I have the old original CZ 452 American and it was one of the first manufacturer's to make a rifle for the 17 HMR ( I use Hornady ammo). My wife knew that I had wanted one of the CZ's in 17 for a few years and she surprised me with it when I was home on leave from Iraq in 2004. Originally I put a Bushnell Banner on it but eventually put a Vortex Diamondback 4-12x40 on it with Vortex rings (in 2006). I don't remember doing much paper shooting with it; just getting it on target at 100 and going from there. My son in law used to take wooden matches and stick them in the top of a styrofoam cooler and shoot the match heads at 100 with my CZ. Then he eventually got enough of his own money and bought his own CZ and ammo. One fun thing was to take half gallon milk jugs full of water and place them at 200 yards. Blew them up real easy. Then, we started placing raw eggs at 200 and that was just a little bit more challenging...not because of the gun or the 17hmr, but because of my lower powered scope, LOL! The last time I had it out about two years ago, I shot a badger on our property at 224 yards (measured it with a range finder). One shot, DRT. I never have put it on a paper target since the original sighting in. Maybe I should.

Sorry I lied...the rings are Millett steel rings.

Keeping in mind 17HMR was never developed as a "target" round and only as a varmint round it does quite well for accuracy. It's probably possible to tighten things up with a tighter chamber spec but I think you find factory ammo dimensions too loose and not worth it. My Volquartsen 17 is capable of minute of golf ball at 125 yards and for me that's plenty accurate. Pdogs still fall victim to it at 200 with ease. Good to see you back putting out videos.

Thanks for watching and commenting… it is definitely a fun cartridge… the area I normally use for practicing has finally started to dry up from all the rain we have had…

Cz makes a great gun. For the price of a cz and the accuracy you cant beat them . Plus its a nice wooden stock i just like the feel of the good old fashioned wooden stocks

Wonder why your second group of 10 shots averaged 110 fps slower than your first. Overall, good shooting. Thanks for the video.

I can only speculate that the ammo is manufactured in mass quantity and so the consistency may not be ideal… my environmentals didn’t change much and unless I suddenly developed an excessive amount of fouling in the barrel those are the only things I can think off the could’ve changed the velocity… thanks for watching and commenting…
