I absolutely love that you played so many parts of the song not perfect or even downright sloppy, because seriously. WTF did you guys write at that time!
Let's keep in mind it has to be learned in an hour at best. With more practice, could sound much better. But it does show how crazy some of these riffs were.

I'm actually a massive fan of "The Crusade" album. I thought it had great ideas. So refreshing to hear these songs coming back to life.
Here's what should've happened to The Crusade, waited a year to release it (album would've been better received in 2007, when Thrash was coming back) and had a track listing more like:
1. Vengeance
2. Unrepentant
3. This World Can't Tear Us Apart
4. Broken One
5. Tread The Floods
6. Entrance of the Conflagration
7. Becoming The Dragon
8. Ignition
9. Detonation
10. The Crusade
11. To The Rats

People may shit on this album, but I am personally quite grateful for it. Not only is it fantastic, it paved the way for Shogun, which is the undisputed champion of all things Trivium. This song was a major highlight of the album, for me. I wish Broken One wound up on the album, though. I'd have happily taken it over Anthem.
With the exception of "This World Can't Tear Us Apart" (which is a really shitty und unfitting lovesong, sorry guys) The Crusade has the best guitars in all Trivium records, only challenged by Shogun. The titletrack is still my favourite Trivium song, also in big parts because I almost don't care at all about the vocals. If it were for me they would have done the 100% shouts long ago and gone the insane riff-oriented music that Sylosis does.

Yes. Shogun. Awesome album throughout. It's their Master of Puppets. Delivers on every song.
I remember when this album came out it really divided a lot of people, but I think it's the third best album after Ascendancy and Shogun. Really appreciate the performance of this gem.

I remember playing this at an event at my school in 8th grade (9th age-wise for most of you) and getting a standing ovation. That was also the last time I ever got bullied. No one had a solid case to do that after that. So yeah, thanks Matt & peeps.

The first Trivium song I ever heard when i was like 12, blew my mind. Rain was the second, introduced me to harsh vocals which I was unsure about at first but my entire music taste was developed with these two songs

That album is a great one to start with after your on your thrash metal binge.

this song is definitely no fucking joke. i was a lucky korn kid who had a seven-string to learn this tune on back when the album landed and tabs/Matt's lessons were easy to find.
my mom heard me practicing it one day and when the song finished she yelled out "THAT IS ONE BUSY SONG!!" lol while i never got good at sweeps, this song was a crowning achievement of mine to learn. but it took well into 100 hours for me to get it presentable. so i cant blame matt for being rusty on it, cuz this song....*chef's kiss masterful
