I thought it was overall enjoyable with some really good moments but also some flaws. Overall a solid 7.5/10 with lots of potential for improvement in s2 & 3. 🙂
People can say what they want about this series, but I love that we can't immediately know stuff like that's Jet, that's Azula. So many surprises for us who knew the series that made the show actually fun and new instead of just an adaptation.
I highly doubt he could, but even if Aang DID have the power to defeat the firebenders that attacked his home in the avatar state, he wouldn’t have been able to control it. Meaning, he probably would have killed just as many airbenders as well.
This show is exceptionally well done. If you are one of those that doesn't want everything to be the same and evaluates the show on how well they're telling this story, it's objectively an excellent show. They're weaving themes well, humanizing and developing the characters that were one note and cartoonish, and nailing the emotional notes in a way the cartoon couldn't always accomplish. Plus this show will only improve as the very young cast ages and grows into their characters.
Agree about the young cast. The Harry Potter kids acting was a bit sketchy at times in the first few movies, but they all grew up to give great performances as those characters.

Maybe with a live action cast it would be weirder to see Katara and Aang together. They have not really hinted at that at all. Also the crystal scene is not between these too, sooooo... :D
@@isaaclloyd4091they did hint at the show doing katara and aang at the end of episode 8, when katara was talking to aang as the ocean spirit. the director of the show confirmed it.
I also love how it was gyatso who got aang out of the avatar state in the first episode. So bittersweet and i bawled my eyes out cause goddamn it was so beautifully done
I know it’s an unpopular opinion, but I like this show, a lot. I never got to grow up with the OG show and whilst I’m still young I like that I get to have this.
It’s different but I like it! That sums it up well! I like that it focuses a bit more on the cost of 100 years of war & adds some things we didn’t see in the original show (especially the funeral). Also really loved the subtle nod to the least liked episode, the Great Divide, with having Sokka & Katara fighting that seemed reminiscent of that episode & yet skipped most of one of the biggest filler (ish) eps. Some of the stuff didn’t need to be in this show (riding the Koi fish, & some of the sillier super cartoony stuff).
Subscribed solely cos zutara hahah. In all seriousness tho! You guys are such a joy to watch ahhh. Can't wait for your reaction to the next 4 eps especially ep 6~
I was mad that they got rid of Sokka’s arch because I think it made him who he was. This Sokka is too serious. But I understand if they’re changing the pacing

Team Katara and Aang all the way. If they change it, some very important people would not be born. Some of my favorite characters ever wouldn’t be born :(
*CAN NETFLIX PULL THIS OFF* Short answer... no. They not only cut out "Fluff" but a LOT of content that was DETRIMENTAL to certain characters developments. Katara loses so much of her fire and passion, Sokka isn't a sexist but therefore doesn't learn anything from those mistakes, Suki is nothing more than a pawn meant to lift Sokka up instead of being her own character and challenging his beliefs, Bumi is a grumpy, angry old man instead of a humorous wise one... The list goes on and on. Zuko is the only one who I think is perfectly represented here.
Aaaaaaaand title makes me wanna unsub 😂jk I LOVED the live action. It ate fr. You could tell everyone who worked on it loves the original show. I didn’t want some frame by frame remake (boring) or the same dialogue/storyline (also boring, just go watch the original atp) and they SERVED. Getting to actually see cool backstories like the start of the 100 year war? Ate. Getting to see benders use their elements realistically like burning a man? Devoured. Combining all the filler episodes and bringing cool new twists? I loved it. Only thing I didn’t like was the mood for the dialogue, or maybe just the dialogue in general. It felt cheesy and very scripted. I’d rather it be more natural, or have them all let the actors loosen up. The actors are SO much like their characters too. and I CANNOT WAIT to see our blind queen toph.
