I ran a 5K everyday for 30 days as a total beginner, here's what happened!

- During these very unique times I decided to set myself a challenge; how much better can a total beginner get a running in 1 month?
I documented the difficulties and challenges that I faced when taking up running everyday for 30 days and making it part of my routine, I also tried to show how rewarding it has been and how much of a positive impact it can have.
As a total beginner I chose to run 3 miles or 5 kilometres (km) per day as the brief research I did said this is a good place to start if you feel like you are able to do so. Try the challenge for yourself! in these times of self isolation / quarantine its the perfect time to take up hobby like running.
Hope you enjoy the video as much as I have enjoyed putting it together, I always appreciate any feedback. Subscribe for more videos coming soon!

Enjoyed this! I’m currently running 5km every day. Just finished day 15/15.
Thank you! keep up the good work 🏃♂️
Love the pod, shit I never know you were jogging now... I must catch up on episodes
I also do running around Norwich, probably won’t see you tho🥺
How much fat u reduced
Respect brother
You have the same scales as my grandma. I feel like everyone should be aware of that.
Great minds think alike
My grandma to lol
Loool this was more hilarious than expected. People don't realise the editing involved either. Respect
Cheers Joe, appreciate it geez ! Just posted a similar video on the keto diet
Next pandemic do a marathon everyday

@@tylerharris7145 I can’t lie if it wasn’t for this pandemic I wouldn’t have become a runner
wait you ran 5:31 per km on your first 5k run?? No way you are a beginner, if so, i gotta respect that
I only had very basic running experience before this (occasionally on a treadmill in gyms) so thank you !
Exactly what I was thinking!!! I can’t lower my pace from 6/km
yeah but in the video he explained he was stopping, so he probably recovered. I'm sure I can do a sub-20 5k if I took breaks.
I would stop and walk for 100m or so every now and then in the first 10 days but did not pause the strava app so all the times are a true reflection of my 5km movement regardless of stopping to catch my breath, I found my stamina improved thereafter
No, what i meant by this was that I couldnt consistently keep up the same running pace until days 10-20 where I noticed my stamina improved and my times also improved respectively
Fell down the rabbit hole of CZcams and ended up here. He is hilarious 😫😂
Glad you enjoyed the video Meredith!
I started running this trail close to my house 4 days ago. It’s 3.5 kilometres long with up hills and down hills. Day 1 I surprised myself by only stopping once to take a break. I experienced runners high and it was amazing. When I stopped running my body kept being pushed forwards.. day 2 a lil over half way my phone fell out my pocket and I had to stop. Day 3 which was yesterday I completed the whole trail in 1 shot.... I was so amazed, I’m addicted now. I’m doing this on a recovering shin splint and very soar legs cuz I also weight train 5 days a week. Started my weight loss journey a month and half ago and I’ve lost 25 pounds so far
Good shit, keep it up !
Keep up the good work 👏
Love this!
Drop the weight workout and diet
You are being a little rough on yourself. You killed it. Most trainers would tell you to run 3 times a week and definitely don't run the whole time.
This was inspiring
Thanks mate !
😂😂 the editing on this video is absolutely genius. You captured the exact soundtrack I hear when I run. Congrats on the improvements you made on your fitness.
Haha thank you!
You looked much healthier at the end. You probably didn’t lose weight because you lost fat and gained muscle
The thing about losing weight from running is that you probably lost more fat than what the scale said, but you probably gain muscle too so you were losing fat and converting it to muscle
You cant convert fat into muscles... U can lose fat, and then maybe gain a very little amount of muscle due to fibre tearing... But both are individual process. U cannot convert fat into muscle tho
what I meant tho is that some people keep the same overall weight it just they had more muscle and less fat than before
@@chrisegan6671 true mate
@@chrisegan6671 what if ur dieting?
Why would you want to lose weight? 74 kg is nothing, what is your height?
Never watched this best editing on channel having 708 subs.
Thank you 👌
Right? It is amazingly entertaining and professional, imo 😃✌️
Mera dekhle
This felt so much like a Wes Anderson film and I loved every second of it.
Thank you 👌
EXACTLY!! Glad it wasn’t just me.
I am 29 days into 30 days of running 3 miles a day. After the first week, I lost seven pounds. Here on day 29, I actually gained 2 pounds back. Disappointed in the results but not disappointed I stuck it out and did the run every single today. My pace was about 7:30 miles per minutes and I am 63.
Don't worry, those 2 pounds could be muscle. It is common for people who just started running/working out to first lose weight (fat) and then gain weight a few weeks later (muscle).
Probably gained muscle well done for being persistent 👍
Bro which diet you follow besides running?
Growing muscle mass bro
It's probably be wise when you start dieting you lose wateweight a s well as fat, so you gain some waterweight back but not fat, making it look like you're regressing
Very entertaining! Every time I achieve a new PB it's on days that I really don't feel like running. I think I'm just motivated to go faster because the faster you run, the sooner you're done.
Good advice !
Just found this channel to help with my pre military training I haven’t even started running yet but 3 miles in 20 minutes is the base line for entry video was very helpful thanks 👊🏼
This is actually very entertaining, I’m starting to run to lose some weight, hope you get millions of views bro keep going !

Thanks to videos like this I started running 4 years ago. First I exercised for 3 minutes Everyday for a year. (Yes, That's how out of shape I was when I Started) Then I trained to run a 5K. Now I'm considering running 5K every day. Thank you for sharing your journey.
Keep up the good work 👏
the fact you only have 300 subs is mad- defo gonna blow up at some point

Thanks for this, really entertaining! I'm considering starting to run as my only decent "excercise" is golf, and that's closed. I don't think I could run 5k straight off but my challenge will be getting to that point and then being able to do it without stopping.
Nat Phillips, you’ve absolutely smashed it. This video simply shows why you should be starting alongside Virgil next season. Keep it up!!
Thanks Connor!
This was awesome, realistic, and so funny 🤣🤣. Congrats on your accomplishments!

I have been working out intensely six days a week for about six weeks now and running a 5k in the morning is apart of my routine ever since COVID shutdowns. I stumbled across this channel just interested in other people’s journey and this is quality content!! You made really good time on your run btw, definitely better than the average beginner

I started a jog/walk combo on the 1st of 2021. My goal is to finish a 5K under 30 minutes without a walk section.
Yesterday was 33:06
By now you should be running the full 5 KM ..
Try doing the peloton 5k program it’s two months free and like 16 a month

Thanks for the great video Beau. I see on Strava that you have been doing a bit of cycling recently. I have been a runner and cyclist for many years - lockdown was difficult for me! In Cape Town, at one point, we weren’t even allowed out to exercise! So, as you will see on my CZcams channel, I ran the 2Oceans marathon in my front garden! But, now restrictions are less arduous and we can exercise at any time outdoors. Last week I ran the Winelands half marathon (also a virtual run). However, my times are nowhere near as good as yours! Your injuries are not surprising. To do such distances so quickly is quite a strain on your body! But well done! This was a lovely video! I hope you keep going!
Good vid ,I too got on the running bandwagon during lock down , I started with 5k every other day now I'm doing 10k no stopping
A better man than me ! I unfortunately have not kept it up like I should of

Thank you I appreciate it and im glad the video inspired you! 💯
I can't believe you have only have 500 subscribers. You have quality editing and are very entertaining wish you the best
Thanks i appreciate that 🙏
Great that you took some rest days. Ideally you have at least a full day of rest from running between one another. I still think you did great and got fast quickly. I am impressed. Most people are not able to run 5k in one go anyway, let alone at these speeds. But rest enough to actually let your body adapt. You are way more talented than most
I was pleased with how quickly I did make progress! Defo needed the rest days though
Great editing. v entertaining. When you say you took breaks and could run without stopping eventually. Does that mean you were pausing your strava during the run?
Thank you I appreciate it! 🙏 and no I never paused strava but in the first 10 day peroid I would maybe walk 50-100m every now and then if I was beginning to struggle, this was always reflected in the recorded times 🏃♂️
Love your narration and sense of humor! 😆
Glad you enjoyed 💯
How do you only have 1k subs you deserve more than 2 million with those editing skills better than most people that house hundreds of thousands
Your times are maaaaaad 😍Well done...if I ran those times I'd die for sure 😂😁
I am six weeks into my regime. I started qt 85.4 kg and now I am 75kg. I have been doing a combination of resistance band exercises, kettlebell exercises, running 3-4 times a week and swimming twice a week and I'm absolutely loving it
That's how I'm doing at the moment if anyone give a shit
Great work, keep it up !

What an awesome video, at least you got your revenge with the scale😀👍. Am on Day 5 and it ain't budging yet😬
In the sequences where you are running on the grass, I had the feeling that you where running really slow. But I've checked my stats from a period I runned once (sometimes twice) a week on a nearly regular basis. And at my peek I was running around 5.15min/km, so I am rather slow too ^_^
I don't know why this was recommended to me but I thoroughly enjoyed it
👏
I really enjoy the video, the background music and all. One of the best. U ran fast even on your first day. I done +walking 5km in 48 minutes but still dying 😂
what a greatly done video mate...so fun to watch. cheers from India!
That was truly an entertaining watch
😂😂😂 And motivational! 💃
Thanks Amy !
I did it for 60 days. The 2nd 30 days in Ramadhan and most run during fasting. The speed average is only 6:30/km. But the total weight loss is more than 4 kg. I'm sure the change of diet makes much more difference. The run is to make sure you will be fit during the new diet.

“ Me and my new jawline ran our way into the next few days” - I CRIED AHAHA 🤣
Thank you !
Fun experiment. But if you want to get better at running, then you need to focus on building up your weekly running mileage (or better yet, weekly time) only. Don't worry at all about speed improvements for at least a few months. 5k a day is a great start (21.7mi a week - nothing to be sniffed at). However, you really need to build up to 30, 40, 50 and over mi a week (as much as you can fit in really - pros run over 100mi a week). The trouble with running a set distance at max. pace each day is that it's not the optimal way to see improvement. Sure, you might knock off a few seconds here and there, especially since you haven't done much running before this. But it's simply not possible to maintain sizeable improvements running your hardest at the same distance each day. It would also get quite demoralising and physically draining (as evidenced by your injuries) running a flat-out 5k a day, especially when the improvements will inevitably plateau. What you need, is to run much more miles at a *very easy* (i.e. conversational) pace. Ignore the speed. Then, only once you have the aerobic base from building up your easy running mileage after at least 2-3 months, you can add in some speed work here and there. Eventually, 80% of your running should be easy, and 20% should be hard (at most). The 80/20 rule is based on heart-rate data of top runners (they only push themselves into the higher heart-rate zones for, at most, 20% of their running).
This was hilarious! great work man!
Thank you!
Not gonna lie, this video is so fun to watch! Great job in the post work !

Don't worry mate keep going. I was 96kg when I started, now I'm 77kg 🤟🏻
Well done Beau! Your starting average pace was very good for a beginner. Wow! Also don't be too disheartened at the scales. Your body composition most likely changed e.g. increase in lean muscle mass and reduction in fat. This is not always reflected in those figures.
A body composition scale like one by Withings would have given you a better view of this (I own one but use the figures as a guide). Body fat calipers are a more accurate way to measure.
I've done a few RED (Run Every Day) challenges before and am looking forward to starting one on 01 OCTOBER. That's my Birthday month, so hoping to rediscover some speed 😂
Anyway well done once again - you did great! 👍👏

When many people start running they don’t realize that they’re gaining muscle and losing fat.

it's very unlikely that your able to lose fat and still build muscle. Because building muscle requires (more or less at least) a caloric surplus.
@Benny-the -great Possible, but very unlikely for most people
Stickman Domination it’s very possible, if your fatter, you can be eating in a deficit and your body will take the fat storage and use it. It is not as quick being in a surplus of course but it’s possible, there’s videos on it
@@arielcastillo4379 yes it takes fat storage but then u wont have the calorie surplus to build muscle. Thats why its usually one or the other
