Hey rick steves 😊 I've been in Córdoba on April 2015 and I went inside the mosque-cathedral of Córdoba and it's very majestic. It is also one of the most beautiful cathedral that I've ever seen

While visiting both Cordoba and Granada on a trip a while back, I couldn't help but cry. Such tolerance, beauty, progressiveness, and spiritualism that was unseen in that time period, all gone. Lost in time, forgotten, destroyed... Al-Andalus, you will always be remembered!!!!

Today I read in Spanish news about the discovery of a 1100 year old mosque in Antequera, near Malaga. While most of mosques in Spain were either demolished or transformed into churches, this one has survived nearly intact because a manor house was built on top of the original structure. Despite being in a rural area the building is 1/4 the size of Cordoba’s Great Mosque, which is quite remarkable A foundation, FACNA, has been established to mobilize resources for its restoration. I hope they can manage.

@@presley72149 I think that is different story, the mosque was built on top of a cathedral ruin. On the other hand Hagia Sophia was never built on top of a mosque.
