Very cool to hear the complete story. Sign of respect when Dale Earnhardt asks permission to “Take a little spin in the grass.”
g day
Got permission from Mr. France himself
I dont care what your favourite sport is. Whether it is football, baseball, or racing. This right here was the GREATEST display of sportsmanship and respect ever when Sr. took that checkered and everybody lined up on pit road to congratulate him.
0:10 - Hearing Allen Bestwick calling the '98 Daytona 500 and Dale's Only 500 on Radio, Pretty Badass
And then called Dale Jr’s win in the 2001 Pepsi 400.
My dad was almost 22 when this happened and he still calls this the greatest race ever
20 years of triing 20 years of frustration....
well its been 25 years since and tears of sorrow still mist my eyes,
but then I think of all the other memories and I truly appreciate the opportunity to have lived it.
side by side door handle to door handle,
bumpers lined up well back then and the men were tough in and out of the car,
well I sure wish the bumpers at least lined up better these days.
but the men and machines of old are like fine wine better with age and the fond memories.
on days like these when skies are gray i remember sunny sundays back in the day
Me too, I was a little kid when he won but I still remember it like it was yesterday. Major nostalgia. The golden days of the sport
Man I miss dale earnhardt
And he still had so much to give the sport both as a driver as he was still competitive and then would have really got ahold of DEI in around 03/04
I totally agree 💯% I think if Dale Earnhardt Sr. was still alive today i don’t think there would be any stage races or these 1 big lug-nut hubs & most likely a few other things as well because when Dale Sr. spoke Nascar listened. I think Dale Earnhardt Sr. carried more clout than Richard Petty to be honest. Dale Sr. was more vocal in certain circumstances than Richard Petty & got his point across quicker. & in recent news with Jimmie Johnson returning to the Nascar Cup Series i think Richard Petty is a bit intimidated or worried about Jimmie Johnson getting that 8th championship & getting more attention & becoming the main face of Nascar if he does in fact win that 8th championship.
@@sudsysutherland359 jimmy won't win his 8th, because he's only racing 5 races 😂
This moment made me a fan of Nascar. Didn't want to pick sr. As my driver though. Looked for someone coming up and that is when Dale Jr. became my favorite driver. Loved this moment seeing all crews give Dale that respect!
Still gives me chills.
So much respect back then
Blink of an eye, if you've never seen it, you should. Very emotional for a lot more drivers than you'd think, especially Michael Waltrop.
I don't even watch Nascar alot and I was only 6 when Dale passed, but I cried seeing every pit crew come down and congratulate him
One of the greatest moments in Nascar history.
This is pretty cool, I never heard the audio of that day
The 1998 Daytona 500 has never forget for the GREAT Grandfather of Dale SR
Biggest win for Dale SR
R.I.P The Intimidator 1951 - 2001 🥲🥲🥲🥲🥲
Cool and awesome video
Happy Birthday dale. Man we miss you here and you are much wanted and needed right now.
Knew the story, didn't know there was actual recordings of it that were saved. Larry Mac has said several times his NASCAR career almost ended at the 98 500 when he almost cussed out Captain Jack.
I'm assuming in the video when Larry Mac has his hand over his mic, and let's out a big sigh is about when he almost cussed Captain Jack out.
That’s what’s missing in the sport today. The sport isn’t as close to the drivers as they used to be. Used to be a big family.
Wow incredible story I had no idea
I kind of figured Dale would have asked. I knew he kind of probably did. This does confirm it.
Greatest day of my life what a memory
"untold stories"? This is one of the toldest story ever
Great story. One story that didn’t get lost.
i was there. Best day in my life. You're deeply missed Dale.
as someone who got to witness Earnhardt in his prime and hated him...he was the best and made you watch.
G day❤
Rest of Peace dale earnhardt sr 🙏
Don't you mean Race in Peace
Love these backstories especially Earnhardt Sr memories
He finally won there after 20 attempts and then died there .. biggest triumph and saddest memory.
Untold, except for the time it was told on the Dale jr download
Was this the only race in NASCAR's history that crews from every team came out to congrats the winning driver???
❤❤❤
Captain Jack calling Sunday Money. You think Bill France ever rode in Dale's boat Sunday Money?
Do it for Dale
Dale Earnhardt legend
The reason behind dale earnhardt spin in the grass is cause at that time, Ron Hornaday was driving for DEI in the trucks and every time he would win, he'd take a spin in the grass to celebrate
Yeah this was around the time donuts and burnouts came into the sport. Jeff Gordon did a few donuts but nothing like dale 98 500 spin in the grass
Nice
Dale Earnhardt Never Wins Daytona 500 From 1979 To 1993 Thanks For Uploading

@@joshpitts7256 Do You Remember 1986 Daytona 500
Gotta get a pit stop, let's see who I can put into the wall and get my stop.
Ready let's Go chase Elliott
Same favoritism is why he had as many haters as fans , Mark Martin is the 1990 champ not Dale. He used his influence all the time.
Wrong Dale is 90 championship
The fix was in, Big E had a larger plate. Nascar has been fixed for a long time. They gave the monte that fake back window when the underbird and Elliott were going 212mph.
Soldberg luck .
I watched it that day, I was very happy for him ✝️🇺🇲
Thought I'd take a spin in the grass and get the good out of it...
