- Highlights of a full journey from #Mumbai to #Chennai onboard the #ChennaiExpress

A journey compilation on board #12163 #Dadar #ChennaiEgmore Superfast Express all the way from Dadar in Mumbai to #Perambur in Chennai.
Features the train's timely departure from Dadar and its subsequent run through the Mumbai suburban section of #CentralRailways till #Karjat through #Kalyan and #Thane amidst some sharp rainfall on Day-1.
Day-2 starts at #Gulbarga and then #Wadi where we undergo a locomotive change to a WAP-7 from #Royapuram letting go of our #Pune ALCo. #Wadi sees the bifurcation of the tracks towards #Secunderabad while we take the course to #Guntakal though the #Deccan Plateau. Black soil, rocky outcrops and two major rivers later, we arrive #Guntakal which serves as the meeting point of tracks from #Mumbai , #Chennai , #Bengaluru , #Vijaywada & #Hubbali . #Gooty , the home of the beautiful #kingfisher liveried ALCos, arrive soon after.
The landscape takes a turn post Guntakal as forests and vegetation cover starts to increase gradually and at #Renigunta we are surrounded by hills on all sides. In between, we also encounter a small ghat section around #Kadapa and #Yerraguntla through the #Palkonda Hill Range.
Post Renigunta, we keep the #Tirupati tracks on the right and take the giant #Pudi curve en-route #Arakkonam , the home of some stunning WAM-4s & WAP-1s. We coast through the Chennai Suburban section after Arakkonam and end the journey at #Perambur where i get off to save an hour and meet a few friends.

A SUPERB SCENIC JOURNEY
the announcement music tune at guntakal and gooty remind me standing at a nagpur platform during my childhood and schooldays. it was melodious and still is. now supposedly a history for nagpur.
loved the chugging, tracksounds and passings.
You echoed my thoughts. I'm sure all of us enjoyed the announcements at different stations and love it in our childhood which contributed a long way to us being railway lovers now!

Excellent coverage. Nostalgia hit me as I remembered travelling from Pune to Renigunta with a diesel link. The chugging, smoking and the turbo sound combo of the Alco at 110kmph was pure bliss to listen to. No journey for me is complete without a diesel locomotive link:)

Not regular. The link varies between a wap-7, 4 & 1. Unless you are extremely lucky to get a wam-4. But wap-7 is most regular.

Its a request to you, if possible then try to do a journey compilation along the Konkan Region onboard 22629... Many compilations are already there on Konkan but I wish you could do one onboard the LHB 22629 Dadar Tirunelveli Express.

நல்ல தொகுப்பு( means nice compilation in Tamil :P )..eyes were getting bored a bit but the stretch beyond Guntakal was a nice change to have,had never heard of this Palkonda range which was really scenic and beautiful..you were blessed to have wonderful skyline throughout to top it all even during monsoons :)..loved the congregation/alignment of trains at 18:35.. keep sharing !! :)

Brother, tears of joy, wadi station, those days smoking allowed in train, I my amma appa in ac coach, as u know well ac coach near engine, so the shop bit far in the platform, so got down I buyed, then turn around, my appa was there, my dad on that day his heart broke, I gave back that thing and purchased biscuit packet, went in the coach, amma asked why so much time,
