  • Day two of the swap of engines. We pulled the turbo stuff off of my engine, swapped oil pans, exhaust manifolds, transmissions and coolant lines. Then we installed my engine into his truck.

Do you have the exact measurements for the crankshaft position sensor hole, everyone says to check on mazdatrucking.com but it appears the site is down!!
    Thanks for the help!

I've read your fe3 swap post over and over. and i have a few questions.
    1) when i put the crank sensor on, does the engine have to be at Top Dead Center?
    2) i am getting a 2000 kia fe3. how much does the wiring differ from the 1997? because on the post you made a wiring diagram for the 1997 kia fe3.
    3) i am doing most of the work myself. how hard is the swap and whats the most difficult part? im 16 and i have car knowledge. im still fuzzy on wiring.
    4) does the ECU stay in the truck or in the engine bay?
    5) i will be using the kia ECU (to save money) is there any way to improve performance just through the ECU
    6) does the stock kia header fit in the engine bay? i won't have power steering or A/c ( for now)
thanks in advance and i hope you understand and can answer my questions. -Daniel

+Daniel Barsan I can answer you MUCH better if you start a thread on mazdatrucking.com with your swap details. Just easier for me to keep track of different people's swaps and help them through it. Or email me.
ll give you short answers here:
      1) No, it just helps to double check your marks after you drill
      2) the fuse box and power distribution differs a lot. But the 2000+ make it a whole lot easier.
      3) For most, its the wiring
      4) Either, I usually mount it where the mazda ECU was, inside
      5) No
      6) Yes
