    after watching this, I see why it is important to sleep well. Going through the start procedures when you are tired can turn into a bad situation.

    Old vid now but good instructor, I like how he teaches the SOPs behind a startup too, can tell he flew in the real world not just a flight school.

    When testing the “Brake De-Ice” watch for a rise in ITT when you select the switch to on and also watch for an ITT decrease when you select the “Brake De-Ice” off. That way you can confirm that the bleed air valve is opening and closing.

    Ive never heard of turning off the generator before starting the second engine and turning it back on during the second engine start.

    • @s4aviator804
      @s4aviator804 Před 7 lety +2

      Sal, some generators have a load limitation that determines how they can be used to assist a start. In the King Air, the initial load of the starter engaging shouldn't be placed on the generator, but after the starter has been engaged, the generator can be turned on to assist with the remainder of the start. In some turbine aircraft, the generators can be used to assist the entire start, whereas in others, the generators cannot be used at all to assist a start.

    • @Banshee365
      @Banshee365 Před 7 lety +1

      Sal L The reason is that you can blow a current limiter (big fuse) from the big initial hit of the starter. Once it's past the initial hit the generator can be turned on again to assist the start. Generator assists straits start considerably cooler than battery starts. Later serial number 200's have generator control units that do this for you so you don't have to cycle the gen off and on again.

    • @dcrea9416
      @dcrea9416 Před 5 lety +1

      It's because there is a chance of blowing the current limiter under the forward cabin center aisle floor. I'm an Avionics tech on these...I have had to go replace the current limiter when the plane was off site and the pilot started #1 engine with the #2 generator on.

    • @whyteflyte76
      @whyteflyte76  Před 6 lety +2

      Number 2 is clear, no plugs, no ties. It’s just a last minute visual check of the prop and engine before starting.

    @Bugy34 Před 6 lety +1

    it's nice to watch but honestly that's not the future of aviation....very old fashion plane actually, good for a museum today. Im an airbus pilot, so obviously the engine procedure is much more easier, even a kid can do it lol but that's the future.

    • @stevehanes6790
      @stevehanes6790 Před 6 lety

      Crush Admin I’m with you. Flew the military version (C-12) which only had a different paint job. This is a very old 200. We had glass HSI and our start up was WAY less complex.

    • @pilot2906
      @pilot2906 Před 5 lety +2

      I have an A320 TR..and understand what youre saying...but...bush flying in Africa where I am..The King air in its various forms is KING!

    • @massimodalessandro9259
      @massimodalessandro9259 Před 5 lety +3

      So the majority of the King Airs out there today should just be scrapped? I’d be much more at ease flying with a museum pilot than the “future” pilot.
