As someone who works in a chiropractic office, I can confirm that stretching out upside down like that (so long as you don't fall on your head of course or stay there for more than ~15 minutes) is very helpful for making sure your spinal discs decompress and stretch out again. Great for longterm spinal care. Also, the table that Steven was thinking of (at least, the 'medical' version) is called an Inversion Table.
