Really glad you brought up the community engagement of the dev team on discord and the forums. I think it's a strength of the team that they're passionate enough to spend a good amount of time on there. Even on Sunday evenings. My experience was getting it as a tech demo and early taste of what it'll be like. Then being surprised to find it's actually already a functional sim. I think I've been lucky in terms of bugs because it's been pretty solid for me. Had a single crash after race finish (which still counted results). Also occasionally get worrying pauses when joining a session. But other than that it is bloody brilliant I think. Never had so much fun in a sim. There's definitely still work to be done and I wish them luck in progressing it while also being smashed by community comments.
The early access of LMU definitely seems better than ACC was at this point 😌 My biggest concern is the UI, the same issues I had w/ RF2, just generally hard to set up & buttons reassigning themselves sometimes mid race. Those frequent problems is why I didn't play it much & didn't buy any DLC. I'll seriously consider getting LMU if it's UI's functionality & user friendliness gets to similar level as AMS2 & R3E.
I'd say its already at R3E level for sure, R3E awful rotation issues with wheels where always a pain to sort, nothing like that in LMU. If you've an interest in WEC, don't let the UI put you off, aside from the lag element its pretty good to use and intuitive to where to click to do what. The online experience is pretty neat, so if you like WEC and want some Online action with special events and what not I'd say give it a go, making use of the 2 hour steam refund option if you're one of the unlucky ones and the game hates your system because "reasons". Which does seem a real issue with a few unlucky users.
Steam users charts don’t lie. Here we are in its second weekend and it’s got more users than RF2 and AMS2 combined. It’s great to see because WEC and IMSA are my two favourite series to watch on tv. Was also awesome to see the huge advertising of LMU on the start finish straight stands at the Qatar race today. This game will be great for both sim racing and the WEC series, because 2024 is going to be an amazing year for endurance racing, especially as F1 is now a complete snooze fest.
The Sunday 8PM Split for Le Mans Special event had a UI Bug which meant the event wouldnt show if you backed out of the menu and rejoined the page after the server had started
Yer I followed it on the official discord. I reckon if you are doing a special event its best to clear room for 2 splits just in case one of them fails. However this weekends Monza appears to have gone a lot smoother than the Le Mans first test.
this is proof that MSG is barely the publishers and that S397 is behind absolutely everything for this game. something that most people still don't understand. it's not like Electronic Arts where they've completely merged Codemasters under their name
I have done a fair few laps and I like the racing and I think there's potential. A couple of things do niggle me, but I'm sure I will get there in the end. One thing, FFB for my old G25 wheel is not feeling great. I can't put my finger on it, so I'll keep tweaking. No doubt I'll grab someone else's settings once it's been out a bit longer. Second thing, the AI is great at racing, but for some reason when I get a faster class car behind me, if I get slightly close to them round a corner they punt me off track lol. Third thing is the blue tint to everything when driving at night, I'm not a fan. Lastly it's the lack of VR - but let's remember it's early access, so not a huge issue. Overall though I think it has a lot of potential.
Hey Jimbo good to hear. For the VR there is a VR community tweak you can do to add it. I havnt noticed the blue tint at night but some cars I think have blue lights so could it just be that?
The FFB is insane. Very impressed. Many were betting(hopinh?) this release would be a disaster. It is not. You owe it to yourself, as a virtual motorsports fan, to get in on this and watch it evolve.
Agreed, I have been loving the title even in Early Access and with all the bugs. So long as you're happy with Early Access, understand what that is then I would certainly say go for it to any sim racer interested in the WEC Cars.
I the only problem I Have are the slow menus. The truth is that I don't understand how a pc game is like the lottery, that it works for some and not for others
it comes down to CPU, GPU, Ram and SSD drives. Some peoples gear is just better, for example 2 of the same people can have the 4090 video card but 1 guy is running 16-32 gigs of ram but the 2nd guy that's running 64 gigs of ram is not having as many issues as others. Just 1 example.
The slow menus is perhaps the most early access thing that's most in my face when I use it. Clicking something and then learning to wait is very much on my mind rather than continue clicking knowing that from a tech pov each click is still gonna be registered,... at some point lol
Hi there Mr Bloom I really like it I'm converted I think now and even tho vr is not officially supported the work around tree CK works really great albeit there's no hud in vr at the mo who cares great early access beta great start this one is a gem 🎉
That is awesome to hear that even with the VR mod workaround you've enjoyed it enough to get hooked already! Not bad at all for for you is very early access with early access VR bolted on hehe. Which cars you finding you're enjoying the most so far?
@@lewisbloom my fav is Ferrari gte but I have had a blast in the lmp today, this LMU is so damn good I can't turn it off lol 🤣 nice racing in SIM racers arms lobby with you the other day Lewis been a while
Like it so far. Usually I race in VR but I've adapted to flatscreen for now. All the basics are in place. Lots of rough edges, but I work in software so I actually know what early access means. They;'ve already nailed the really hard stuff, like physics and online, so they just need to keep going. I see this as potentially another ACC...highly specialised and good at what it does. I think we need more of those and it makes me a bit sad that they couldn't have done this with the BTCC title..
You're thinking is pretty much same as mine, 20year wait for some of my friends for a WEC sim again lol. Ill take early access rough edges if the devs continue being so responsive and communicative
Plus some believe it's rushed due to licensing terms and conditions. It is possible they had to release the game with the content for the 2023 WEC season, before the 2024 season in reallife starts
Aye its been confirmed its coming by the devs but in the meantime the ever resourceful community already have it working and the VR userbase seems to be growing lol.
I'd suggest those who think its been rushed are possibly also those who don't know what Early Access is, or for some reason add there own arbitrary status of development a game has to be before it goes early access.
I believe such things are coming, check out Roy's video on how the use the replay stuff already hidden away in the game. Its just not polished, finished and presented to the user yet.

Agreed, I have been quite lucky too with it so far, and been loving it even in its very early access state.

Me personally, even with it being early access, I truly enjoy the title. With that said I understand what early access means.
Me too, I am loving the driving experience so much. Also WEC finally after 20+ years back in the game world hehe
this is proof that MSG is barely the publishers and that S397 is behind absolutely everything for this game. something that most people still don't understand. it's not like Electronic Arts where they've completely merged Codemasters under their name
Similar feelings for me too.

@@lewisbloom not sure mate, I'll have to experiment. Maybe it was the car I was in.
Overall good, I understand as early access it won't be perfect
Yup for me the Pro's of the experience out weigh the Con's on the scale
Iv been enjoying it.
Runs a bit hotter then rf2.
I enjoy all the cars and tracks.
I'm there for the multiplayer and it's running well
Good to hear, I am pretty much the same. Running ok, issues not too crazy for me and enjoyable enough to overcome the negatives thus far.

Yes even taking hardware out the mass differences in software, drivers and how its setup and configurated can make a different too.

I tried it. It wasn't very good. I'll wait until they add it to the sim.
fair shout for VR users for sure@@talon1706

My interest was peaked until I found out it doesn't support VR natively. Early access or rushed to beat the AC2 launch?
No released so they can get more funds to develop it more. Very smart and welcomed move I think.

Really needs better camera angles
