  • #MetalAcademix episode 17 react to #DragonForce. We review three songs: Valley of the Damned from the debut album of the same name (2002), Through Fire and Flames from Inhuman Rampage (2006) and Razorblade Meltdown from their most recent album, Extreme Power Metal (2019).
    We also include some reactions to reactions: the drummer Gee Anzalone reacts to Junna's wild interpretation of Through Fire and Flames, and the guitarist Herman Li reacts to GHAddict's breathtaking record of speed play of the same song on Guitar Hero.

      @@MetalAcademix Exactly. Also Ana, about your comment on Marc's voice sounding like Axl Rose lol I thought Marc sounds like he came from 80s glam metal band (think high-pitched voice of Steelheart's Miljenko Matijevic). As much as I like ZP, Marc isn't too bad and DF new materials suit his voice better.

    I'm jealous as hell that you went a DragonForce live show . I've been trying to get to a live show for so long . Even more sad I didn't get to see Vadim and ZP and Fred and Dave Mackintosh ( drummer that was there for their 2nd 3rd 4th 5th and 6th album ) live . They don't usually go where I live. I'm near the Windsor Ontario area of Canada . Near the border between Windsor, Ontario and Detroit, Michigan . I can't go to the states cause I don't have a passport . So it sucks sometimes lol. I don't know if you listened to all the album's but if you didn't, I want to make some Dragonforce reaction requests .
    1. E.P.M
    2. Storming the Burning Fields
    3. Edge of the World
    4. Evil Dead ( it's a cover song . Original song is by Death )
    5. War
    6. Lost Souls in Endless Time
    7. Tomorrow's Kings
    8. The Game
    9. Astral Empire
    10. Last Man's Stands
    There's too many good songs . I want the guy to definitely react to the Evil Dead cover and Edge of the World and maybe War . Those have the different vocal styles where Marc shows his death metal thrash side of him . It's freaking awesome . I think he'll like it . Loved your reaction vid .

      We have a huge scene down here, you may have heard of Ne Obliviscaris(prog black/death?) Airborne(hard rock),Thy Art Is Murder(deathcore). We also have festivals and local shows in larger cities (but not at the moment of course). All genres of Metal and Hard Rock. I actually work with the brother of the guitarist in Destruktor (local death/black metal band)and an ex bass player from the same band as well.
      Download festival is huge here and we have had legends such as Iron Maiden and Candlemass tour as well, the Blind Guardian tour had Black Majesty support also. Happy to help fellow metalheads discover our scene 🤘🤘

    I'm gonna say it. I like Marc Hudson more than ZP. ZP was definitely amazing but I like how Marc can switch from power to thrash in a second. Also when listening to his show with dragonforce in Japan I noticed how much of crowd hyper he is. Also I never noticed too much of a difference when he was singing valley of the damned. Most of the differences were very enjoyable. Conclusion: ZP is an absolutely incredible singer and I hope he is doing great but Marc just barely tipped over the barrier and is a true God. Keep in mind this my opinion.

    • @UKEYsPOWER
      @UKEYsPOWER Před 4 lety

      Marc Hudson, is a standart PM voice... like dozens others.
      Without visualization, these groups cannot be distinguished at all.
      ZP Theart have more unique voice, and band, without him, was turn into standard, generic(even more) shit (IMHO).
      P.S.
      Sorry for my english.

    • @HyetalL
      @HyetalL Před 4 lety +2

      Marc was the one doing the growling vocals in edge of the world. ZP had restricting vocals as he could not reach some notes. Also I do like dragonforce and can see why people wouldn't. Too fast, kinda chaotic, and really long guitar solos (if there are more let me know because I'm genuinely interested to see people's complaints) and yeah ZP had some unique vocals it was good for their old music. point is that no matter who you say is better I respect your opinion and it comes down to preference

      @@MetalAcademix because they came along at a time when nobody in metal had a sense of humor. The 90s forced all metal bands to be very stone-faced and serious. Dragonforce brought a youthful energy to the genre that alot of musicians scoffed at.
      Plus, add in the extremely long guitar solos with lots of digital effects. Musicians respected long solos at this time, but only when approached from more of a prog angle. To have two skinny nerds on stage wanking at 180bpms for 5 minutes straight was just unacceptable to the more serious musicians in the early 2000s.
      I welcomed it though. They kicked some life into an overly saturated power metal scene with a zillion clones. Metal really needs to be music of the youth. Many metal musicians forget this unfortunately as they go on worshipping the same lifeless bands of yesteryear.
