  • Metzeler Sportec M7 RR Tires Review
    www.revzilla.co...
    The Metzeler Sportec M7 RR Tires are built for riders who require a tire as versatile as the roads they traverse. It’s hard to predict what kind of roads you might encounter on any given ride, and the Sportec M7 RR Tires’ tread pattern design and compound provides riders with additional, top-of-the-line security from the elements. Additional features of the Metzeler Sportec M7 RR Tires include their extended mileage and sporty handling.

    I would never put it between Pilot Power and Pilot Roads. In my opinion the M7 RR is way superior than the Pilot Power 3. For me it sits between Diablo Rosso II and Rosso Corsa ( closer to The Rosso II thought ). The M7`s strong point is grip in the wet due to the silica compound. I've ridden these tires pretty hard in the wet with no drama at all and very safe in very wet conditions. Dry grip is just Phenomenal. I live in Brazil in a very hot state with tropical rain. Rear lasts around 7.500 km pushing hard and front will go way above 10.000 km.

    These tires work very well on my 2018 Kawasaki Ninja 1000 ABS (Z1000SX). Excellent dry grip, nice compliance on rough roads. Linear steering, they neither fall into turns not feel truck-ish. Good front end feel. Overall, they are very trustworthy!

    This is my third set of M7rr best tyre for my S1000rr had the rosso 3’s and they didn’t last no time.
    Also to add these tyres had been designed for the TT road race so wet, dry & less than great surfaces these will inspire confidence.
    M7’s much better than pilot road 4’s as the pilot road 4’s wear very uneven and make your bike feel unstable .
    M7 rr no brainer if you own a sports bike or other in the uk .

    These tyres came with the '14 mt09 I purchased second hard. I used them during my license test which was under heavy rain conditions. I felt confident riding with these tyres in the wet on a bike I wasn't fully yet comfortable on. I used to rock the Michelin road 5s on my old bike, they are also very solid and great for rain but the road 6s are out now and even better.

    When I bought the Yamaha R3 in 2015, I replace the stock rubber with Pirelli and did not like the feel. Later I bought the M7RR in the 150/60 ZR rear and the 110/70 ZR front. That is the largest tires which will fit the rims properly. Eventually I had to reduce the rear sprocket by one tooth because the tire is shorter that stock tire (slightly). The tires are the best I've ever used on my motorcycles, and I've always used the Michelin tires in the past on my other bikes. Handling is amazing and it is more stable.

      I replaced the oem S21 on my s1000r with RR7. Bridgestones were good but last 25% of their life was a little less grip in the wet. Mets have been better in every respect - fair bit of wet riding and tracks days included. Unexpectedly have squeezed 9000km out of them - now front and rear have just worn to the tread depth indicators, and no change in tyre performance. Another set of m7rr will be fitted in the next week.

    M7rr en 120 av et 190 ar monté sur s1000rr, tester sur route, longévité bien supérieure au Pirelli diablo rosso 3, 3000 à 3500 km pour les m7rr contre 2500 km pour les rosso.
    J'ai aussi testé les dunlop s22r qui ont un meilleur grip que les 2 cité ci dessus mais bien sur au détriment de la longévité 2000 km.
    En résumé je n'ai pas trop aimé le m7rr car il manque de grip comparé au s22r qui sont pourtant dans la même catégorie, manque de grip également pour le rosso 3.

    How it compares with Pilot Road 4 and Rosso 3? My bike is MT07.

    • @RevZilla
      @RevZilla  Před 5 lety

      It has more grip and performance than the Pilot Road 4 and similar performance to the Pirelli Rosso 3 with slightly better wet grip. -DrewZilla

    • @RevZilla
      @RevZilla  Před 6 lety

      The M7 RRs provide a bit more grip at the expense of overall tire life. If you do a lot of long-distance touring on the S1000XR, consider the Roadtecs. If you don't need as much tire life and want even more grip, then go with the M7 RRs. -DrewZilla

    Hi. how is this tyre vs the Michelin pilot Road 4 in terms of mileage and performance?

    • @RevZilla
      @RevZilla  Před 6 lety

      These M7 RR tires provide a good amount more performance but don't last as long as the Pilot Road 4 Tires. I'd say the M7 RR Tires have about 30% more grip but 30% less life. -DrewZilla

      @@RevZilla THANK for the response, Im about due for a new set of tyres again but I'm not too sure which one to go for between the Diablo Rosso II, the III and a new set of these M7RR.
      -I ride more on the streets say 90% of the time.
      -I'm looking for a good handling tyre with nice grip but one that also performs well in wet/cold weather. I realized the M7RR is not too great in the rain.
      -I'm also looking for a tyre that will last longer. Thanks

    How do these tyres measure up to pilot 5. They would be on a zx6r 636

    • @RevZilla
      @RevZilla  Před 5 lety +1

      These offer a lot more grip than the Road 5 tires, but in exchange, they don't last as long. If you do a lot of highway riding, you might want the extra life of the Road 5s. If you do mostly back road riding, then consider the M7 RRs. -DrewZilla

    What exactly is the difference between these and the Roadtec 01?

    • @RevZilla
      @RevZilla  Před 7 lety +1

      The rubber compounds are different. The M7RR sport tires have a bit more grip than the sport-touring Roadtec 01 tires, while the Roadtec 01 tires last longer. Both have high silica content for increased wet grip. -DrewZilla

    • @pedronogueira8148
      @pedronogueira8148 Před 7 lety +1

      In what conditions does the M7RR have more grip than the Roadtec 01? Rain? Dry? High lean angles?

    • @RevZilla
      @RevZilla  Před 7 lety +1

      The M7RR tires have more grip than the Roadtecs in all but the coldest conditions, which is why they don't last as long as the Roadtecs. -DrewZilla

      I ran s21's on my 2014 zx10r last season. Put about 4k on them. Good grip for the street been caught in rain at 90 mph and nithing but confidence. However wore the middle flat from riad trips and a few burn outs. Replacing them probaly sometime this season. Actually might do q3+ ir the m7rr. But you cant go wring with the s21.

      ITGuru so, which ones did u end up picking? I’m in your situation now. My m5’s believe it or not, lasted 15,000km hahaha. And still no metal strips in the center of the tires.
      I did a ride from Bangalore to Goa to Mumbai city (about a 1000km one way) and a flat 1 inch patch happened in the middle of my rear tire which was disappointing (but expected, I guess?) cuz these are soft compound tires.
      I want to do the m7rr’s and this is the best review I’ve seen so far to convince me to do so especially after their reply to your question here.
      I ride a ‘16 duke 390.
      Please let me know what u recommend.

    • @RevZilla
      @RevZilla  Před 6 lety

      The Road 5s are better for the commuting, but the M7 RRs are better all around. You could go with the Road 5s, and if you feel you need more grip for the twisties, then go for the M7 RRs next time around. A number of Street Triple riders here just really like the M7 RRs. -DrewZilla

    hey guys I'm torn between m7rr (that I've used for a few hundred miles and loved) or the rosso 3 (that I haven't used). I'm familiar with the Pirelli family and find all of them are good but I'm look for the tyre out of these that will give the most village the m7rr or the rosso 3? not that it makes too much difference to the estimate but I have a triumoh speed triple r that does like to chew through rubber.

      H. Devine cheers dude... the m7s were literally designed for the roads I ride on my only real question is about longevity, what tyre will give more village per set? what are the reports your hearing? forums seem to suggest that the m7s are going to give about 3-4k and rosso 3 will be more 4-6k how does this stack with you experiences?
