The guy really is the best extra ever. He sold the fact that he was so inspired by that speech that his salute was intense, it looked like he was mouthing, "YEAH!" through gritted teeth. Great job, nameless extra, great job.

Krisztian5HUN No I disagree with that. The effects here just feel like they were overdone and all the effects in the Independence Day films are a waste of money. I like Sharknado's crazy bad but fun CGI more than these overbudget annoying Independence Day films.

horaciosi It's a reference to Arrested Development. The actress when they say "Her?" is the same one that portrays a character in the AD series, where that phrase is a recurring joke (like most of them in the series). You definitely should watch AD.

Well Screen Junkies guy, we got our sequel and it sucked.
So I take it you went in expecting something more then aliens, explosions and Jeff Goldblum. Because if you did, you may have had the wrong expectations.
Madrock7777 Well i mean they killed off Bill Pullman, one of the greatest movie presidents of all time so that sucks. They also killed Will Smith's wife from the first movie, who was a stripper then but a doctor now so ok. Then there was that crazy scientist who's useless lab assistant got killed. He was the only one who got a memorable death scene which is wrong considering the others who died. The African warlord was just out of place in there, idk why they randomly added him since he didn't do much to further the plot. The story tried to focus on Will Smith's son and Liam Hemsworth but the movie had so many characters, the scenes were unevenly divided that it was hard for me to care about any of them. Also the EMP from the last movie wasn't even brought up so what the hell?
It was actually good and yes I watched the first one!
CH4S Eh i honestly didn't like it at all. Too many characters, not enough scenes among them to make me care about them all, there's also the way they killed some of the good characters. I know that it's their way of passing on the torch but they didn't do it right. I almost wish they don't make a third one.

Fun Fact: During the pandemic, an Argentinian politician copied/pasted the whole speech during an official act praising the public employees who kept working despite the danger. (Un)surprisingly the speech fit the occasion

I've been obsessed with Jeff Goldblum since I first saw Jurassic Park in 1993. Same with my girlfriend. He's our favorite character actor. When we met, one of us brought up Goldblum and we talked all night. We've been together for 15 years now. Thanks Jeff! Love found a way.

Today is July 4, I am going to watch this again. Wish to remember a time when America saves the day and that speech even if it's just from a sci-fi movie gave me goosebumps. To escape the America of today.
"Jeff Golblum as Jeff Goldblum from Jurassic Park" burns pretty hard, but he still amused me.
You need to include the scene where Will Smith knocks out that alien cold with one punch, then tells it "Welcome to earth!" That scene is EPIC, lol!

I saw this one in the theater when it came out and lots more times since then. I remember when the hippy scientist first made his appearance in the film, some people in the theater cheered and I was like 'huh?'. This video just solved that personal mystery. Thank you

Definitely a cool movie. The one thing it needed was a scene of Jeff Goldblum sitting in the Roswell spaceship and fiddling with the controls and saying something like, "Hey, this looks just like Windows!" and somebody else telling him, "Yeah, that's where it came from, we reverse engineered it." That would have explained how he could write the virus and upload it to the mothership.

Well, back during 1996, it's just few years after Soviet Union collapsed, USA was the greatest super power back then. And it's make sense as USA has the largest air force (and still do).
But in all honesty, only super powers countries have significant contribution, like Russia, China, USA; all other smaller countries are basically almost non-factor.
One thing I've noted is that in all these movie versions of alien invasions, the FIRST nation to be assaulted is the one with a military so formidable, and equipped with state of the art technology so advanced, that that nation has a chance of pounding the aliens into the dirt.
You never see the aliens begin their assault of the Earth on Bolivia or Latvia or Turkmenistan, for example.
I feel Waterworld could use a good, honest trailer.

Been rewatching this every year just to listen to that epic speech.
Oh come on, this was one of the best summer blockbuster/alien invasion movies of all time. It took what others in the genre had done and made it more palpable for general audiences.
Watching this trailer makes me want to watch this again... Good job on the trailer guys. This is one of the few movies where the U.S. President wasn't a complete prick.
