  • Whatever you can do behind the wheel, you can always get better, finer or more precise, and there's always a technique you can improve. That's actually the best thing about driving a sports car. On the other hand, if you slack off and don't work on your skills and practice them, you may eventually find that your reactions aren't as quick or that you can't be smooth and relaxed enough at higher speeds.
I sit in sports cars almost every day. Mostly in the passenger seat, where I pass on what I've learned over the years to another drivers. But I often drive them as well, and that helps me stay in shape. It's not real practice though, because the side roads where I often teach drivers have their limits very low, and on the track I would need a race car again, which is incredibly expensive.
But I still feel the need to work on myself and improve what I already know. That's why I once bought a racing kart that was perfect for that kind of training. Unfortunately, I only get to the track during events I organize, and it's not the safest thing to drive a go-kart between big cars. I looked around for a car suitable for training for a long time, until one of our clients brought a Kart cross to one of our events. A small buggy for tarmac and dirt, with low weight and a powerful motorcycle engine. I knew right away I had to own this.
So my friend and I got a Kart cross too and we are starting to get a feel for what it can do. I can tell you, I haven't had this much fun driving it in a long time. This thing is pretty edgy, so we're far from using it to its full potential, and we're still learning with it. Besides the fact that driving a Kart cross is incredibly fun and adrenaline rush, I feel my skills deepening, which is actually what brings me the most joy. Kart cross reminds me a bit of my racing kart, mainly in its intensity, but it's built on shock absorbers, so there's a lot of weight transfer involved. I'm just getting a feel for the buggy for now, but I can't wait to get it out on the dirt. I don't want to bore you with a long text, so I'll save the rest for an article about how it feels to drive Kart cross. For now, you can at least take a look at the onboard from our yesterday's "training" in Sosnová.

Budeš jezdit i závody? Nebo jen pro zábavu?
