This song has one of my favorite lines of all time: “it’s harder to light a candle easier to curse the dark instead”. My mantra for life. If life throws you shit, you can sit there and grumble about it or you can try to find a solution/make the best of it.
Nuff Said !!!!
NWSU 🤘😎🤘.
Next stop Tampere/Wembley or the latest Hellfest 2022!
I love that line also....the genius of Tuomas
Tricksters and Magicians show you what is real.
Love that!!! ❤️
i concur
And that All after 2h playing- not missing 1note[ the whole band] This is ART!!! + No Autotune!❤
Wembley 2015 is the natural next place to go.... starting with Shudder Before the Beautiful. There will of course be some duplicates from Wacken that you can skip along the way. Maybe first an interlude..... Nightwish's tribute to Pink Floyd's High Hopes (I know, I know.... you may remember me pushing this one quite a bit 🤣)
I concur
I strongly concure. Wembley 2015 next.
Yes!
The DVD did indeed kick ass. Nearly a decade and still finding more people with this awesome event.
Is there a single song out there that has introduced its band to more people AROUND THE WORLD, than Ghost Love Score from THIS show?
for sure
The Wacken concert has gone down in history as one of the best concerts ever, They caught all of the energy of the band perfectly, The DVD is probably the best live recording ever. I love the energy of Last Ride Of The Day.
One you need to see has to be I want my tears back from Buenos Aires in 2018 also the dual tracks of Elvenpath and Elvenjig, the energy for all of them is off the chart and Floor just looks like she is having the best time ever dancing and playing with the audience.
Pretty much any track from their Live DVDs is worth watching, High Hopes from the End of an Era DVD is a true magical moment with Marko taking the lead
It’s hard to pick as the catalogue of great songs is vast. I agree with Poet from Wembley. It’s a must. Also Shudder Before the Beautiful from the same concert. It’s a lesson to other bands on how to open a show.
Yep definitely.
The opening song has grab you by the balls.
Beng.
Great way to end a concert! Now check out the 2018 Decades tour in Buenos Aires!
Watch These 2 Epic Masterpieces 1st is THE POET AND THE PENDULUM ( research why it was written ) 2nd Masterpiece is THE GREATEST SHOW ON EARTH By NIGHTWISH .. Nightwish Disciple Forever From Queensland Australia 🇦🇺🏄♂️🏖
One of the best concert DVDs out there. Yes it totally "kicks ass".
I've been reading a few comments and I agree with a number of people who suggest Wembley as the natural progression for your Nightwish journey. 'Shudder before the Beautiful' is the opener followed by the equally powerful 'Your's is an Empty Hope' , which contains a very surprising element! Or maybe if you want to dip your toe into the past, I highly recommend the tributes to Pink Floyd and Lloyd Webber - 'High Hopes' and 'Phantom of the Opera' both of which come from the 'End of an Era' concert DVD which have to be seen to be believed - can you imagine a band SO into a song that they just become more sublime as the song progresses almost achieving perfection - THAT'S High Hopes Jeff! Incidentally , Marko has never shone so well vocally than he did at this show! If you want to see Annette - and as it is coming up to Halloween - I heartily recommend 'Scaretale' which I'm sure you'll find exhilarating purely because of how different it is! I'm very much enjoying your reactions and it's a pleasure to see your face light up at the precise moments we all knew it would 😉, take good care of yourself 😃
NOW you are ready for the "NIGHTWISH - The Poet And The Pendulum" song Live from Wembley London 2015 Concert (the next world Tour after Wacken 2013). This is one of the three biggest NW songs in there (Ghost Love Score AND Greatest Show on Earth being the two other ones). This song is written in the after match of firing the 1st Singer Tarja after the last show on 2005 World Tour and the turmoil and depression Tuomas felt on and is a both very Personal and an Emotional Roller coaster Masterpiece of a song! Gotta react/hear on song from any Nightwish song lists! Search for the subtitles and HD version. This is also a Music Theatre or a Movie play type performance to watch the band perform this art piece..
TPATP Wembley is a MUST
Four!!!! Dead Boys Poem.
I concur
Ohhhh yes ; ) Make it so.
I concur!
That smile at 6:31 fills me with joy every time I see it. It was the last concert on Floors first tour with the band and it the smile of someone who knows that they gave it all and NAILED it :)
Nightwish - High Hopes, give me some thumbs guys!
How I wish they would come to Austin Texas!!! Even if I had to rent an electric scooter to go into the show...I would! ( I have two severely injured Lumbar vertebrae, and I can barely walk 1 or 2 steps without collapsing. )
I was lucky enough to get tickets for The Rolling Stones Voodoo Lounge Tour...Brian Adams was the opening act!! It was in December, it was in the mid 30's...and it was a college football stadium, and they sold all 70,000 tickets! They were incredible...I never thought I would ever see a concert as amazing but, Nightwish Tops them all!
Quick trip to earlier days of Nightwish: High Hopes live (Pink Floyd cover/tribute). This is the Tarja era, but this song is just Marco singing. Emppu does David Gilmore much honor with his playing.
This from End of An Era live Helsinki 2005
That is one hell of a way to end a show!!!!! You can feel the energy there was in both the crowd and on stage! Loved this tune!!!! Love these guys!!!! 🤯🎸🤘🏼
If we were in the audience we would have been jumping up and down the whole time 😂🤣😂
@@StrateleStudios yessss yessss we would!!!!
They should keep have kept it as the show closer for the following tour! To me, it works better than The Greatest Show On Earth
@@alexandre_am At Tampere, TGSoE had to be last for reasons that will be forthcoming…
I suggest the the opener from the 2015 Wembley concert.
Shudder before the beautiful.
And I enjoyed seeing this concert with you.
You’re a great person and probably a great musician.
Very positive minded, I like that.
I concur
I concur
i concur
I concur.
Thank you my friend! 😊😊😊🫶
Now you need to react to the entire concert from Tampere Finland in 2015. Just as epic as Wacken 2013.
Islander
Wow, only true fans are watching this footage to the very end ❤😍
Mac!!! You’re so right, I couldn’t leave 😢
@@StrateleStudios THe last 3 albums and tours have had great outros that are worth watching.
One of the best choruses in music. "It is hard to light a candle, easier to curse the dark instead." So spot on and good advice for all of us. When I saw them live in Boston the end of the concert was Last Ride of the Day, Ghost Love Score. Greatest Show on Earth, and Ad Astra during the outro. An incredible uplifting and hopeful message and feeling. Never left a concert with so much positive energy and a desire to make the world a better place.
I would love to see you do a playthrough of Human Nature. Because of the pandemic they couldn't tour in support of the album so there are lyric videos for all the songs on disc 1 except Noise which has an official music video. Disc 2 is a gorgeous 30 minute orchestral piece composed by Tuomas in 8 movements. There is a beautiful video made by Sensei Music Videos for the song that Has been blessed by Tuomas and the band. The last movement, Ad Astra, is the show ender/outro for their current tour.
Been to many concerts in my long life never seen anything like the so much talent God bless
Nightwish and Floor are so humble
What helped me "accept" Kai and Jukka was that Marko and Jukka had no other choice but to resign. They had to choose between their career and their health.
So, no what if or I wish. No choice.
And Jukka and Kai were nice enough to help out.
I love that! ❤️
The stamina they have to go soooo hard all night and still have their voice at the last song. Wowee...
The greatest show on earth and The poet and the pendulum is coming closer. Hell yeah.
I’ll say this again
Wacken 2013 concert
Best Nightwish concert by quite a margin. Not one bathroom break song. All so amazingly awesome 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
👏👏👏❤️❤️❤️
I would say it might be one of the best concerts ever, period! Not just Nightwish.
The northern sun shining bright on the sky is not that fun aspect of the Tampere concert, but they make up for it and the ending is when it's dark :)
Shudder before the beautiful, Wmbley opener!
Now that you finished Wacken 2013, I would go back to ”I want my tears back” live in Buenos Aires. It makes me want to travel to Argentina to see Nightwish (I am a Finn). The crowd is just epic. Well worth a watch.
Nightwish has been ending their concerts in the more recent tours with the Greatest Show on Earth, which is a worthy finish. Many recommend the Tampere version for the fireworks. Personally I think the Wembley 2015 is way better; more intimate, excellent production value, the crowd, and professor Dawkins as the icing on the cake. I would strongly recommend Wembley Arena over Tampere, despite my heritage.
The full Wembley 2015 show, then the full Tampere 2015 show, then the full Buenos Aires 2018 show. These shows have one thing in common: they are recorded by Nightwish technicians, giving you that “almost too perfect for a live performance” vibe. Do not go for the festivals like Hellfest or Deichbrand as the mix is a festival one during a live stream. Last suggestion: the virtual double “green room” show they did during COVID, kind of live as they recorded only 20 min or so before sending.
Nightwish - Alpenglow, live at Mexico City. A happy song. Can't go wrong
Each time I watched the entire concert from start to finish, I get a little emotional at the end. Amazing how it always makes me feel like I was there in person.
I know how you feel! 🥹
This song was inspired by roller coaster rides, and is usually played at ,or near, the end of the set. This is just a fun song.
They stay on stage a good bit longer after the Tampere 2015 and Wembley 2015 shows( last song there is The Greatest Show On Earth)
As for what's next, depends on which singer you would like to listen to:
Floor: 7 Days to the Wolves, Yours is an Empty Hope(Wembley2015), Weak Fantasy(Tampere2015),or Shoemaker (Deichbrand or Hellfest 2022)
Tarja: Wishmaster, The Siren, Sleeping Sun, cover of Phantom of the Opera. All from 2005 Helsinki (End of an Era)
Anette: Amaranth music video, Slow Love Slow (Montreux Jazz festival), Eva, Meadows of Heaven ,Scaretale. Not many good live with her.
Marko: The Islander (Tamper 2015) While Your Lips Are Still Red (Wembley 2015) , cover/tribute of Pink Floyd's High Hopes (End of an Era)
Kai will be in shows 2014 and later, Jukka Koskinen on bass 2021 and later. Sami Vanska on bass '98-'01
Greetings from UK
A great reaction, thank you 😊
It is amazing that they had so much energy left for this song
Thank you Mark! 😊
I'd recommend swapping between Wembly and Tampere with the last watch of the two combined concerts being The Greatest Show on Earth from Tampere.
The two songs I want playing when I finally kick it.....this one and Meadows of Heaven
As a new subscriber who has watched a hell of a lot of the band I think a really magnificent follow up would be Yours is an empty hope from their Wembley concert, it includes Floor in low growls mode and is amazingly good!
Your reactions to Nightwish so far have been excellent and very well thought out. Your experience in the industry is obviously very good and your experience of the instruments use obvious! Keep them coming, they are much appreciated!
It was so good to see Floor so well accepted on this concert, bear it in mind that she only had 48 hours to learn the set!
Thats the way to end concert!🤘👍🇫🇮
Yes!!! 👏👏👏🎊🎉❤️
Oooooh….. I ❤ them….
Now for the Decades Live at Buenos Aires 2018 show!!! LOL
I see a few suggestions for the 2018 Decades tour in Buenos Aires…I think that’s a great idea!
Thanks for doing this, Jeff. I really enjoyed watching it with you!
If you're up for another concert, I highly recommend the Tampere show. It's their home turf, Floor's parents are there, and it's a phenomenal set, with perhaps the best closing performance ever.
absolutely
I concur! And you get songs written specifically for Floor, which you don't at Wacken.
Yep we’re so glad as well 👍. Personally I would to see you react to their buenes aires concert2018/2019. So many new songs you haven’t heard and a glorious production
For me one of the best concert performances I've ever seen! Only rivaled by some of their other concerts like Tampere & Wembley 2015.
This was 9 years ago and Floor's first festival concert, I believe. In the 2022 shows Last Ride of The Day is mid setlist. Now that she is the master of TGSOE that will be their finale, I would assume, as long as they are together. As it should be. It was epic in Los Angeles both nights.
imho you should start a new concert....either Wembley 2015 or Buenos Aires 2018. 🔥
My suggestion for next Nightwish. The documentary of making of shudder before the beautiful.
‼️And now the opener of Wembley 2015 (Shudder before the beautiful) ‼️ And thx for a fantastic Wacken-Nightwish-Journey… 🏆👍🚀
They know how to start and to finish and everything in between 🤘🤘🤘🤘
I would do Buenos Aires
Such an incredible high! This is such a banging song I didn't notice for ages how deep the lyrics are. The perfect song for the times we live in, with the climate crisis and social disintegration - make sure you check them out (lyric listings that skip the repetition of the chorus can be read like poetry, it's beautiful).
If you want another full concert next, go for Tampere. If you want to try a few with other singers first, The Phantom of the Opera Official Live (from End of an Era) is a classic Tarja/Marko duet, and Slow Love Slow live at Montreux Jazz Festival 2012 shows off Anette's abilities very well. (Anette really shines in the studio, often using multiple layers, but most people like to see NW live performances so I always recommend this).
Wembley 2015 is the next then Tampere. but seriously Shudder before the beautiful from Wembley and song 2 Yours is an empty hope are well worth it.
The other players are very good, but I too, am kind of locked in to this line up. You'll enjoy the new and old stuff. "Phantom of the Opera" is a great one to see Tarja, and "Scaretale" is a great song with Annette.
What a ride that was, EPIIIIIIC! 🤘🤘🤘
❤️❤️❤️
Wembley, Tampere, Buenos Aires.
Jeff ... time for "The Greatest Show On Earth" from Tampere. Don't get talked into the Wembley version, just because it has Richard Dawkins. My suggestion is watch Tempere, then watch the end of Wembley. They're both exceptional, and are different is several ways, so reacting to both would be great. I've been waiting for this from you, because you see and hear things others don't. Your perspective of what I consider to be the greatest composition of my life is important for me to hear. I'd also recommend a little research. You're educated and bright enough to pick up most of the references, but Tuomas studied the subject and he gets into descriptive terms that speed past the majority of reactors. It wouldn't be objectionable to check out the lyrics beforehand. So looking forward to this experience with you!
I agree, the Wembley version is terrible compared to Tempere. Its too dark and the sound is just not as good.
@@rathael1428 It's not horrible, but it's different. They were home in Tampere and there is just a higher level of emotion. Everybody just goes nuts because Richard Dawkins makes an appearance, but the theatrics of Tampere are at a level nobody has ever equalled. Floor is absolutely locked in. Her facial expressions let you know that. I prefer Troy's low whistle vs. the Ebow guitar, because it's an ancient instrument, by comparison, and at that point in the song, they're representing the beginning. Just my opinion, and I'm talking about first impression. I also recommend watching the Wembley version as soon as possible following. They each bring something special to the table.
I concur. And I think he should watch it to the very end 🤟
I concur
@@3534538 No other way to watch it. The end always makes me tear up!
Hard to light a candle, easy to curse the dark instead.
Best lyric of any song I've heard.
LOVE THAT!
So you seem to have enjoyed that concert!
The best IMO is Buenos Aires 2018 with lots of the older songs reinterpreted by Floor. Some of my favourites are in that show.
By the way, I have never seen a reactor comment on the fact that Marco did post-production sound mixing.
BA 2018, Decades live.. I concur!
Who can't just love 'I want my tears back' from BA!
@@williamklett6660 Absolutely!
🤩👍💥💯
Must be one helluwa driving energy after this gig. Thinking they were the headliner at Wacken Open Air 2013.
... For both! For the audience and for the band(+crew)
As always. Nice and warming reaction män.
🤘😎 🇫🇮 💙
Thank you my friend! :)
It was really awesome that you did the whole show in sequence! Maybe you can check out some of Gabriel list and then do Decades live in Buenos Aires.
Hello and Thank You for your reacting Wacken 2013. This was an entertaining
ride with you. You asked what next, I suggest the London concert at Wembley
Arena 2015, and I hope you could do it from the start,"Shudder Before the Beautiful".
But any of Nightwish is good, greets from Finland.
And do the hole concert!!
You know important tuomas is to this band. When they came back on stage how humble he is? Floor points at him and claps.
She knows ! Human nature came out in 2020. He said in an interview several months ago he had already written the next album!
Tuomas is brilliant...what more can I say?
This song is so hopeful and vivacious yet also somberly fatalistic and tragic.
However, that describes a lot of Nightwish songs.
Life is so good. But also so short. But its also so beautiful. But so painful. But its so wonderful. But it's so frightening.
My Nightwish top songs:
1. Devil and the deep dark ocean (Marko and Floor singing)
2. Sleeping Sun (Tarja singing)
3. Dark chest of wonders (Tarja singing)
4. Everdream (Marko and Floor singing)
5. Last Ride of the day (Marko and Floor singing)
6. Wishmaster (Tarja singing)
7. High hopes (Marko singing, Pink Floyd tribute
8. Nemo (Tarja singing)
9. The poet and the pendulum (Marko and Floor singing)
10. Wish i had an angel (Marko and Tarja singing)
11. Romanticide (Marko and Floor singing)
12. The greatest show on earth (Marko and Floor singing)
13. Dead boys poem (Floor singing)
14. Ghost love score (Floor singing)
15. While your lips are still red (Marko singing)
16. Shoemaker (Floor singing)
17. Yours is an empty hope (Marko and Floor singing)
18. Phantom of the opera (Marko and Tarja singing)
19. Storytime (Floor singing)
20. Ghost River (Marko and Floor singing)
Nice list Martin!
@@StrateleStudios Glad you liked it 😊
The Poet and The Pendulum @ Wembley
Hi, beautiful reaction, I don't know how they do it, but until the end of the concert they are full of energy and the fans with them, emotions beyond description, how could you start reacting to Tampere / Wembley or the latest Hellfest 2022, best regards
Thank you Irek! :) :) :)
My tip, Hellfest 2022.🤘🤘
This journey wouldn't be the same without you on it. So glad to have a insightful and delightfull reactor like yourself. Thank you.
Thank you Jason! 😊😊😊
Again.. thanks for the video.. your happy face made me smile too! Waiting for the next one already ;)
😃😃😃❤️
Great reaction! I think it's time for you to see Nightwish original singer Tarja Turunen 😁🙏 I would love to see you react to Wishmaster (live), Nemo (live) and Nightwish cover of "Phantom of the opera live". And btw, my Favourite Nightwish song which is with Floor and Marko singing is "Devil and the deep dark ocean" and you should check that one out also 😁👍
And Dark chest of wonders (Tarja singing) 🙏
Thank you what a fun ride. depending how far you want to go ahead in 2015 there are two shows "Wembley" or" Tampere" in 2018 Buenos Aries" or newest 2022 Hellfest . I suggest 2015 next then 2018 then 2022 that way you can experience the changes as they go . here are all the links to full concerts . maybe do a poll or just choose yourself

EDIT: ..and after that, Tampere 2015. Floor & Marko were at peak vocal performance there.
BTW.. notice what Tuomas does at 9:35 that says it all.
Wembley
Great series of videos, Jeff, you have a lot more enjoyment ahead!
Can't wait! :)
This video has become rather bittersweet ever since Marko left, but just like we got used to Kai after Jukka N, we'll get used to Jukka K after him on the bass, and honestly? I hope they let him sing\growl
I like yours reaction 🙃🤟👍🇫🇮
Well, I like YOU! 😊
Good one.
I want you to watch: Gabriels list. Go back to it, and follow it where you jumped off.
This was so fun with you, thank you again! I kinda understood that you might be ready to hear Nightwish with someone else so I want to suggest you going back in time and do From Wishes To Eternity show with Tarja. And then to Tampere, Wembley and so on😊
Good reaction Jeff now move on to the Hellfest 2022 it's just as good. Also I beleave that Lovebites are premiering there new bassist on the 21st of this month can't wait for that.
Oh wow I’m interested in seeing the new bass player!
when you get to "The Greatest Show on Earth", please use the Tampere 2015 version
Please check out “seven days to the wolves” from the Wembley concert, one of my favourites! Don’t know if you already reacted to it, can’t find it on your playlist, so…
Yes, I think it´s time for The Poet and the Pendulum. Here is the link for a video with lyrics: czcams.com/video/iEzZRMthhXU/video.html But I highly recommend doing some research before diving in, if you want a bigger experience, and have a better understanding of the background for writing such a song.
I've really enjoyed this journey with you, Jeff. I look forward to your next steps with this amazing band. If I could pick one, it would be 'Weak Fantasy' at Tampere. But, you can't go wrong with anything they've ever done. Before or after 2013. Thanks!
special for me: happy face of Floor at the end of the song, and the end titles they thank not the technicians, but also the busdriver. If you wanna react to the latest show i suggest the remastered versions of the Deichbrand 2022 festival. But Wembley, Buenos Aires, Tampere are older but great too.
Hello Thanxs for your nice and spontaneous reactions , I have been following the music for 60 years and have seen all the big and most small bands perform live , and I loved it , however Nightwish is really of a different level, it was for Floor the 1st album (endless forms most beautiful) that she sang herself , based on a book by Richard Dawkins , the Tampere show is the best show I have ever seen in my life , for this performance her parents were present captured in a documentary it's fun to watch this first (czcams.com/video/risVZTg37mo/video.htmlen) than to see the whole show of 2015 this is a spectacle that you experience 1x in your life , take the show with lyrics or take the songs with lyrics from the set list , have fun
Thank you, Hans!
Great reactions👍🤟start with Wembley 2015
Sudder before de beautiful
Thank You very much. 🙏🏻 I really enjoyed your Nightwish Wacken 2013 journey. 👍🏻
Wacken 2013 is a gold standard and I thought it can't be matched again. However then I came across to Wembley 2015 and oh biy, now I can't make my mind up which of them is best.
I'd suggest you to continue with "Shudder before the beautiful" from Wembley 2015. It is the opener and so full of energy. The setlist is quite different because it covers many songs fom their then new album "Endless forms most beautiful". It is a bit darker, heavier, first one written with floor and covers the evolution story from Richard Dawkins. Its all so deep.
I'd strongly recommend cover the Wembley 2015 show (you might skip the songs which you already reacted on).
I wish you all the best 🍀🍀🍀

next Human/Nature album by Nightwish please !
talk about another going like gangbusters right through the doors
Great reaction as always. Now I think You are ready for some of the masterpieces that Toumas and Nightwish created since Floor joined.
"The Greatest Show On Earth" - and read up on that before: czcams.com/video/45brzDJKZ3o/video.html
"Poet And The Pendulum" - A must to read the story behind this epic song is mandatory: czcams.com/video/N4Vfy5yCy-c/video.html
The Poet And The Pendulum was written when Tarje left and Anette joined, but it is best when Floor sings it.
React last ride of the day at TAMPERE and HELLFEST
Excellent as usual my man. It some respects it gets even better from here. I know I know, bold claim. I stand by it.
If this band releases a best of album at some point they'll have to include 75% of their catalogue on it at the very least.
You might have a quick look at some one-off live vids before seeing if the other concerts grab you. Sleeping Sun at Masters of Rock or Planet Hell, Floor's very first Nightwish gig. Maybe even try and a twofer and listen to Tarja's version of the same song in the same vid. Not to judge who is better and open that can of worms up again but just to hear the different styles.
Anyways, others will bombard you with their equally good suggestions so I'll stop now. I'm just relieved to see another adult as happy as a child like I was on watching this full concert for the first time.
🤘🇫🇮
Hellfest 2022 please.
What about End of an Era 21.10.2005 Helsinki with Tarja?
Her last time with NW
