I’m getting mine in a couple weeks! 2005 Yamaha vstar 1100 classic! Only a little over 4000 miles!! It belongs to my brother so I’m getting a super great deal on what is essentially a new bike! He bought it new and has kept it in his garage all except 4000 miles! I have yet to find anything negative about a vstar! I’m pumped! Thanks for sharing!!

I had a 2005 V-Star 1100. These are great bikes, and I loved mine! The V-Star has two carburetors and they have to be synced, if they're not, it will run like crap. Also, I remember mine would do weird shit after letting it sit for 20 minutes: it would spit and sputter for a few miles then it would be fine... I'm impressed by how you didn't lose your cool and pulled off the highway. Be safe.

Luckily for me the previous owner of the bike just got it back from the shop where he got the carbs cleaned out and synced. the issue was that he set the fuel valve for me in the wrong position and sent me on my way on reserve so I ran out shortly after haha. I sold the bike but it was fun to ride for a while

I’ve owned my 2002,VStar 1100 Silverado classic ( a mouthful) since it was new. Mine still runs great, I have rejetted the carbs , added a Kuryakin Hybercharger with a K and N open air filter and Vance and Hines pipes. My advice? Keep the fuel treated and shut off the fuel and run it till it’s out of fuel before turning off the ignition, I strongly recommend doing this setting in the saddle with the bike upright and not just on the jiffy stand so fuel don’t just settle on the left carb. I run very large jets and my mileage is not super great and it will pop and backfire occasionally ( this is harmless to the bike) but my power is substantial and it runs very strong. My bike is not the standard stock Silverado that was purchased back in the day, rather it’s the top end catalog Silverado that had all of Yamaha’s high end equipment like their very best seat and all their high end chrome Yamaha parts, Kuryakin being the added exception. I did also add the Kuryakin oil filter relocation kit yrs ago. I understand later models were redesigned, making oil changes much easier and I thought seriously about trading to a later model BUT- in the improved redesign for oil changes, Yamaha completely lost the look of the bike. Just my opinion and I am annul about something s I guess. They just did not look near as good, fortunately the Oil filter relocation kit made oil changes quick and easy and I did not lose the look of the bike, otherwise at the time I’d of probably gone to a different make, 20 yrs of ownership? No complaints.

At $2700 you did good. I bought a 2005 V-Star Midnight with only 2,300 original miles a year ago for $2,000. Garage kept...excellent condition. Obviously wasn't ridden much so I had to have the carbs cleaned and synced. I recently serviced it and gave it a fresh detail. Selling it now for $4,200. Should sell super quick at that price. These bikes are under rated. The V-Stars are so much nicer than the Honda Shadows, Kawasaki Vulcans, etc. They have better quality components, better fit and finish and if you're lucky you can find them for very little money because the previous owner no longer rides or just needs it out of his garage. Sounds like you're planning on selling yours too. I think for the price, a potential new owner is getting a lot of bike for the money, considering what new ones sell for.

I love my 02 1100 and do all maintenance on it also but I don't think that could have helped my midshaft failure. It happens to the most pristine machines even sometimes on low miles. They do have common issues but I'm not saying it makes them bad. They can be very reliable and once again after getting another issue ironed out, I feel the same. All the things that have gone south for me haven't had anything to do with maintenance.

I ride sport bikes that usually don't have petcock valves so this was my 1st time using one. I asked the owner to set it properly and HE got it wrong. that was an easy fix and i went on my way after i stopped using the heel shifter haha

You don’t know how to shift?? 1st is always all the way down. Run carb cleaner thru that thing every tank.

haha yes! the onwer of the bike set the bike on reserve for some reason and I got super confused by the heel shifter. and lost count of the darn gears. after i pulled over it went great

Yes! Just bought one of these bikes (08 Custom model) and rode home in 43 degree rain and hail. Had never even ridden a cruiser in my life! Usually ride standards, dual sports or sport bikes; wanted to try a cruiser for a season and couldn't pass it up (Craigslist $1500 and 10,000 mi/ mint cond). Very strange riding with my legs way up in front of me! Will get used to it eventually. Owner told me he didn't have to remove exhaust to do oil changes on this?? Has stock exhaust; maybe '08 Customs are different design? (no oil filter relocation kit)

This video was posted almost a year ago, my guess is this guy is dead. He has no stinking clue about motorcycles. He should not be riding.
