For those of us without expensive rigs to capture ourselves this looks like a great way to try out different amps/cabs/setups for not too much money. They have a big user community so I expect there will soon be a wealth of sampled rigs to dowload.
Absolutely! I can't wait to open my store and share them with you all
@@SteveSterlacciwhy not give ‘em out for free
@N.S.A I give a lot out for free. This stuff takes a lot of time and effort to put together. Between set up, dialing in, making the captures, recording the video, editing the video, then uploading it all. I don't think its unfair to ask for a couple of bucks for all the effort that goes into it
@@SteveSterlacci I concur Steve. I know. I just spent a whole day in my studio trying to dial in the “perceived” great tone.
@Steve Kannes its always disheartening when people dont see value in the time put into things and just want everything free. Ill do 1 per pack for free as a teaser for interest though
Exactly!, that's the best way to use the ToneX: Inside the FX loop of a good modeler, that way you can put other FX before or after it, the people who complain about ToneX not having an FX loop miss the point, That rig: HX Stomp and ToneX is the ultimate portable rig!
That brings the loadout to a new level. Lighter, Powerful and flexible. I really like this setup!
A nice pocket rig!
Love the ToneX, but I have been using it with the GT1000 core. I love the ability to run up to three separate signal paths through the GT1000 core, and two effects loops, and trigger each path automatically by frequency (ie, send all high frequencies down one path and low frequencies down a different one) or trigger them via picking dynamics (light picking triggers one path, harder picking down a different path). I haven’t found any other multi-effects units that can automatically switch paths based on those kinds of triggers yet. Very handy.
how can you do that?
Tone X is such a big deal! It’s going to be so amazing in getting to try out rare amps someone else captured and just use the Tone X pedal anywhere!
IK posted Joe Bonamassas Dumble amp. Can it get any cooler?!
Yes, please make a video with the Tonex being controlled with the HX Stomp XL. I have the XL and just got the Tonex pedal. Thanks for making these videos, much appreciated!
Thanks for checking it out! It'll literally be exactly the same as this video. I was trying to film it the other day and I couldn't come up with much to differentiate them 🤣😅
I don’t have any HX products…if you were going to buy one to use with the Tonex, would you use the stomp or stomp XL?
@@D12075 XL always..more buttons and same insides
Should be getting mine today via FedEx and planning on using it the same way as a small travel rig. Super excited about it and thanks for posting this! I'm particularly grateful for the MIDI section!
Thanks Bob! You'll love it. Hope to have earned your sub
You can argue all day how intuitive and how the sound quality compared to other device but you can’t argue the value presented here: $399 for a device that can load captures, an amplitude software and the tonex software with many captures! It is my #1 recommendation for anyone wanting to go to the digital world.
I am an FM9 turbo user and don’t see much use for me but full of appreciation for this amazing product.
absolutely!
This Tone X has definitely peeked my interest, I work in a guitar store here in the UK & can take home any amp, anytime to try out 4cm with my helix! 🤔🥰
Nice! Its like a loan to keep deal! No way to lose
Oh man you could capture the amps in a toneX & never have to buy one! 😂🤚🏼 genius!
@@planzed.2 the perfect life does exist!!!
@@SteveSterlacci oh to dream!
I ordered my Tonex Pedal this morning. When it arrives, I plan to do exactly what you showed here - pair it with my HX Stomp. I also have nice MIDI conrollers, and will use one with this pair as well. If it works out for me, I will add an expression pedal to the mix and build a new board. I plan on starting without captures created by others, but might end up trying to capture my vintage HiWatt. Nobody does the HiWatt right, and I'd love to have my own HiWatt on my pedalboard, along with a bunch of amps I have never owned (AC30 for example). Might be able to do more with the Stomp when it doesn't have to burn DSP on an amp block. Maybe even some of the poly effects (but they are so DSP hungry, probably not).
You better send me that hiwatt capture! I can trade you one lol theyre like baseball cards
I do love the seamless channel switching!
I seriously don’t know anything about midi or how to set any of it up but dig what you were creating.
I am awful at midi and figured it out! LOL its easy once you get it down. very simple process
@@SteveSterlacci As it should be. At least for the basic functions. They really did it well by putting it next to each preset.
Brilliant! This is touching on some of the things I wanted to see. Combining a modeler with Tonex! Many, many thanks!!!
Thanks for checking it out! Hope to have earned your sub
I ordered a ToneX yesterday - this is EXACTLY my plan when I decided to buy it - pair it with the Stomp and send Midi via Snapshots to have the Stomp run the show.
Cool video Steve - THANK YOU for pre-confirming my paradigm! Look forward to further details on refining/optimizing this rig as you uncover it!
Glad to help! youll love this set up. Hope to have earned your sub!
@@SteveSterlacci - although I'm no touring professional - you and I have travelled similar rig journeys over the past several years. I was also a Helix user for a long while - got into the Fractal stuff - QC - now ToneX and see where it is an absolute perfect companion to a Stomp (or HX FX if I had one of those) to create a modular, uber-powerful and GREAT SOUNDING rig!
You've definitely earned my SUB - I appreciate your insight.
I have the O.G. Stomp and a Moskey 2 button switch. I plan to add a Dunlop Mini expression pedal along with the Stomp/ToneX to make effectively a fully functional rig. My thought is to connect the Moskey to the Stomp and the Dunlop Mini to the ToneX (as a volume pedal). I will also use Midi to sync the Stomp/ToneX and use Snapshots as my driver. Do you see any flaws with that approach?
@David Mock thanks David! That will be a killer rig. I have to check if you can assign the "EXT controller " on the tonex to the volume control. If you can, then that is a great idea for a rig. If its just a passive volume pedal, you can also run it in line after or before the tonex. I would do it after in that case so I dont lose any gain when i dial it back
@@SteveSterlacci - Good call out - I typically run my volume at the very end of the chain as a "floor based kill switch". I primarily play at church - and being able to kill the whole signal, if needed, has come in handy a few times when either some trails or "gain hiss" was in the background during an intimate prayer moment... lol #LessonLearned
To be a bit more general - I appreciate your experience based videos on the different products you've tried/are available. Not all of your pros/cons exactly align to mine - but the points you make are well articulated and allow me to bounce that off how I'm approaching my gear and my specific Use Case to make the best choices for me.
... also - that blue Tele is spectacular! :)
@David Mock thanks David! That is exactly how I would suggest someone be with all this stuff. Anything I or anyone else says is just suggestion. Your journey is yours to play out! I am sure you'll nail what you're looking for
Super useful tutorial to see how to set up the midi commands per snapshot. Sounds fantastic Steve, and I can see how Tonex pedal in your pedal chain will be such a game changer and life saver on tour!

Mine was delivered today, but I'm at work eright now and I have an acoustic gig tonight, so I won't be able to do anything tomorrow. That said, thanks for this video Steve, this will help me (and others) greatly.
I hope you get to it soon!!!
Tonex and HXFX would be a killer combo!!
That would be the go to for me. But maybe the XL would be better to serve as a backup rig as well
@@SteveSterlacci one nice thing on the HX FX is the scribble strips and footswitch layout if it had the bigger screen in the center like the pod go it'd be game over. Honestly if line 6 made the helix the pod go size but added the scribble strips, other full features, and routing ect. it'd be ultimate that size is perfect
@@ironblast5 absolutely!
HXFX would offer a better solution imo, scribble strips extra stomps etc
@@lperry65 definitely was thinking that. The amp sim as a backup is nice in the XL
Thanks for making this video, and demoing the connections. This looks like an incredibly powerful pair of two awesome units. The ToneX Amps/Cabs and Captures paired with Line 6 Helix, HX Stomp multitude of Effects, and the stand-alone capabilities of each Unit, has incredible possibilities. Add an Expression Pedal, and the power, versatility, and modularity of such a combination is going to be hard to beat.
If you have a chance, I'd be interested in hearing if there are any changes in tone and volume when the ToneX and HX Stomp are connected to each other, but one of the units is turned off or not sending any signals to the other unit. 😎
The bypass state is pretty normal sounding to me. I bypass to check it in my last video of the tonex before this one
I also want this tonex pedal in the FX loop of my trusty old boss gt 100 for more real amps sound ,cabs and mics..it would be fun
Adding a Pilot/ Worker to the Stomp / XL would be a small footprint to free up the HX foot switches as well. Great video Steve.
Sounds better than any Helix amp. And I'm saying that as a longtime Helix user and still love it.
I have to agree from a feel and listening perspective. I always swear by Helix as you know. But this is a new animal
@@SteveSterlacci Thank you so much for your honesty. That's why we're here. I am so happy about this. I didn't know the Stomp can SEND MIDI commands. Now when I get the Tonex pedal I can't wait to start using it.
Thank you for showing us.
Also, a quick question. If you're switching to an amp that is a different preset than the one that is used at the moment on ToneX, is is still seamless or is there a slight gap? For example if you were on your matchless tone on the first snapshot and then you go to the sound of the second preset on ToneX with the second snapshot.
A $399 pedal (that I paid $299 for because I bought the plugin last year) has replaced my Kemper. Officially. It sounds better with the Camplifier amp that was made for the Kemper than the Kemper does. So happy with this pedal and price point. It should be huge for them.
Thats awesome Eric! I would love to try that Kemper amp with it
yeah for 400 you can upgrade your HX Stomp with the best Capture device available. Kind of Broken if you ask me The Quad Cortex and Kemper might be in trouble
very helpful, just setting this pairing up with camelot pro, makes it much easier having HX switching tonex. thanks for the simple video
Kick Ass as always Steve, a Big Thank You !
Thanks for checking it out 🤘
Tone X is just mind blowing
Its a great machine!
Really awesome tones and very helpful video. Makes me want to strip my board based around the stomp even smaller and add one of these. There are some amps not in Helix that I wish I could replicate better than 75%.
I bought an stomp over a year ago... Everyday I enjoy it even more, I have an external compressor and two overdrives and it is just amazing... Still thinking to build my board around it
Cool set up! I have a Hx Stomp Xl. Id be interested in seeing that with a tonex one👍🏼😊
Awesome setup Steve!!! I'm getting ready to order a Tonex to pair with my Helix and HX Stomp.
Yes, I’d like to see what can be done with the HX Stomp XL and Tonex….I just bought those 2 pieces of gear. Great timing
You know @steve you could have lead with the gapless switching. I'm sold on it.

No genius here. I just fit puzzle pieces together! Thanks Jonathan! Hope to have earned your sub
@@SteveSterlacci Sure buddy.. I love your channel by the way.
I think if I was going to Europe for any extended time, I would bring the full blown helix. Along with the Tonex, then, if anything would happen, I would still have my Helix to fall back on. Plus the Helix has more power to do more things. And you can experiment more with Helix and Tonex. I can’t wait to get a Tonex.
I have the Stomp XL and just order the Tonex wow I guess it give you more processing power on the HX not having to use the amp and Cab
Its a great combo!
Would love to see you integrate this with the Stomp XL as well.
It'd look just like this! Same HX edit screen
@@SteveSterlacci since it has more stomp switches would that change anything in how you might go about using it? Also are you using a MIDI with the 2 devices or just connecting the Tonex to the Stomp via the XLR MIDI connection? Sorry I have never used a MIDI before.

Steve thanks so much for this video. I'm particularly interested in combining or integrating the ToneX into my Stomp rig. I don't know that I'm that interested in profiling, but using good profiles built by others.
I would've done it with the tonex sending the midi to the stomp, that should let you control separate effects with the stomp buttons
I thought about this too. Both set ups would be great, but I wanted to show changing to a preset not in the current "bank" to show the 0 latency switching captures
This is great but I did have to specify the bank for this to work for me.
Thanks for this. I’ve just ordered the ToneX One to go with my HX Stomp. Hoping it arrives in the next few weeks. I’d love to see a video on using it in the FX loop but it has no midi so maybe I should just put a clean sound and crunch on the ToneX and put it between my drives and HX Stomp and not use the FX loop? Really enjoyed the video and will be checking out more of your content.
The ONLY thing preventing me from depending on the hx stomp and Tonex is the combo of the hx stomp/hx effects and their super easy midi programming with touch sensitivity. Line 6 kills it with this! But damn does the former sooo good too!
oh its the same! LOL I would prefer using the HX FX too, but I figure the stomp/XL can also be their own backup rig if the Tonex broke
BRAVO FOR THIS VIDEO!!!!
Thanks George! Hope to have earned your sub

Total game changer!
@@bunfightspecialist4502 that's literally the point. Glad you're understanding 😊

Might have to get one and go thru my HX FX seems like it'd be a pretty killer setup
Hey Steve I love you channel, can you please do a video of the Tonex Pedal and Hx stomp Xl? Thank you..
Thanks Erick! It would be exactly the same as this
My 2¢ suggestion… Would like to see the ToneX with an HX effect & (or) with an Eventide H9 or H90.
If I get an h90 definitely! The HX FX would be the same exact video, just with scribble strips. I thought about making it but it'd be identical 😅
Would be cool to see the ToneX + X-Space + X-Time + X-Vibe demo
Would be an xtreme set up!
Hi! I'm kinda new to guitar playing and all this pedal stuff... recently got the ToneX and I absolutely LOVE it! But I'm still in need of some effects so I'm wondering, what the best addition to the ToneX is. Is the HX Effects in combination with the ToneX a good move?
That would be an amazing move! Hx fx is an industry standard
All of this and yet the best guitarist of all time (SRV) had a wah, fuzz and tube screamer. Probably spent more time playing.
People prefer gear over practice
I’ve taken delivery of a Fractal FM9 and trying it out for 15 days. Amps and cabs are definitely a step above my floor Helix… love those tones!!! HOWEVER, I do not like the FM9 user interface at all, very clunky, back-asswards, and basically a bowl of spaghetti once you drift away from the factory presets. So having been in the simple, user friendly, organized world of HX for 7+ years, I’m thinking Tonex+myHelix might be a better (way cheaper) solution? Since you own an FM9.. what is your opinion of Fractal amps/cabs and what you’re getting from the stock Tonex captures?
Its worth the learning process for fractal if you want to put 10 hours into learning. Tonex will get just as good, if not better raw amp sounds depending on who makes them. Its a toss up! Either way, tonex and helix will be quick for you to adapt to
@@SteveSterlacci - ok, good to know, thanks 👍🏽
Dude! Such awesome gear!! And then sooo poopy headphones lol
They're literally industry standard in every major studio lol why my headphone choice is bothersome to you, i do not understand 😅
@@SteveSterlacci no at all ! I enjoy your content very much! Also I have same one lol just sharing some thought, sometimes we fixed it in amps and guitar and no much on headphones, that's my two cents
My only gripe is the lack of time based effect capture. I made a ton of ambient pad type presets with VST’s I’d love to have in a portable unit
Yay technology!!!
YEP!
this thing just might be the thing I need, I find keeping to the stomp itself is difficult for my needs due to needing the stomp for amps and modulation. External solutions is just too much tap dancing or uber expensive MIDI solutions. This looks fantastic so I can just use the stomp as an FX and Cab sim while the ToneX handles the amps, compression, and dynamics. Definitely gonna put this on my agenda cause it looks huge in terms of convenience.
Also NO MORE NOISE POP switching from gain and clean by using the ToneX rather than Parameter changes via snapshots on the stomps amps, this is HUGE to me as changing presets is simply too slow on the stomp.
My question is if I set up HX command center to change presets on ToneX like we have here but use my JET Micro to swap snapshots on the stomp if it it still recognize that instant command and let me keep the stomp in Stomp mode? Heck, even if it doesn't work I can still use my JET Micro for stomps if I have to.
If so this is huge and will definitely be a cop for me personally as that just makes my board very user friendly in terms of changing presets and such.
Just tested changing snapshots via my JET Mirco and the instants do still indeed apply letting me keep the stomp in Stomp Mode. This is AWESOME and I am now saving for a ToneX in my near future!
Man, my Tonex gets so much hiss when I put it in the FX loop of my Stomp. It's not usable. I must have something wrong. I've tried messing with line/inst setting on the global setting for the differnt FX loops. HX Sounds amazong on it's own. The ToneX sounds amazing on its own. I'm at a loss.
Seamless switching!? Yes!
indeed!
this for me thank you
Glad to help! Hope to have earned your sub
Awesome video! Im wondering, there are 2 chains I can use simultaneously on the hx right? So could I send my guitar signal in both at the same time and use 2 different amps on tonex to create one sound? So playing 2 amps at the same time? Or can I only send one of the 2 Chain signals out at once?
You can send 2 lines out of the stomp, but tonex only supports 1 amp at a time so you'd need a second pedal
Oh right, I could of thought haha. Thanks for your reply mate. Really tempting to buy a hx now. Specially seeing that there is no delay in switching amps on tonex. I really hope they fix that soon. I'm having a hard time getting channel switching right in rehearsal. Bank navigation turned of but it still doesn't feel immediate.
Awesome videos, just found your channel and its been a great experience so far. I have a question about the routing though. Somebody told me that ToneX does not have effects loop in it, so I would like to ask how is everything plugged in your system? Is there some effects in Stomp that really doesn`t sound right without the loop? THanks for the awesome stuff!
Thanks so much for your support! I have the ToneX in the FX loop on the stomp so I can still have stereo FX in post, and use the HX Stomp headphones out as well as my recording interface
I want to see it with the xl!
Plug it straight into pa desk. With a basic recording. So people can here exactly what the units sounds like.
This is directly in as an interface. It is exactly what the unit sounds like
Great video Steve, thank you for making it. I have both units on order. Could you tell me how you are hooking up the audio?
A game changer.
yep!
Steve! Can’t find any shows on Jessica’s website! When are you anywhere near The Netherlands??
Hey Franc! We are announcing this week. Closest we are getting is Germany probably =(
Thanks for the video. I have a question and I would like to know what you would recommend. If in a new Helix preset I put an FXLoop block and in that loop I put my Tonex Pedal the output volume is very different from the output volume using only the Tonex Pedal. I would like to get it to be the same. What settings do you recommend for both the FxLoop block and the Tonex Pedal (if necessary) to achieve the same volume? What I'm looking for is that they sound exactly the same considering that at the moment they don't have any more blocks in the chain in Helix.
Thank you from Spain.
Hello Spain! Make sure tonex pedal is up to date since they fixed the input issues. I would adjust the return level. If gain is off, adjust the send. If its just volume, adjust the return
Hi Steve;
You have a great channel and I learn so much from you, thanks for all the effort!
I have a question though;
Comparing these two units I feel like the dynamic range is less in hx stomp. So I’ve been thinking to use tonex in front of hx stomps input, not from the fx loop. That way I might have all 8 blocks of hx and most important, the signal goes directly to tonex and I can get the best possible dynamic response for my playing nuances.
Since everyone is talking about using tonex in the fx loop of hx stomp, is there anything that I’m missing?
If you're only using it for post amp fx, then sure. The fx loop lets you put drive pedal models in front as well as stereo "outboard" fx after the amp
Great video. How does the latency using an HX Stomp compare to a ToneX and a traditional pedal board? I think the HX Stomp alone is around 2 ms. I was going to buy the Headrush Prime but after watching a few of your videos I'm rethinking.
Great video! Just got introduced to your channel a month ago. I generally play at church in the mornings either with EG or AG. How would you compare this setup (hx stomp + tonex) vs. an AIO like the helix LT/Floor for weekly sets?
Thanks for checking it out and welcome aboard. For what its worth, I use the HX XL alone when I tour. I always prefer the all in one units so less can go wrong. But, either will sound as good as you can make them. An LT will probably give more options
Awesome video dude, thanks for the explanation. I got my tonex a month ago and I have issues with a delay in changing presets on the tonex. I hit the switch and it takes a few ms to open the next preset. Does a midi cotroller fix the issue? Thankful for any tipps. 🙏
Steve, thanks so much for posting this! Question...with the FX Loop block, are you using "Line" or "Instrument" on the Input, Output, and Send/Return1 levels?
Always instrument for fx in a loop unless they are studio grade rack mounts that want line level
Great video! Very informative!! How do we get your SLO captures?
Thanks for reviewing your setup. Btw, how you capture your amps? This is very interesting for me, cause I have many tube amps. Thanks
Thanks for checking it out. I'll do a vid on it eventually, but its 2 mics, warm audio mic pre's, blend them in my DAW, use a single mono send to the capture device
Did you consider using the 3 footswitches on the TONE X to control your 3 main sounds (snapshots) on the HELIX and using the footswitches on the STOMP to switch effects on and off? I assume that when the STOMP can control the TONE X via MIDI it might also work the other way around....but that is just an assumption. Would be cool though cause then you'd have 3 extra footswitches to assign stuff to.
Absolutely works that way too! Was thinking of doing that for a video
@Steve Sterlacci you should!
@@SteveSterlacci Yes please do a video on this!!!
So the Tonex is in the FX loop of the HX. Do you use the cab IR from the tonex or is the cab baked in the tonex capture? Is the HX sending instrument or live level to/ from the Tonex?
Thx for your nice Videos. Do you see any Chance to include two Tonex amps in one snap shot of the helix via FX Loops?
Hey Steve, could you not just have used your Quad Cortex to capture your rig and add/change your effects and captures with scene changes? Seems like a good solution rather than buy a ToneX and add midi controls for your touring. I guess if you did not have a Quad Cortex and wanted to add captures to your pedal set up it is a viable solution, but not as effective as just using the QC that does it all. Just saying'. Good demo of the new ToneX box though. Cheers.
Hey John! I personally still dislike gigging with the quad cortex. Making adjustments is still a problem on the fly and the power supply definitely worry me long term if I were to take it on our next tour. We still need a more flexible hybrid mode and parameter assignments to footswitches. Its closer, but still not there for me.
I just filmed a comparison of the 2 captures under the same conditions too. It'll be out tomorrow
@@SteveSterlacci Hi Steve, OK, I see that you have some issues with QC that you feel are not an issue when using HX Stomp. The QC power supply is an easy fix as I bought a more robust one for $20 Cdn. that works great. I suspect you may find other features missing with the HX Stomp and ToneX that will come up once you get some experience gigging with it. Hope it works out for you and please give us an update after your tour to let us know if you still feel it is a superior solution. Best Regards,
I would like to know if the Tonex pedal must be put into an fx loop in the Tonex - Line6 combination?
Is the solution that guitar-Tonex in, Tonex out - Line6 in, Line6 stereo output to mixer is not functional? Several people write the fx loop solution, I'm just trying to understand what the reason might be?
Thank you in advance for your answer!
Funny, a friend of mine played with Jessica Lynn. So you mean you can only do this with 3 presets total and that's it? Or can you have multiple banks?
I'd like to see how tonex being linked to hx fx. Hx fx being the effects, whilst tonex serves as the amp modeling function (which is not available in hx fx)
it would be literally the identical set up to this. I Was going to do it using the HX FX. but I use my HX Stomp as my interface, so it just made life easier
This is fantastic Steve. I am about to bite the bullet on a tone x. My church takes a stereo signal- stupid question- how do I ensure getting stereo amp signal utilizing hx stomp. Is it as simple as making the send/receive block stereo?
I use a mono send to the ToneX, then make sure your blocks are stereo in the HX all the way to the end of the chain and you will be golden
Would this work well with the POD Go as well I wonder? For those of us on a limited budget
Absolutely! Just use the fx loop
This is what I was wondering I will just disable the amp on the line 6, use the Tonex amp model and load the corresponding cab ir from tone x into the line 6 that way I can have the pre and after effects.
I just bought the Tonex pedal for a traveling rig, and I’m trying to figure out which way to will go..
I have a bunch of pedals including an H9 Max, a DD500, and a variety of too much to name. a Quad Cortex, and an HX Effects…
I need to find some midi cables and get started
Cant wait to get the tone x, I switched to the hx stomp from a kemper for the form factor and because I didn’t need a power amp, but it took some time for me to get used to the sound of line 6’s amp models, I enjoyed the “profiling” aspect of the kemper because even tho it was difficult to find profiles I loved, when I found them I played more than what I tweaked. Hoping a similar experience with the tone x. On another subject, have you tried amplitube 5? I’ve been using the free version and testing their amps and cabs and I’ve struggled with it, I don’t know if it is that I’m used to line 6 amp models and I need more time finding the right cab/mic setup.
I have used it, but not extensively. I use the floorboards most. Sorry to not be of any help there
I can barely get a decent sounding patch outta my stomp, there’s no way I could do this advanced stuff😳
Nothing advanced about it. Just a couple of cables and 3 clicks lol I show the exact steps and it takes no time! Thanks for checking it out, hope to have earned your sub
How about matching tonex with TC G-System, HX Effects or older pro line6 gear - POD XT pro, POD X3 live, Firehawk? That would be a second live for older processors (w/midi) maybe?
Do you think TONEX is worth it just to save DSP and is it somehow better than the helix? I am contemplating of buying a separate amp/cab pedal like this or the IRX or the UAFX.
Steve, great video man! I wanted to see if you've been successful in controlling the HX stomp using the Tonex pedal? Lots of mixed signals out there if this would actually work or not. Some people say the Tonex doesn't send midi from the unit itself, but on the Tonex page it says it does. Was hoping to control snapshots on my HX Stomp XL with the ABC switches on the Tonex. Then I planned on running the HX in Stomp mode for 6 different stomps. Have you given this method a shot, or possibly shed some light on this?
I was also under the impression it could send midi, but after studying the manual and confirming with my rep, it does not send midi
@@SteveSterlacci Thanks for the speedy reply brother, glad I can put that idea to bed. Looks like the HX Stomp will be controlling things!
@@Sgwoodley its a great midi controller in its own right. Command center makes everything super easy
So the price of an FM3.... I think id prefer this.
If you have a workhorse to handle your FX, definitely
Recently purchased the Tonex Pedal I did all the proper things register the pedal, and downloaded the Tonex & Amplitude app got it registered. Then I tried to download an amp profile so I can use it on my Tonex Pedal and I wasn't able to it gave me no access. It also kept saying to make sure I have a verified account. Which is what I did at the very beginning. This has been very frustrating.
Is there a tutorial on youtube or pdf file with instructions?
sorry but to make it perfect you need to add the H 90! Then I think it‘s the perfect rig!
Oh heck yes! I should have one in a month or so
Good morning,
I am French forgive my translation.
I will invest in a Tone X and a HX Stomp.
Could you advise me on the connections to make to use the Tone X with the HX Stomp to take advantage of these effects, and send everything to my audio interface.
Thanks for your help
Bonjour! It is very easy. HX Stomp FX Send to Tonex. Tonex Output to FX Return L
@@SteveSterlacci 🙏
Hello great video,
What about create a patch in the HX that have the effects I want and also tell to Tonex what bank and tone ABC I want ?
Hey Andy! It should work the same as it does in this video. Thanks!
@@SteveSterlacci thanks , I dont have the HX stomp, I have the tonex and an old Digitech RP1000, but I plan to upgrade the RP1000 with HX or Boss pedalboard So, you create Snapshoots in the same way as when you create a patch? If this is possible you will have like a Kemper with a Tonex and a HX Stomp on the low budget way.
Steve, have you used the Tonex through a power amp and real cab?
Hey Dylan! I have not yet. But i do plan on using my Blackstar Amped 1 for just that
@@SteveSterlacci Funny you mention that. I just got the Amped 1 and used it w the HX Stomp at rehearsal. I loved it but I'm thinking the Tonex would be a great addition if it had the same awesomeness into the Amped 1. I'm not a huge fan of the HX Fender sounds. For me the HX Marshall sounds are totally amazing
@dylanthomas389 gotta try a bunch of the amps. I like the tweed blues brt, and the princess as the only ones I like fender wise! Tonex will be a killer addition to the rig
hi steve, thanks for the video :-) a question considering the "feel/interaction" under the finger, do you consider the tone x as good (better ?) as the quad cortex on this point ? thank you
Hello! Thanks for watching. Its hard to tell. They feel the same IMO
