Transform Seeds into Nutritious Ingredients ~ How & Why You Should Always Soak Seeds and Nuts

  • Long ago humans had to spend hours foraging for a few handful of seeds in the wild. These days we can simply head to the store and buy a handful of seeds with very little effort on our part.
I am really glad to live in a world where diverse ingredients are so accessible. But, something really, really important has been lost in the evolution of agriculture and nutrition. Recipes for nut milk and vegan cheeses so often include seeds raw and unsoaked. Such minimal processing is very likely to lead to indigestion and hours of discomfort ~ seeds simply aren't digestible without soaking first and in this video I share how I process seeds, legumes, and grains for maximum health.

Thanks for the information. I have recently heard about soaking and it was, of course, a new concept to me! Your clear explanation is appreciated. What is your opinion on oats? If soaked will they just be a sludge mush, which cannot be drained??
You have a lovely healthy glow, which backs up what you explain. 😊

Oh you are so nice! thanks for this kind comment. I think that soaking oats is a great idea! There are so many different kinds of oats, so I wonder if you are using instant oats or whole rolled oats?
If you are trying to make granola I think using rolled oats is best, I would suggest soaking them for a few hours (or overnight) in a jar and then draining out the excess water in by tipping the jar over with a sieve to separate the liquid from the oats. Then you can roast them on a cookie sheet in the oven or just make oatmeal with them, your choice!

@@Calendula_Craft thanks for the advice. No, I'm not using instant oats. The pack says: "wholegrain organic porridge oats"

What is your opinion on grinding seeds (ie pumpkin, sunflower, sesame, flax etc) for better absorption into the body?

I also would like to know your opinion on this 🙏

I am a big fan of grinding seeds IF they are first soaked and toasted. I love making pesto with pumpkin seeds (the green ones aka pepitas).
I agree that grinding seeds helps the body to better absorb their nutrients and if they are also soaked previously, even better!!
