  • The full title is “A Traditionalist Contribution to Christian-Muslim Inter-religious Dialogue: A Study of Two Perspectives on the Crucifixion.” The presentation was given by David Dakake at the Sacred Web 2006 conference "Tradition in the Modern World," held in Edmonton, Canada.
In his talk, Dakake focuses on another controversy in Christian and Muslim theologies - the crucifixion of Christ. Using an example from the writing of Seyyed Hossein Nasr, Dakake illustrates how the ambiguity in the Quranic depiction of the crucifixion may allow two very providential and thus valid interpretations of the one event, interpretations that could deepen inter-religious understanding between the two faiths.
David Dakake is Adjunct Professor in the Religious Studies Department of George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia, specializing in Comparative Religion and Islamic Thought.
