The squeaking sounds can be solved by spraying some wd40 around the airpods. This doesn’t only stop the sneaking but also reduces wear. If the sqeak comes from the plate, you got a production error and they didn't use sufficient glue.
As a word of caution, WD-40 can degrade a lot of different types of polymers. However, this comment is right that a lubricant should help. Most silicone greases are compatible with most polymers, but verify that whatever grease you use is safe for use with whatever the air pods are made of or you might end up in a warranty fight with Nike down the road.
Ignorant airpods user reading this comment without finishing the video: Why the f would I spray my airpods?
Silly me. 😂
@@JRuns😊😊
I was fortunate enough to be able to pick up a pair. Both shoes were squeaking like crazy. So we just spray the wd40 around the part where the AirPods meet the foam?
@@willwu1688 pretty much. It's what ended the sqeak on all my previous sets and also for other people.
Out of five marathons I have run, three of them were in Alphafly 1 (two races) and 2 (the last marathon). I absolutely love those shoes and comparing to other Carbon plated ones, they can save up more energy, giving to the runner the same propulsion they have in other great supershoes. Iam looking forward to v3, maybe the best version of my even favorite long distance Racer! Great review Emily!
Thanks for the review. I really appreciate the run footage. I tend to overpronate and your videos give me a sense of how a shoe may perform on my own feet. Very helpful! Hope you are having a great holiday season!
Thank you! You too!
Given it is Runlikeheller approved. I am thinking of buying this shoe, but I will make my decision, after the NB elite 4 review .I love the new color 😊
Super excited for this one! Fingers crossed there's enough inventory to go around on 01/04 of this proto colorway.
My Sunday night is never complete without Run Like Heller. Thank you for taking time to talk about the Alphafly 3. Because of the price, I am still on the fence about purchasing it. However, I think you gave us some good information.
As someone who’s a back packer and used the second version of the Alphafly in my half-marathon, I’m excited to try it out but not until I do another half-marathon in 2025 so I’ll wait once there’s more inventory later in 2024.
I'm so happy to see this review, especially from you. I had the exact same reaction as you did to the AlfaFly 1's, where I had high hopes and did not get on with them at all (despite loving the Vaporfly Next%) I also like you decided to avoid the 2's, after assuming they would be too much like the 1's. Glad to hear the 3's are much more promising, especially at more human effort levels, and not just elite. Thank you for another great review !
Thank you for watching!
Hi Emily,
Thanks for the informative review. I currently run in the Vaporfly 3s (my first super shoe) but I’m excited for the Alphafly 3s.
I’ll be running two half marathons next year (one trail one road) so the Alphafly 3s will be getting some good use in training and for the road race.
Keep up the fantastic work 🤙🏻
Good luck in all your races!
I never been a fan of Nike running shoes but this is a great review!! I heard other reviewers say same thing about the squeaking sounds as well.
Oh my gosh I need to tell you- I was watching this with my 18 month old daughter and she was clapping so much during the run footage and made me rewind it. She laughed and giggled! So you have a fierce little fan here!
I love that!!! 🥹🥹🥹 tell her I say hello!
Great review, thank you! I've been contemplating my marathon shoe for Mesa and this is on the top of my list!
Best review until now 😀 can’t wait to grab them
Loved version 1, not so much version 2 but I’m going to try these as soon as I can get them 👍🏻
Thank you for das Video and Sharing You experience with us.
Really looking forward to my first pair of Alphaflys.
Another great video Emily. Although I am not a Nike fan, the shoe does look impressive. Maybe something I need to try on at my local running store to sway my thoughts on Nike. Outstanding 5K time! Way to go!
I got two pairs of shoes from my family for Christmas. I bought two with some Christmas money. I bought the Hoka Challenger 7’s ina bright blue and turquoise and some Sam Edelman boots in velvet.
Great review. How is the Airpod soul? There any protection for the Airpod soul!
Great to hear that it can work for most not just elites. I’m running my first road marathon in April and watching all these videos with a keen eye! How do you like it compared to the NB you wore for the marathon recently? Would you go NB or this one next marathon?
I’d probably still wear the new balance for a marathon because I know it’s more reliable and easy on my legs!
Mind blowing blockbuster intro always.......love from india
6:34 You were running so fast that leaf was caught up in your vortex! 😊😊😊
Great review interesting shoe going to chk it out what other colors it's offered in the price is steep but will see thanks and hi ruby wherever you are
Thanks for great review, just wondering did you pick up any stones on your runs, I live on coast so last off pebbles on my runs and races.
No stones!
I am still trying to save my AF1 for racing🎉Now it means I can use them for workout runs
Having tried both the AF1 and AF2, I couldn't get past the obnoxiously pronounced arch support in both iterations. I'm anxious to pick up this version though. I think that having one continuous slab of ZoomX should eliminate the arch support issue as the shoe is now no longer de-coupled as in the previous two versions.
I hated the arch in the first version and I didn’t have an issue with it in the 3!
I like the socks over pants look.
Could You try Ardiles Nfinity Sense Pro or Ortuseight Solar?compare it with expensive shoes.. appreciate from Indonesia
I love AF since V1, which remains my fav shoe to date. I’ve run Chicago in V2 (one of the most hated shoes ever 😂) and I enjoyed every single mile. I recall you didn’t like v1 at all, so what’s different now?
Wider plate, less weird arch feeling, doesn’t feel as bizarre and clunky to me. More like a well oiled machine
The upper reminds me of upper on the upper on the adidas prime x 2 strung 👍
Thanks for the review, do you know if there is any difference between men and women version?
I think they’re the same!
Great review
How did you get it early??
I like your review, great channel
Thank you!!
Great review, my problem with the Alphafly V1 was that I felt like I was falling backwards. I add a heel wedge of 8mm to feel like I get a normal drop. I don't have this problem in the Vaporfly V2 etc.. How is the Alphafly V3? Normal drop?
It’s an 8mm drop and it feels pretty normal to me. If anything I feel like I’m falling forward
@@RunLikeHeller Perfect. 👍🏻
What’s your current marathon shoe? I’m also around a 4h marathon. I’ve ran my recent marathons in Endorphin Speeds and Alphafly 1’s. I’m considering waiting for a sale on the Endorphin Pro 3’s for my spring marathon.
I ran in the SC Trainer V2 for the NYC Marathon and it was perfect
@@RunLikeHellerI love the SCT! Why did you choose them over the Elites?
22.25 is a great time! I ran 22.32 last year, and then this year in a dozen 5Ks I only went under 23 minutes once, but it was 22.31 for a one second PR. So I’m really hitting a wall, and maybe a $275 super shoe is what I need to break thru it.
Training change for the 5k. Shoes would make a lot of difference.
So what are you going to gain with a super shoe over a non super shoe in a 5k with the same training. Maybe 10 to 15 seconds overall? That is noT worth the price of the shoes unless you need that extra 15 seconds.
There are far cheaper 5K oriented shoes that did make a difference for me--in my case the the Takumi Sen which one can find for around $100 now and then on discount. So training plus a specific shoe for faster shorter distances are a good compromise.
How do you compare the AF3 to the Cielo X1? Which shoe can you recommend for a slow pace runner
Both are great for any paced runner but the Cielo x1 might have more stability from the winged plate and I think will be more durable
Autch….pronation really is a thing🎯 good footige👍
Thanks for the run footage, it seems it’s not meant for overpronators like me. Your right foot was pronating inside even on the start line.
Toebox Version 1 vs 3?
How about for the slow pace runners like myself, is this good for us? How about the stability?
Stability is not the best but it’s not the worst of the super shoes I’ve tried. Doesn’t matter your pace. If you’re interested in buying it, go for it!
The alphafly 1 absolutely killed my feet with the high arch so I've never even considered another pair. I've gone off nike completely if I'm honest.
Nowadays there's really no need to spend that much on a shoe when there's better or as good for a lot less.
Not sure if it's just a camera angle thing but looks like your foot is collapsing inwards. I had same issue with nb elite v2 but some arch supported insoles cured it.
Yes my foot is overpronating. It does in pretty much all super shoes
I'm not a Nike fan, but these are intriguing, and they look bad-ass. Also, there's nothing better than showing up to a holiday "fun run" in a pair of shoes that cost more than your first car, just for the flex.
😂 for what it’s worth, not one person at the race cared hahaaha
Only thing I’d add is the amount of midsole they cut away at the heel may surprise some people and make the shoe less stable for heel strikers
Yes good point!!
It was so funny to see NY marathon sidewalk runners trying to “finish” the distance by walking in these shoes:)
Is the alphafly 3 softer than the model 2? Many people are saying that the Model 3 is much firmer than the previous ones
I never tried the 2nd version. But this feels softer to me than the 1
@@RunLikeHellerthanks!!! More soft is great!!!!
It’s also more stable at the same time. It’s supposedly firmer than v2 but I’ve run in it (got to test at my running store) and it’s plenty soft enough for me. Any softer would be a stability issue IMO with that kind of stack height. There’s a ton of cush and bounce to that midsole.
Just ordered mine in the UK, possible game changer like the original Vaporfly I'm thinking
I think it will be for a lot of people
I'm normally not running in shoes with drops higher than 5mm. I loved the Alphafly 1 (which had 4mm) but I didn't get along with the Alphafly 2 (which had 8mm)... I'm still not sure whether or not it was the drop that made me hate them. So what do you think - should I give this a try, or is the high drop that noticable?
I don’t mind shoes with high drops so to me it really isn’t noticeable if anything it helps me get up on my toes better
Emilly, what do the numbers mean on the side of the outsole?
Apparently that’s a wear tester number?
whats your opinion for Alphafly v3 vs endorphin elite
Hmmm tough. I think alphafly 3 is more fun but I think my feet and legs would do better long term in the endorphin elite
Have you experienced blisters on your foot arch? after running this pair of shoes..
I have not
As a huge fan of just about anything ZoomX, I like the looks of the AF3, however, I despise white shoes. Love the orange, hate the white. 🙂
Don’t they always have other colorways after the initial launch color?
Not long now before we pass that 300 coins threshold. 😞
Why so much bloody stack height?? Surely this isn’t good for body mechanics long term
Is this better than the Vaporfly 3?
To me yes
The tempo next % do exactly the same with the squeaking air pods
Those are way, way heavier. Over the course of 26.2 miles that can make a huge difference in how your feet and lets feel at the end.
Bought it today🎉 But here in Germany we have to pay 310€/ ~340$😅
Wooof! Enjoy them though!
The squeaking might be a cadence monitoring feature?
But seriously, that's disappointing for such an expensive shoe.
If I saw you in those, I would figure out a way to steal them and risk it all to have them 2 weeks earlier 😂. Sorry but just being honest!
Honestly, middle of the pack runners really have no need to spend this much on a pair of runners for a marathon. Probably get the same results using a top daily trainer.
No one has any need to spend this much money on a shoe. I think when it comes to these it’s less of a need and more of a want, and if people want to spend the money on a shoe like this, they can.
Hows abt sizing? Is it same with vp3?
true to size for me
Adding that it was perfectly TTS for me in a W9.
At first blush, it resembles a high heel shoe from the side....
Use WD-40 on that squeak. Also if you’re a wide footed woman, go for the men’s shoes.
AF V1 was a great marathon shoe for me until about 32k...at 37k it was a calf wrecker. AF V2 was amazing, but felt like too much shoe. Finished the marathon and felt great. AF V3 is a complete no brainer....everything I love about the V2 with a smoother transition and over an oz lighter?!? Take....my....money.
I just can’t face spending this amount of money on one pair of shoes.
the alphafly 3 is softer than the model 2
Take my my money Nike.
Why wouldn't u run a marathon in it? That's what it's for. It's amazing for the marathon.
Nike’s greatest cash grab. The price is absurd. They probably pay 100 staff wages in Asia for a week with one pair sold. Lesson: if you can get the world’s fastest runners to wear it, you have a cash cow in the form of frail egos throughout the running world who will pay what you ask.
You don’t have to be an elite, but you gotta have some earth credit floating around to use the shoe😂
I don’t hear any squeaking on the video. Sure it wasent the insole? My invincible run 2 made fun sounds from the midsole in one of the shoes. Hmmm be careful in that shoe. I think the footage shows they ain’t doing something good for your pronation. It goes for both your feet’s.
With these shoes you become addicted to them, because they do not train the most important running muscles and tendons in your legs, and when you are going to start running in regular normal shoes you will be slower and even more prone to injuries. The only excuse to run and train in these fast carbon plated shoes is when you need to win an important race no matter what which is relevant only for professional highest status runners making living out of winning races. Otherwise running in these shoes you are just loosing.
Atomknit does not fit a high instep at all. M. Super tight and uncomfortable
Have you tried on or felt this version of atom knit? It’s very soft compared to the earlier one(s) which I rejected immediately. This version’s upper on my medium (average) width feet felt absolutely perfect and comfortable. I have a normal instep but there was zero lace bite or pressure from the upper and I think you shouldn’t rule it out until you try it, unless you’re not interested for other reasons of course.
@@levandmarthapolyakin-aaron2183 maybe I’ll try em
all the good things are expensive or mtey make us fat thats the rule
The only footwear in existence that looks worse than crocs. LOL
$285 for a squeaker? Could other runners hear you coming? 😂
Not sure I wore headphones to drown it out 😂
Goofy
Styling has just got out of hand......
It's so very ugly though. There's something off with the heel. Not that look matter too much, but still incredibly ugly.
Inestable, caro,.feo y pesado jamas lo compraría y ademas no es muy duradero y el ruido que hacen es insoportable!
How's the shower performance?
It is terrible that I’ve brought these for treadmill running 🫣
Buy them for whatever you want!
