlike... Give the person who made them a damn raise. I thought I was far to old to be hyped by marketing but these 2 videos are just sooo good. Can't wait for the next one.
As a more critical note... The fps does seem low in a few scenes here... So I hope it will be fixed. Games love to release in shitty states nowadays.

Having an entrenching tool as a weapon option is cool
One of the MANY things that I love about WH40k is that while the enemy can fight with the powers of dark gods, be countless bugs committed to consuming the galaxy, hulking green brutes that literally survive on destruction, or whatever, the line is held by (roughly) normal humans.
The world is literally falling to the ruinous powers of death and decay, and what are you going to do about it? I'm going to shoot it a lot. Who are you to defy such powerful gods? Just some dude with a gun and faith in the Emperor.

So it looks like the guardsman can use every type of ranged weapon except the ogryns which is great, I was wondering if we would be able to use the auto guns as the guard since lasguns aren't exactly high RoF.
Maybe they'll add Hellguns/Hotshot Lasguns in the future. We can always hope!
@@orbitalbutt6757 we don't know if they are or aren't in the game and hopefully they are but I would imagine that they have to be like a high RoF gun maybe balanced with a heat mechanic in mind.

@@imaginehonor8408 Yup, I’m aware. We’ll get a release date after the pc release. Its a day 1 gamepass game, Microsoft paid for exclusivity. Vermintide 2 got updates late on Xbox, I’m guessing it’s gonna be a similar situation with this game. Even with the exclusivity deal.

I think since Xbox console release is being pushed back and we were never given the opportunity to participate in the beta that we should be given the cosmetic items that were given to the pc beta participants. It also wouldn’t be a bad idea to have some kind of event with increased XP and or drops when the release does happen so we can get caught up to the pc players. Please like this comment to increase the chance that Fatshark will actually read this. Thanks!
