Desperately Seeking a Passage to India

I was 22, fed up with England and yearning to get back east again. With my dearest friend and deadliest rival Mike Townson, who would later produce BBCTV's Tonight show, I bought a clapped out BSA three-wheeler as old as I was. When that let us down along came a bus, 'The Indiaman', first to ever make the journey overland from London to Calcutta.
