- Welcome to the first episode of TULLE SCHOOL! Learn how to make a glamorous boa with me! In this series I’ll be teaching how to work with tulle, using fun projects to demonstrate different techniques. This project is SUPER EASY and requires no sewing skills.
I've been using this tutorial as a reference point for many of my Ballroom effects, thank you so much for sharing! Love the No-Sew content
Used your tutorial to make my first sustainable boa. Im so proud of it, it took me +/- 12 hours though 🙈 but she is FULL!! Thank you so much ❤ xxx a happy burlesque dancer
Thank you. This is beautiful and I'm going to make one and use it for my mermaid parade costume ❤
Love this tutorial! I ended up needing about 30-35 yards of tulle, but love the volume and made it a full 6ft!
Fantastic x
WOW thank you so much this was super helpful!!!!! I have about zero sewing skills and really need a boa but I’m on a very tight budget so thank you so much for taking the time to make this video and give me the answers!!
You’re doing the lords work!! I have been struggling to find a good seamstress so I’m on a self teaching journey I cannot wait to try this
I just randomly stumbled across this and I’m so glad I did! I’m going to make this a summer project (Australia) for my next burlesque solo performance ❤️
Fanstastic, let me know how it turns out!
This is fabulous!! Definitely using this technique in my project. And I love Trixie and Katya 💕

This was very helpful!
You are absolutely beautiful!! You wear the boa so well!!! I’m grateful I came across you!!!!! I am new to sewing !! You are definitely assuring to newbies!!!!
Thank you! I’m so glad that you are sewing! It’s the best :)
These was very helpful and I will try to add this to a dress
the chef john reference, the creation itself, LOVE 😍
Thank you!!! Chef John is my favorite. I hope can be as encouraging as him
You have just made something I thought would be a nightmare look so easy - I’m an intermediate sewer and whilst I wanna try the 2nd one… this looks far less stressful!
Big love from Manchester, UK 🇬🇧 x
Thank you so much for your kind words! Sewing doesn’t have to be stressful!! Let me know how it turns out :)
@@athenalawton going well so far… by choice I’ve bunched my knots very close together to make it super super full so sadly 20 yards will not be enough tulle! It’s much more relaxing tying knots rather than sewing 💚
You’re a hero for giving me this idea x
Genius 🙌🏾🙌🏾
You have inspired me! Thank you for creating this series. I want to try for myself! I am in Orange County but am willing to drive up to the LA area for great values on tulle. I ask if you have any fabric shops to recommend. I would so greatly appreciate it!
omfg im OBSESSED
Omg I been looking to find a boa to go across my dress.. ❤ you saved me from buying a dress with the boa look
Definitely Subscribed ❤
Thank you so much for this tutorial - I ended up using voile which I think is a bit softer than tulle, but it still worked really well, creating dreamy floaty ruffles, and I will be wearing it to my civil partnership ceremony :)
Thanks mine turned out great
Yes, it worked so good with me... Made a fluffy puffy black boa .. 🥺❤
Than you so much for sharing this!
Thank you, I'll make this for the Harry Styles concert ✌🏻
I love it
this is so cute and so helpful !! i do sew regularly but only hand sewing (tourette’s and sewing machines… tried it, knocked mine over repeatedly oop) and even that’s been a bit rough w my tics recently so i haven’t thought of anything to do with my tulle in a while and i’m absolutely doing this soon:D
Makes me so happy to hear it’s helpful! I’m committed to keep up with no sew tutorials :)
So I literally just spent 30 min looking for u on my TikTok b/c I remembered follwing u but couldn't find u - I'm so relieved I found u on here!
Omg I’m glad you found me too! Welcome to my CZcams!!! ♥️
burlesque babies like myself are so grateful for content like this! i'm hoping to make an outrageous boa for an upcoming performance.
I have been looking for a tulle boa tutorial and was recommended to your boa videos by a FB sewing page. I love this! If I want the no sew boa fluffier like your gray boa in video part 2, do I use more layers of tulle?
AMAZING!!!!
Thank you bestie!
from France Please what is the width if the tulle Great idea Thanks
Super!
You are absolutely amazing ! Would this technique work with apply tulle to a hoodie ?
❤❤❤
ameiiii ficou tudo
🎉 love from india 🎉
dude i love you
My portrait studio thanks you!!!
Maravilha.👏
Excellent 👌 way
Thank you!
Hi Love your video!!!❤️
Can you use two width of strips and alternate shorter longer shorter longer shorter longer to the end?
Have a great day! ❤
Hi! I’m looking to make a boa. How many yards did you end up using for the final piece? Thanks ❤
thanks
Hi, I love your videos! Can you please make a boa for a small dog dress?
Going to do this tysm
You’re welcome! Thanks for watching!
This is fabulous. I'm very much a beginner and I had started a boa using tulle on a spool. Ran out and bought more and ended up with a massive amount of organza that's far too wide to carry on in the same way. Thank you for saving the day! Do you know if you used more layers would it still work? X
I think it would work! Try and let me know :)
Did it work with organza, too?
Brilliant thank you x 🇬🇧 burlesque 🎉 dancerherexxx
My cut pieces seem to be wider than yours. As a result the knotted pieces look straggly and floppy. How wide was your original boty of tulle? I'm worried I'm using a wider length or a llighter weight tulle?
You’re genius for this 💕
Will it have the same effect if the strips were longer?
It might be more piecey and feathery ! You should try it and let me know how it goes!
Definitely want to do this!! One question I have as a beginner, can organza work as well?? I found such a pretty pattern while tulle shopping. Any other similar fabrics work as a substitute??
I do have the same question! Have you tried it with organza?
Do you recommend any online shops for cheap tulle?
When your strips are ready to be cut what is the measurement from top to bottom? Thank you!!!
Hi Athena
May I use your video to promote making these boa's?
I have set up a Tulle for Turkeys Campaign. To encourage people to make their own and to protect the Turkeys.
Many thanks
Ik this is an old video. but is there a way we can attach this to a skrit?
Question!! I want to use this method to do the two toned thinner style from the floor show in rocky horror, what would I change to make it less poofy? Shorter pieces?
Oh Also if I use the 6inch spools vs the bolt width I'm assuming I might need more?
I’d say you can just pack the knots less densely than I did. If you have a sewing machine, you may want to check out my other boa video because it looks like the ones in rocky use the gathering method. This should work too though! You may need more of the 6 inch spools
I dont understand the connection between the puff ball and the rest...is the puff ball the end ? or?
As a vegan nonbinary costume designer/drag queen wannabe I have to say: I’m amazed! And absolutely in love with you, thanks for sharing your gifts with the world ❤️
Your a lifesaver .. I could kiss you 💋 .. I have a Beauty / editorial shoot tomorrow. This is going to be PERFECTION.
I need for you to sell me some $15 tulle from the fashion district please
